Anyone going to the dog show in Puyallup this weekend? My female Chessie is entered every day. I'll be watching- I pay a gal to show her. Ring #7 at 9am. Sat. I'll probably be wearing camo standing in the back somewhere hiding from my dog so she doesn't watch me the whole time she's in the ring. We'll see how she does. This is the first show she's been entered in with a lot of bitches to compete against. In four shows in Portland next week- gets expensive fast- hope she does well.
I'll probably be breeding her around June pending all her health clearances come back positive. If you're interested come down. She'll be at the sportsman show with me in the Rainier Hunting Retriever Booth on Friday night and probably on and off Saturday.

hope she makes ya proud or prouder

Good luck! i watch the stuff on TV sometimes. I love to watch animals work. I'd say the only reason to be embarrassed is if you were going to a cat show. :)
-
Very cool! Be sure you don't hide to well so you can get some pics to share with us. Would love to her

I as well will catch it on the tube once in a while, love it when a hunting dog does well, or one of them big ole slobbery st bernards as oppsed to the little toy dogs. Good luck.

I love this thread, you can use the word "bitches" in it without getting in trouble.
-
good luck Happy...I got into showing for about 2 years ...
-
Very cool, good luck!
I wish they woulds mixup the toy groups with the working and hound groups though, it would sure make it more interesting, lol
Kibbles and bits, lol

:chuckle: Best of luck to you both, Happy!

Good luck Paul. Hope she gets some points. Gotta to love a good looking bitch that retrieves like crazy.

Reminds me of the movie "Best of Show"
That is one hilarious movie. Maybe I'll watch it again and see if there is some dude in the back in camo. LOL
-
"He was all over her like she was made out of ham!"
I try to make a point of watching at least a little bit of the Westminster dog show on tv each year.
Might be a bit embarrassed if you entered a rabbit show if you're over the age of 15.

you want embarrassing, my Mom got a small poodle that is PINK. Seriously PINK. I guess they call it Apricot Color but, its pink. When I showed up for Christmas she had a PINK dress on a PINK poodle....so wrong in soo many ways....I hate to admit it but, it really is an awesome dog. Plays hard with my Chessies and is lightening fast. Funny watching Ty try to hump her a few times, (shes fixed)dogs humping always makes me laugh--
-
Best of luck to both of you. Field and show dogs cost a lot of time and even more $$, sometimes I wish I had the time to just attend some of the events, watching a dog doing what it likes to do is just awesome, that is the main reason I bird hunt. It sure is not for the harvest as this year has kicked my butt :(.
-
Congrats to you and your girls :) :) Sounds like she made you proud!!

That ain't even close to embarrassing......................Went acrossed the border to the reproduction clinic to make some popsicles and the border guard ( a gal ) didn't understand the full context of it until I said " You know...............have him whacked off " that was on the canadian side going in............coming back........wouldn't you know it another woman border guard, she too got inquisitive and her boss who heard the whole thing turned and said "You know, they do it manually" and then he looked at me and said "I bet your # 1 on his list right now". I guess the "Freeze Semen" just flys right over the top of most folks heads, cause the awnser I got was a funny look and "Huh" and "Eh" followed by......."How they do that?"

Good news in dog show land!-
Sunday: Kaie is winners bitch. Meaning she beat all other females. 4 point major towards her CH.
Monday: Kaie is again winners bitch and beats three specials(already Champions) and is awarded Best Opposite.(male won best of breed, she is best opposite(bitch))
Walked away with 9 points and two major wins. This sometimes takes people years to get their two required major wins.(major means there must be enough other (females in this case) to compete against.
I'm a "Happy" dude. Kaie is well on her way to being a show champion and has her AKC Senior Hunter title to go along with it....."what's the show if its got no go?"
She's off to show in Portland Wednesday through Sunday. I sure hopes she finishes her title that fast- save me A LOT of cash!

Congrats!...proud papa....

"Is that a portrait a the dog?" Lol
Love that Miller High Life commercial of the dog show. :chuckle:
-
Another "Happy" day- Kaie won in Portland again today- been a great two weeks for her....it is possible, by somewhat of a long shot she could become a Champion tomorrow if she wins over all the bitches at the show. Keeping my fingers crossed.
just keep singing "I'm too sexy" Right Said Fred- gawd that is a horrible song and will be stuck in everyones' head who reads this until they get home and have a cold one! :chuckle:

the last update until the Seattle KC show in March-
Kaie took second place on Saturday. Handler said she was being a PITA. They had a chat about her behavior that evening and got on the same page.
Kaie won winners bitch and best of winners on Sunday for another 2 points.
Two week total was 4 majors won and 13 points tallied up. Need two more and she's have a CH(show champion) title to go in front of her name and the SH(senior hunt test title) at the end.
Planning a very nice breeding in June for anyone contemplating a Chesapeake....
-
Right On Happy! I knew you would find a good bitch some day! :chuckle: Congrats to You and Kaie, that's awesome news! You should be very proud! Dano

CONGRATS! I am a huge proponent of dogs with titles at both ends!
Our youngster P!nk was in Portland too and she did alright for being in a very awkward-looking growth stage at the moment. She's back home with us (we co-own her with her breeder/our handler and she takes care of the bench show part) to get on some birds in prep for hunt test season! WHOO HOOO!
..and where, ahem, are the PUPPY PICTURES to accompany this thread? I know the show pics aren't available yet, but I know you must have other pics of your girl!
