I found this shed in 2008 in a god forsaken place in NE Washington. It scores 170" on the nose as is. Squirrels chewed off a few inches of mainbeam and couple inches off the tips of the points, so im guessing 175" when fresh. Double it and add the spread and you get a pretty damn good bull... The pics do not do it justice, it is ridiculously heavy.
I was having trouble posting this, so im trying again...

Very nice!

Nice find
-
That is a beast ! Looks great for a shed that sat for several months. I am guessing by your orange you were it was fall season when you found it :dunno:.
-
sweet horn  im hopin to get on em early this year
-
Very nice! Thats a good find indeed
-
Found it during modern elk. It had been on the ground 8 months or so depending on when he dropped.
-
That antler would keep me interested in that area even if I never saw an elk. Wonder if he is still alive.
-
Thats an awesome bone! nice find
-
The mass is impressive - awesome find! I hope you looked hard for the match as those bigger bulls often dump them both very near each other to avoid the lopsided weight. It looks brushy enough there to have hidden them both pretty well.
-
WOW, that is huge. Great find .... :brew:
-
I looked really hard for the other side, but no luck.
-
Wow, love the mass on that antler. Congrats.
-
Daaamn! Holy mass! What a monster!
-
i might have a trail cam picture of that bull! I'll have to dig it up.
-
Very nice find!!
-
I guess we know where You'll be next fall. Good luck with that hunt.
-
Great shed!

Hey Sportsman, Yours is a right side, mine a left. Yep. NE WA. Match? :dunno:
-
You guys should post up a photo of the base so we can compare the shape and see if they match up. My gut says no but it would be interesting to check if they were found within the same general area.

I dont think its a match. I will try and post a pic of the base on mine. Your shed looks real heavy, and similar genetics. I'd be real surprised if you had the match for the shed I found, anything is possible, though.
-
That second shed dosn't have the tops like that other. But good finds with good mass

Here are some pics of the base of the monster shed... Now here is a dumb question: How can you tell from looking at the bases whether its off the same animal? Do you look at base diameter? Tine structure?
-
Heres a couple pics of the base on my shed. Elk dont have as destinctive bases as deer do though. The only reason I posted a picture of my shed is because I think it looks very similar to the one Sportsman picked up. This is a bull I saw a couple of times. His right was a seven point with the unique kicker just like on Sportsmans shed. From the pictures these sheds look very similar especally on the front three points. No. I dont believe they are a match. Seeings how I found my shed a couple years earlier than Sportsmans. I suppose they could be the same bull though or at least the same gene pool? It would be neat to know. Naaagh! Definately cant be the same bull cause I found that shed in a little piece of Heaven. :)
-
looks to be a different bull but has to be same gene line. eastern washington bull.
-
Talk about mass!! Can't quit looking at these!

Thats not a bad one there. Thanks for posting the pic.
-
Do I get bonus points if I tell you where you found it. LOL I'm pretty sure I saw the dude on the hoof. Tried to get a pic, but he wasn't exactly cooperating and it ain't exactly wide open country over there. ;)
-
I like!!
-
Thanks for sharing the photo's fella's! Love the freaking mass on them sheds. Maybe when I quit looking so hard for it, i'll find a shed that will go over 160!!!

That's a great bull. That weird sticker point is pretty common to bulls here in the Blues in the Southeast. I know when I was a kid and the elk were just starting to filter up into the NE corner of the state, Fish and Game considered them a branch of the blues herd.
Good luck finding him next fall... He should be the dominent bull in the area, so if you find a big herd of cows in September, he shouldn't be far behind...

I hear you. I like rifle hunting for elk up there, but I also like the idea of hunting that bull during the rut with a bow. Almost makes me want to buy a bow...
