Spring bear special apps are up...where did ya put in for?
Monroe, Skagit for me. Close-ish to home.
Anyone else excited?! ;)
I only have two points though.... :(
-
havent read or looked yet,is the season the same,I will be putting in for kapowsin foresure unless they shortend it
-
I am going for Kapowsin but I only have one point.
-
Skagit for me, also because its close to home. I have a bunch of points so I'm due. Bring on the bears :hunter:
-
Blue Creek, Wenaha, Lincoln in that order.
-
im not gonna put in,just read the season heck I cant access the area most the time till may 15th
-
I will be applying for Lincoln again, seeings as to how there was very little pressure, due to Weyerhaeuser's access restrictions.
And I only saw a few other people hunting in unit, and only on weekends.
I heard of nobody filling their tag, and harvest reports (probably liars) show a small harvest in the last couple years.
Due to the unpopularity of the WDFW/Weyerhaeuser policy and lack of cooperation, I hope there are very few applicants, and I will be successful in drawing with 0 points.
It is near my home, and there is an old Tom Turkey that lives in a little drainage I like to hunt, along with a bear coming through occasionally......
-
I think I'll just put in for a point like I did last year. I'd put in for Lincoln just because it's close, but I don't think I'd have enough time to hunt it. Now that I think about it, I MIGHT put in for one of the NE units, and hope I don't draw, but if I do, I could spend a week over there and hopefully that would be enough time to find a bear. Probably won't even do that though, because of the cost of driving over there and back, and if I do go over there I'd prefer to do it with a partner rather than by myself.
-
I think I am going to point it.
-
Skagit for me.Only one point so I'm not too excited.

Lincoln because it's one of the areas I hunt
-
Lincoln because it's one of the areas I hunt
Same here, but was drawn last year, did not really get any info from WH, or the WDFW, only allowed access on weekends and after 3:00 on weekdays, only a portion of unit was permit area, and the only 2 times WH reported sightings/activity or damage, it was outside of permit area... :bash:
But I have been after a Turkey in there for 3 years now, so I will try to get drawn again, just in case.....

Anyone have a link for the applicable areas? I can't find them on the website. Are they in the 2010 regs?
Thanks

I believe it closes March 10th, but it could be the end of March. Can't remember for sure
-
Cool. I got some time to get my act together then. :chuckle:
Thanks,
-
Just double checked, and it is March 10th
-
good call i appreciate it.

-
Kelly Hill
-
hmmm... thanks for the reminder guys... gotta do that this week...
-
49 degrees for me, but where do you find how many points you have?
-
I'll be busy with sports. Point for me this year.
-
I put in for Monroe/Skagit :IBCOOL:
-
monroe...
-
wenaha, 2 points. Drew two years ago with 6, not expecting a permit but it's still exciting kicking off the permit seasons.
-
when do we have to put in. leaving monday for arizona and new mexico hunting. Rick
-
I think I read earlier in this thread that the deadline is March 10th. Pretty sure I'm gonna be in for just a point this year. I'm not feeling rich enough right now to justify 2 or 3 trips over to the eastside. And there aren't any westside permits I'm willing to burn 6 points on.
-
thank's that Lincoln is a tough one. i put my time in last year.i know were i would go now. hoping for kowpowsin. Rick
-
Not sure if Im gonna put in for a hunt or just points this year. Last year drew the Lincoln unit and killed my first bear ever. Its close to home for me and I put in a ton of time to do it, which doesn't look like I will have this year. And as has been said earlier kind of a half hearted effort on part of WDFW and Weyco. But the season was long and saw lotsa elk and deer and was cool just getting out. You could walkin to all Weyco land but couldn't drive in till after 3pm on weekdays. Plan to put some miles on the bike and binos :) Couple pics. Not huge but I was thrilled to get her.

copalis.....this is one i got there Memorial weekend 09
-
Putting in for Skagit. Drew last year and got a bear so probably just adding points this year.
-
put in for skagit, hopefully get drawn this year.
-
Probably Lincoln, but maybe Kapowsin.
-
I'm just putting in for Monroe. I got drawn last year with 2 pts, but turned my tag back in. I had to have open heart surgery, and they gave my points back. Got my fingers crossed that I get drawn again with 3 pts. Good luck to you all. Mark
-
Check out Idaho. In the past, they practically begged you to hunt bears in Areas 10 & 12 (Lolo region). The nonresident license was a couple hundred bucks (bad) but the tags were $31.50 and they let you bag two per year (good). I haven't been down there in a while, so I'd suggest checking IDFG online.
-
Whens tags due?
-
Tags? You can purchase your tag anytime. If you want to apply for a spring bear permit you will need to purchase the tag first. You can purchase your application at the same time. Applications for the spring bear permit must be submitted by March 10th.
-
Points. There are really only two areas I care to hunt in the state for spring bear, and neither have a tag yet, so just waiting to hopefully hunt those areas someday.
-
i have 5 points now. and the way this state is running the wdfw i think i may bow out WDFW SUCKS . UNTIL THEY LOOK AT SPORTMAN AS REAL ASSETS. GET A CLUE WDFW. I KNOW YOU ARE WATCHING.
-
im not gonna put in,just read the season heck I cant access the area most the time till may 15th
Rasbo what do you mean???

In the 2010 hunting regulation pamphlet. It's available online if you don't have a copy.
-
Here you go:
-
BOBCAT, thanks for post. 6 pts...... I can't wait to put in.
Mulehunter.
-
hahaha I guess what I'm getting at is if they are gonna extend it or not through June! I keep hearing all the rumors but haven't seen anything yet.
-
Where are you hearing the rumors? Even in the proposals for the 2012 spring bear seasons it has Kapowsin ending on May 15th:
-
(For westside spring bear hunts, the Department is recommending increasing the season length in the Kapowsin
Tree Farm unit from April 15-May 15 to April 15-June 15 based on discussions with the landowners. There is a slight anticipated increase to the number of hunter days.)
This was posted by someone in a different discussion on here. I've also heard this from other locals and friends as well. I know what I'm doing regardless, would just be an added bonus with the extra month! Gets me that much closer to September 6th!!!!! :chuckle:

Anyone have info on the Blue Mountains? What unit would you suggest there and why? I've been saving points to put in there, got 6 in the bag now and might put in for real this year.
-
Thanks BKR, will try to contact Hogsniper. By the way, good luck on the coming season!!!!!
-
I'm officially in for the Monroe unit. Only got one point so probably not but who knows.
Sideswipe...you get drawn give me a call. I'll come up and hunt with you. I'd even help pack boo boo out for ya.

depends on what kind of hunt you want...
physical or easy?
-
:yeah: I may have a suggestion or two
-
cowpissin
-
Rasbo, you should put in for 154, I know a little spot I bet you would like, maybe even a couple ;)
-
JIMKD8 ... I sent a PM, thanks for the help.
BLUEBULLS ... Probably an easy to medium hunt. I can still do the hard steep stuff, but pretty much shot for the rest of the day after an hour of climbing. It sucks getting old...
I used to live in Clarkston during the early to mid 80's and hunted a lot of the Mt. View, Lick Creek, Peola, Couse and Grand Ronde units. I was thinking I might explore around the Wenaha unit, thinking lots of permits must equal lots of bears.
-
The best thing about the spring bear permit drawing is they have results in a timely manner. Come on North Skagit!!!
-
Is there a set day for the drawing, or it more of an anytime in mid-March type of thing?
-

wenaha is a physical hunt, low success rate due to people not wanting to put in the effort. there are planty of bears but you usually have to work pretty hard. Blue creek would be a great hunt if you can access some good land.
-
I put in for skagit, but probably won't get drawn.

Im pulling for ya Wea300mag.
-
i will put in for Monroe and skagit but drew last year so most likely want draw this year. if anyone draws Monroe let me know i have all the info and some good info from last year i will be willing to pass along.
-
-A point 4 me this year! A wedding right in the middle of when I would want to go plus no spare Vaca This year:(
-
I ended up applying for Lincoln, largely because it's local.
-

I hunted lincoln last year and had pretty good luck finding a bear. I bumped into a weyerhaeuser police officer and he told me exactly where he had last scene one.

Congratulations! That's quite an accomplishment in that unit.
Got any pictures? We'd love to see them.
-
All I got were pictures, left them there for this year...
-
if you look close, you will see that these are 2 different bears, I actually beleive there were 3, a sow, a 2 year old cub, and a big boar coming through my little trail crossing.
-
Whew, almost missed the deadline. Put in for Monroe and North Skagit. Whopping two point so not holding breath but ya never know ;)
-
Copalis for me....just because it is close by and I have access to a cabin in Ocean Shores.
-
I put in for Skagit with 2pts so I'm sure I won't get drawn. :( I'm not sure I want it this year anyway with the way the economy is treating me besides I'd probably end up shooting a 400 lb color phase & end up with another Taxidermy bill which I don't need. :yike:
