This morning my buddy saw a white tail doe in northern Whatcom County, does anyone know about any on the westside? I was REALLY surprised!

My first year archery hunting (95), I was hunting a winter wheat field (surrounded by trees....bordered by the river, etc) outside of the Clear Lake area,.....tons of tracks...all over. Sure enough, I jumped a nice 4x4 whitey....he bolted into a tunnel he had in this huge black berry pile. We played cat and mouse for several weeks...never did get a shot off...but spotted him several times.
I heard through the rumor mill someone blasted him with a shotgun, hitting him in the leg...he managed to make it to his hole in the brush...the shooter did not recover him, sad to say. That was the rumor at least.

The columbian Whitetail on the westside are protected. They are over by the coast. I have seen a few myself

Wow, I live right there, and go down there quite a bit and have seen a lot of blacktail, but never any whitetail. I'm not calling you a liar or anything, just if you see any others, I would love to see a pic.
The only whitetail I have seen on the west side were at the game refuge west of cathlamet on the columbia.

I've seen a couple Blacktails that sure looked and acted Whitetailish, figured they could have been cross-breeds.
I think what happens is someone will catch a Whitetail fawn east of the mountains and let it go in Blacktail country. And then they end up breeding with the Blacktails.
