I wrapped up my multi-season tag hunting today, freezing my butt off this morning, around 17 degrees up the hill I've been hunting all season. I've been chasing the guy the made these rubs every day I've been out this year, over 20 days, with the exception of three days. Very nocturnal, sneaky buck that has rubbed darn near every tree under 12" circ. in this area. I pushed him out a couple times and tracked him following does in the snow two days, but could not catch up to get a shot. At least a good 3 point. The photo with the 7' scratch from top to bottom has me puzzled, couger perhaps? I enjoyed hunting more days than I ever have however and feel like it was time well-spent. Congrats on another good season to everyone out there.

I also was out today in the hopes of avoiding tag soup. I took my wife because she wanted to go. Jumped 4 does on JBLM but had no shot and didn't want to risk a bad one. My wife said she had a blast and wants to Bow hunt next year. If missing out on those does this year means my wife takes up hunting then I'll happily pay that price!
-
Better buy her a bow then!!!

:bash: I'm going to eat my elk tag. Slow year for me this year. I did get to use my deer and 1 bear tag. The last few years I've been very lucky in 08 I used 4 tags 2 bears an elk and a deer. Then last year a bear an elk and 2 deer. Still had a successful season just a little slower than the past few.
-
I get to eat good this year. Lots of soup, deer tag, elk tag, bear tag, and cougar tag! Yummy! :bash: :'(

Me too. Tag stew! :chuckle: Oh well I had a great time this year anyway! :)

Tag soup for my elk tag. I only had two days to hunt elk....found them just a little too late the day I had to leave. Oh well, maybe I'll mix it with some deer sausage. :chuckle:
-
My elk tag soup will taste slightly better with some deer burger in it. Still the best elk season of my life.
-
I knew my luck would run out soon with 3 deer between '07 and '09. I would have taken a big doe the last week if I had found one to fill the freezer, but no such luck. One mistake I won't make again is planning to hunt Western archery primarily the week between Christmas and New Years, the woods was a frigging zoo where I had seen no one for weeks prior.
-
Washington archery tag soup for me. Filled two meat tags in Montana though, so there will be protein in my fiber soup :chuckle:
-
Add me to the list... My usual spot changed to buck-only for the larchery ate season, which pretty much lengthens the odds to where I question whether it's worth it, at least in my spot...
Nearly got a nice shot at a big 2x2 blacktail in the early season, but I was sabotaged by a twig.
-
I don't think I put anything on the ground this year... including grouse.
-
chased muleys around 142 got busted by does, wind was wrong, poorly planed/ executed stocks, you know normal bow hunting ;)
can't wait for next year !!
-
Tag soup on deer, elk and grouse. First year I haven't shot a deer since 1984. Not a big deal anymore. I have managed a few coyotes though.
-
Tag soup for me on Deer, and Elk this year. I tried for at least a Doe up on Johnson Creek Rd. yesterday and saw a doe and a fox but couldn't get off a shot.
-
Washington Tag Soup, spent too much time in AK and Wy... :chuckle: :chuckle:

How can someone spend too much time in Alaska. :dunno: :chuckle:

Tag Soup for me this year! Thanks to a drunk driver in October. After being rearended by a drunk I was only able to get out 2 days in the late season. The last day I went was Friday the 31st,I'm still hurting from packing my bow around. So when I go to court,I will charge him for my lost season!By far the worst Season I have expierenced.I had three weeks in November where I wasn't allowed to hunt or fish due to concerns with my spinal chord.Thankfully nothing came up on the MRI.On top of not being able to hunt, the drunk has cost me 300 dollars of hunting money also.So to sum it up...A drunk driver took my 2010 hunting season. >:( >:( >:( >:(
-
i've got all flavors of tag soup and it is still hard to choke down, oh well i guess. come on *censored* tag for next year
-
Got my elk but no deer.. Thats ok.
-
I had special seasoning in my soup. It was a Little Naches archery bull tag! Got the deer tag filled.
-
Filled the elk tag but had to put the deer tag in the pressure cooker! Just fine by me my mind was all over elk anyways couldn't think about deer ;)
-
LOTS of tag soup for me too this year. Deer, bear, elk, turkey... They all seem to taste about the same... :dunno:
If not for Montana, I'd be a hungry dude in 2011.

We don't qualify for the *censored* Tag anymore Jim. Remember? You need 3 points or less... :chuckle:
-
Oh, wait! You drew that cow tag 2 years ago, didn't you? That DOES make you an *censored*...
-
only if i luck up and if i do, i will wear it proudly :chuckle:

Ate my beat coug deer n elk tags, not fond of bear n coug so that's not a waste. Didn't pull the release on my elk due to uncomfortable situation but that's ok. Had close calls but couldn't seal the deal, oh well had a awsome season.
Stomper, that sucks to hear that man. Ide totally fist him wth anything u can.
-
Instinct,I plan too.I'm wondering what the price should be on losing a hunting season?I have a court date on Feb.2 to stick him with the cost.My doctor just told me it would be a year, to a year in a half until I will be back to what I used to be before the accident. :bash:I hope the guy gets some help and quits drinking. That way no one else gets hurt.
-
Soup for me only because I passed on does/cows and some smaller bucks. Saw 10 bulls but on private property, within 35-65 yards. :bash: Missed a 3x3 mulie because of a yardage problem from my dad. Seen a lot of animals, not any bucks tho...
-
Tag soup for me too. Can't complain though, I passed on several decent bucks, looking for the big one, that I eventually found, but no shot. I didn't put in a very good effort for elk, so I can't complain about that either. As far as bear, well, apparently, I'm not a very good bear hunter, I don't see them that often. Hoping for some yotes and bobcats the next couple of months, and some ducks if I ever get out.

Tag Soup on my Multi-Season Deer, Elk, Bear, and Cougar Tag. Havn't been waterfowl hunting, or small game hunting this Fall/Winter.
I spent 8 or 9 afternoons during Archery and a few hours in the afternoon 1 day during Modern Firarm season trying to fill the multii-season deer tag.
Needless to say I didn't kill s*@t.
-
Deer and elk tag soup for me. Hunted the elk where they weren't, and the blacktail with bones on their heads pulled a serious dissappearing act on opening day.
The lesson learned on my first year of hunting blacktail: No matter how easy you think it will be, it won't be.
-
tag soup for me on multi season deer, multi-season elk, and spring bear permit.
I learned a lot about spring bear hunting, but did not connect. Saw one small bear.
Multi-season Elk - Had some of the best archery Elk experiences I have ever had, and had multiple opportunities where I just couldn't get a shot.
Multi-season deer - sadly no great opportunities on this one. I spent too much time in Montana during the heart of the late season.
Expensive season, but learned a great deal about an area I wanted to learn more about. 24 days in the field is a new record for me and my wife appreciated that I spread that out from September through December.
-
25 days in the field had some elk give me the biggest adrenaline rush of my life, but no shots. Could have taken a few does.but decided to pass got close to a few nice bucks, no shots. Saw 3 bears one at 40 yards and I missed right over his back. Shot him for 50. It happened fast. Tag soup for everything for me.
-
I had Tag Soup for Elk and Second Deer :'(
-
Tag soup for eastern spike bull and western deer. All modern.
I only get out for 3-4 days for elk, and I did not get out for late deer. I saw many more animals this year while out, so that was an improvement.

hmmmm.... I don't think I want to be a taxidermist when I grow up....
-
Forgot to say I did get a dandy color phase chocolate bear in August!
-
Stomper, id say for ur time loss for a year and a half n this year I say see bout gettin him for an extra 1000
-
I'll add my elk tag to the soup pot. Not for lack of tryin though. Bear and cougar tags also.
-
My work sacked most of my elk tags...sent me to Japan the weekend it opened...and came back when it CLOSED...Deer was a bust...saw fur..and BONE but not enough POINTS on it... Was in Japan for part of Turkey, the rest was spent getting a new hunter a bird... Bear, saw a sow w/ a young'un...so left her be....and cougar the same.
That and working 1200 hours of OT kind of puts a damper on things.... :bash:
