Anyone ever hunt Ibex?
-
as soon as I am drawn. Do a search for it on here. There are a couple threads, some nice pics etc. Oh wait a minute, thats probably oryx. I want to be drawn for that one too.

Idex are all over in the (stan) countries the hunts are pretty cheap $4500. Ive been looking for someone to go with.
-
Theres a few things in those stan countries that I would like to hunt. Some have four legs, some have two.
-
I have a friend who has done one of the two.(SEAL)
-
Good for him.

I'm with you bone. I'll hunt them when I draw the New Mexico archery tag. If you happen to draw for bow, then let me know....I've got a lead on a guy that lives there and wants to trade ibex scouting for elk hunting info. Can't beat that: local knowledge and hands-on scouting for a bit of time on maps and some info about our local hunting that we know.

i would love to hunt ibex in Kazakhstan. Anyone know of good guides? Its hard to research, seems allot of the info is old. the most legitmate one Ive found has been Rick Herscher. i want to do this hunt in the next 3 years. Any info would be great

I have drawn the new mexico ibex archery. You dont need a guide or scounting help. You need to be able to shoot out to 100 yards, in the best shape of yous life, have a great pair of boots and be invisible to the ibex. The most challenging bow hunt on the planet. Should be a good year to draw due to the extra seasons.

The most agile and athletic animal I have ever seen.

You can hunt Ibex in Russia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Spain, Mexico, Hawaii and a few other places. Depends were you really want to go, cost and feel safe. I personally have no problem with any of those countries feeling safe and have been to a few. But Hawaii might a good alternate if you wan to also include a vacation for the wife and kids or be able to bring back the meat and taxidermy.

I did a mid-asian ibex hunt in Kyrgyzstan with Profi Hunt in 2007. I had a great time. I hunted in the later part of October and it was bitter cold with the ibex being very spooky as it was the last hunt of the year. The local guides were very friendly and more than competent. We did have an interpreter but he stayed in camp during the day as he didn't like the horses much. We would leave camp about 2-3 hours before light so we could get to the ibex and still have time for a stalk. We saw ibex every day but lots of them were just to far or in poor places for a stalk. The other hunter and I killed our billies out of the same group of 10-12 on day 4 if I remember correct.
I think the cost of the hunt was $4,500 and with airfair and hotels, tip and all was around $8,000.00
I do have to say the travel part of the trip sucks. Nothing really bad went wrong it just sucks having to hang out in some of the international airports.
