looking to replace a Bushnell 3-9x40 on my 6mm TCU Rifle and was entertaining the Center Point brand by Crossman it sells for 69.00 at walmart. Alot of disscussion over at PM has it pretty much split for best scope at 70.00 or failed and returned???
I would really like to have mildots and/or Turret scope that may allow a quicker shot out to 3-400yds. Another scope that caught my eye was the Redfield with BDC

One thing that I've learned is... you shouldn't skimp on good steak or a good scope. You jumped from a $70.00 scope to one in the $200.00 range. Exactly, how much do you plan on spending? Some good scopes in the $200.00 or less range would be Pentax Gameseeker, Mueller, Nikon Prostaff, Redfield, and Bushnell Trophy. Personally, I would stay away from a scope that is getting less than 80% positive feedback. Natchez currently has a Prostaff (4-12x40) for $129.00... a very good deal. :twocents:

$129 is a great deal, I just purchased a 4-14 Nikon buckmasters with mil dots on eBay for $210, I would definitely go with something better than a $70 scope, another thing you may want to look at is refurbished scopes? anyone have experience with these?

Just for some background I am well informed on less then steller optics I have 5 burris handgun scopes, 3 leupold rifle scopes and a Leupold VXIII 3.5-10x40 that I just aquired however beeing unemployed for over 2 years tends to tweek your way of thinking a bit that said I figured the 6tcu is a very tame rifle and may very well treat a lower end scope ok (more like I'm very curious) to see if a scope like the redfield or even the CP would work out. I did try a 2-7x36 Leapers ounce and was embarased to admit to myself that I even touched such a POC as it desinagrated in 4 shots on a 6mm handgun. I would really like to use a scope around 4-16x40 though just not spend over 200 for it. I'm not the only shooter that allows unreasonable fantasies to creep into his mind from time to time. Just hoping one of those times might come true. Like so many I'm not immune to a good sales pitch either. So do any of the scopes recommended have mildots and or turrets?

Are you talking exposed or covered target turrents?
Of the scopes I mentioned on my earlier post, only Mueller line would offer mildot scopes for under $200.00. There's the new Mueller APT (a 30mm tube) that is mildot with exposed target turrents... it's getting a lot of favorable reviews. This may be the best you can do for the amount of $$ you can spend.

The Pentax Gameseekers come with BDC reticles (you can get the 4-12x40 from TheSportsmansGuide for less than $70.00...

The Nikon Prostaffs have the option of BDC or duplex reticles... the BDC costs more.
The Redfield Revolution scopes have the option of Accu-Range or duplex reticles.
You may be able to find a Bushy Trophy with DOA reticle for under $200.00.
Other than what I have already mentioned, take a look at www.eabco.com (http://www.eabco.com) or www.swfa.com (http://www.swfa.com) for good scope prices.
You already have some pretty high-end scopes... anything less would probably be a disappointment.
I would personally stay away from Leapers or CP... put that cash toward a better scope. Good luck.

Thanks straight shooter for all the help. I started looking last night at several sites and my eyes are going bonkers at whats out there Vortex has a nice 4-20x40? w/dots but it just looks too big for the T/C so probably a mid range like 3.5-10 or 4-14x40 with a BDC or scaled down dot system the full mildot crosshair looks way too busy. I think vortex has one called balistic plex? dots on bottom half of crosshair. May not be bad to have an AO but thats an option at this point. I was concidering sending my 3-10 VX3 to leupold for mods but they want 160. for a retical and 120 for 2 knobs so buying a whole new scope makes more sense for now. I'll continue to check out your leads and let you know what I find.
