runnin down the road like that could be a big dog, when im driven down a low traffic road i kick my dogs out to burn off some energy :twocents: but thoose are some big prints man

I'd rather have them in King County than Lewis county. Maybe they can eat some anti hunting wolf lovers.

Just wondering-anywhere near the Cedar river or Tacoma watersheds-
-
some big ass tracks that's for sure
-
Holy crap those are some huge paw prints... :yike: Like the pic where they are all hanging.... :chuckle:
-
Those tracks are badly melted out. Makes them look a lot bigger then they actually are. Most likely a dog.
-
Huge prints, most likely dog but you never know. Never did hear where they were seen in KC......?????
-
Wolves were released up the middle fork of the snoqualmie in the 80's-90's. I have been told by the game dept. They were said to have died off or shot. I used to see some huge gray black dogs/wolves just out of snoqualmie chasing elk in that time frame. So yes, I do believe there can be wolves in king county. I have seen them.
-
errr uhhh, Mulehunter, aren't you supposed to have a wedding ring on your finger?
Any wolf in King county should be down town Seattle and Olympia and clean up where cleaning up needs to take place. Then maybe we can get our ungulates back.
Me thinks it will get worse before it will get better.

I would believe anything. Looking at these particular tracks what strikes me is the acute lack of stride. Wolves don't tend to walk or stroll, they tend to jog, and they tend to have a much longer stride. Thats hard to determine in the pics.

Agreed. The Pic I took this morning. It has two way forward and back. there is two other trax washed off by someone car or truck on their way to work. It has to be four or so.
I hope I am wrong.... I remember how Wolf walk, Run, and playing way I can tell how Tracks look like.
Lookout Pack Male Trax is Smaller than one what I cut today this morning. :yike: Tracks werent there Sunday evening around 9ish and So I believe it wasnt a Dog.
I am going add two pictures from last year. Good Example how to look between King County Tracks and Look Out Pack Tracks.
It only has very tiny blanket of snow in this spot and rest of them all gone. Hard for me to prove it.
By the way I sent info to G.d. and two bio and one musketshoot Tribe Bio. I expect them to call us back if they feel important or not.

The stride on that last pic looks definately wolf. YIKES You've got yourself a problem. Man that is a good sized track.
-
I wasn't paying attention. Those are the lookout ones. I get it. Yep, thats what I mean.
-
Hope they are dog..... :bash:
Agreed. I hope its a just big dog. Gamedept has been email back forward so he will keep track on those area and keep open ear or eye on tracks. They possible travel thur black diamond or cumberland or rear cedar fall or going up east cascade or head to snoq hancock. Who knows where they are.
I hope to not bother u people, wish it would just a big dog. I drove by at 9pm sunday not there as i know for sure and on monday morning I cut it at 430 am. Its obviouly not dog.

Time to set up a few trail cams in that area....
-
the first pic has tracks going in 2 directions. 2 seperate sets of tracks and the strides/patterns are similar to the Look out pics. Hmm ? :dunno: They are awful bid tracks and with long claws.
Like Jeepasaurusrex said "time for a trail cam"

Your probably right. I'm just trying to be optimistic... :bash: :bash:

I noticed when my border collie walks her back paws overlay the tracks of her front paws so you rarely see a clean track. Is this typical of dogs? I know bears do that sometimes.
-
as a kid about 1964, we had a hound hunter named Cougar Martin that would hunt bear and cougar on our cow outfit in the Selleck,Elkcoal and Kanasket areas. he claimed there was wolves in the area at that time, but he allowed with both watersheds, the general public would never know they were there. Nate Green out of Enumclaw was the Game Warden at that time, and claimed the same thing, in fact he said he had seen 2 out with our cattle at Kanasket.Joe Monahan was the chief forestor for the city of Seattle at cedar falls, and said he had seen wolves in the Taylor creek area of the watershed above Selleck, and at Eagle Lake.
My Guess probably been there all along, who knows.
We never lost as much as a calf from predators, except the 2 legged variety!

Back in the mid 80s (1980's) a good friend of mine drove loggin' truck out of Snoqualmie when they were logging high up behind the watershed. He and several other drivers said they would hear wolves howling just after dark. Heard them in the same area most times. One of the drivers claimed he saw a couple out in a clearcut one winter, looked like they were feeding on something.
-
In the mid 80's I twice saw a lone wolf during the daylight and once heard a wolf howl at night on the Nile unit in the Yakima area. Perhaps a loner split off from the ones in King county about that time. Otherwise I figured it to be a pet released into the wild. I have not seen or heard of a wolf in the Yakima area since then.
The wolf howl came about an hour after dark during the elk rut. It was one of those rare calm nights with lots of elk bugling and coyotes yipping that just mesmerizes you. I was just kicked back on the jeep hood enjoying the evening serenade when the wolf howled. No mistaking it. Everything went dead quiet after a top predator anounced it's presence. Still a powerful memory for me.
-
The only time I think I heard a wolves howl was 3 years ago when we were hunting SW of Republic down by Swan Lake. My wife and I were set up on a nice hill side for the evening hunt. We were just about to get up and head back to camp when we heard some coyotes yipping in the draw below us. She was kinda freaked out by it but I told her to hold on and lets listen and see if we could locate them. This went on for about 10min and it was almost dark at this point when in the distance you would hear a lone howl. They coyotes shut up and it was dead silence.
At this point, my wife is like :yike: and was ready to get out of Dodge. I can honestly say I was feeling the hair on the back of my neck. I did record some of it, I will have to see if I can find it tonight.

Was back in that area Monday w/ my dad, while we were driving through he quickly told me to stop, jumped out with my binos and kept saying he could have sworn he'd seen a wolf about 30 yards off the road. I chuckled it off... but you never know
-
We will have to wait soon snow hit new blanket. I am sure wdfw people will be more curious with in 60 miles radius scouting in east side of king county.
Hopefully it just a stupid dogs.
