Thought this might be a cool thread to start. It could be anything hunting related. I'll start:
My resolution is to do everything I can withing my power to outsmart and kill a 150"+ whitetail...that's what's really missing from my trophy room right now that doesn't need a special permit to get. Haven't decided whether it will be with a rifle, bow or muzzleloader.
While I'm at it, please lord get me one of those special goat permits!!! :chuckle:
-
Mine is to break my 26 year sheep, moose or goat losing streak. I'm over due for an OIL tag!
-
to kill the world record whitetail in WA :chuckle:

I feel you. I have wall full with a couple 148 gross and below. I see and have pics of plenty of 150+ but have yet to get an opportunity. 2011 will be the year.

Spend more time in the field camping, hiking, fishing and hunting with my family/kids. I figure the more I am out there, the less time in front of the computer or TV at home. Also pass on the traditions and skills that were taugh to me by my father and grandfather.
-
Mine is to get one of my 6 year olds out in the field more with me, less about getting something, more about spending time with them in the woods, I'd love to also go on another sheep or moose hunt, so hopefully one or more of my buddies will get lucky in the draw this year.
-
Hopefully draw my late mule deer tag. After this year I will have 9 points. I hate waiting.
-
My resolution is to use the Governor's slightly opened door to help craft an efficent , responsive, logical, private property oriented department. I know I am a dreamer from another planet but that resolution for a world record WT is possible given the right tools (see the first sentence).
-
My main goal is to help my youngest daughter (11) to get her first buck this year. My buddy and I have a really nice whitie that we have been watching grow for the past few of years picked out for her if he makes it through the year. I also have a good 3 point blackie waiting in the wings as a back-up.
-
Maybe I will hunt Elk Bull, Blackie or Mule. Maybe Put several Apply for some Permits.
Plan to Buy new Camera with Nice Lens.
Mulehunter :)
-
To be able to shoot the first legal wolf in Washington :chuckle:
-
Draw moose or sheep? High Buck hunt? Kill any elk? Yep I could go for any of those....SHOOT WOLVES!!
-
Spend more time scouting, and start using game cams, to find that big white tail i've been looking for.
-
practice with my bow (when i buy one), get confident and skilled enough to go after some bugling bull elk this september.
get back to montana to help call for my cousins bull elk.
go on an out of state hunt with my dad, godfather, and step mom.
-
One 160+ mule deer
One 3pt or better blacktail
One 78+ antelope
One 300+ bull
Draw any permit that I put in for in washington.
-
to follow through on my commitment to myself to hunt out of state next year and from then on.
-
I'd like to kill an elk with my bow this year. It'd be my first elk. I'd also like to be extremely lucky again in the permit app's and draw a great permit again...in which case I resolve to scout my ass off.
-
To keep telling myself that it IS possible to get a branch antlered bull in this state east of the cascades!
-
I want to spend more time with other people this year and less time alone when hunting and camping...we will see how that goes. :dunno:
-
To help other people have enjoyable elk hunting experiences...and to show some restraint and hold out for a good (mature, 6+ yrs old) bull, even if that means coming home empty handed.
To dedicate as much time as possible learning about the habits of one particular blacktail...to get at least 2 trail cam pics of him...and to spend at least 5 straight days hunting him in the rut.

What's an OIL tag ? Never heard of it until this forum.

Thanx DB.

Same New Year's Resolution as the last 2 years...
...to finally draw a Montana Speedgoat Tag and fill it...
(I had no friggin' idea that an antelope tag would be this hard to draw in MT :bash: 3 years, still not drawn... :bash: :bash: and I am not trying to draw a particularly tough area either... :dunno: )
I've got points though. THIS has GOTTA be the year... :dunno:
-
To get one of those damn elusive muley's where I hunt, I would love to get at least a 4x4. Maybe I should actually do some scouting this year... On the flipside how bout fillin 2 or more of my tags....(Haven't had much luck, last buck i saw in season was a 2x2 blackie in Bonney Lake that I shot in '09)
-
i would love to see a legal animal during its legal season and not have a physical or mental block to me harvesting such animal. its been sooooo long
-
Continue losing weight to make covering ground a little easier and more fun. Limited time to hunt next year, so I want to make it more worthwhile experience. Lost 30 lbs last year, put back on 5 over the holidays, so the work is in front of me.
-
to find out where coastal native hunts ! Really just to put myself in the best possible situation both physically and mentally for hunting season . Take every experiance in and learn from it . As I get older try to slow down a bit and do more work with my optics and less with my legs . Oh yeah make enough dough to buy the Gov tags !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Im gonna be on the hunt for my first bear. Probably not gonna use a bow unfortunatly, but I will have it wil me in case I can find some unsuspecting bear in a clearcut that I can get to. :-)
-
I have two:
1. Learn my muzzleloader and take a buck with it.
2. Get my 10 year old through hunters ed. and get him started hunting Mule Deer.
-
First off, buy more guns this year. Couldnt hurt. Thinking of a good varmint rifle, possible a .223 or .243 Tikka3 lite. Second, another pistol, possibly another Sig, prolly a 229 compact for concealed carry. Lastly, scout more, talk to more OLDER hunters, learn more, hunt more and apply apply apply for more tags. Goal this year finally, bring home that Elk during archery season and get another shot at the awesome muley, I missed my chance at last year because of being a NOOB! :'(
-
I filled two last year with getting the wife her first buck and getting my bull! So one left getting a hanger muley
-
Save for the AR i've always wanted, Get a stick bow, Shoot as much as humanly possible with my wife and little girl, Actually have everything prepared and ready to go BEFORE duck and goose hunting season....
Do as much leagal fishing as possible with out a lic... Crayfish and Carp on the hit list... Not pass up on all those BT does in the earlie season... I keep thinking i'm gona see a monster. :bash: Learn some of the people i know's screen name, and meet some of the people i think are interesting from here...
-
To harvest a deer this year.
-
To be in better shape and spend more time outdoors and have fun. Oh and hopefully I will finally draw a bull tag and kill a monster.
