Howdy
I went for a short hunt this morning in an area that I had hunted all around but never through the thick of. I found a pretty neat little ridge that divided 2 swamps and a cool little creek. Anyway, I found a spot to just sit and wait for the woods to calm down and hopefully get the critters moving again. After 20 minutes or so I got a goofy idea that this would be a perfect spot, at the right time to do some rattling. I didn'y have any antlers or calls so I started clacking a couple of arrows together and against my bow riser. I did a couple of (the best that I could muster up) mouth grunts, scuffed my feet on the ground and broke a few twigs. Just as I am about to burst out loud laughing at my stupidity I catch movement to my right. A little forked horn blacktail is standing 20 yards away wondering what the hell I am doing. I try so hard not to start laughing but I couldn't control it and he slowly walked off. He would have been a slam dunk shot but I want him to grow up a little. I sat still and waited about another 40 minutes for thing to calm down and to see if anything else woud come in and then left. I just wished that my daughter had been with me and not decided to sleep in. We were going to take her rattling antlers and see what she could call up. I might take her to that spot this evening or in the morning . I thought that this mornings adventure was so funny that I had to share.

Nice, sounds like a pretty decent spot.
Im going out scouting next week and I have a spot that is the only flat spot on this hillside and is a swampy area as well. I just know there has to be bucks in this area. Only problem is its an hr bike ride to get in there and not many places to hang a stand.
