Which would you choose and why? Ruger has a 22 inch barrel with a one in ten twist, Weatherby has a 24 inch barrel with a one in twelve twist. Have not owned a Weatherby in a lot of years. If I remember Weatherby and Remington use the same rings and bases.

The Weatherby, it will be out of the box accurate with a decent trigger, the Ruger triggers suck by comparison.
-
I've got a stainless Vanguard in 7mm, love that gun. Can't beat the price.
-
The ruger will kick the shooter harder....
-
Have Weatherby barrels improved over the last 40 years or so? I have always been under the impression they were a one shot rifle due to inaccuracy when the barrel gets hot.
-
I will not buy another Ruger after they told me their quality standard for accuracy is 2 inches at 50 yards.
-
What caliber are you getting?
I have a vanguard sub MOA in 300 WSM.. its freaking spectacular. One thing to keep in mind though.. Vanguards are Howa's.. so you might want to take a look at a Howa 1500 too.. Bottom line, for the price and if you can get one that is SUB MOA, it is unbeatable when it comes to overall value for the buck.

"I must regretfully inform you, Mr. Jones, that I'm not 100%in love with my Ruger M77's trigger" :P
...never fired a Wby myself,so i can't help you there.

:chuckle: :chuckle: I am not in love with my ruger markIII's trigger either  several aftermarket triggers make quick work of ruger m77's 5000lb trigger pull ;)

Other than the crappy triggers in them I realy like the vanguards. One of the easiest actions to bed, the back of the recoil lug is tappered so your not going to lock it in like on a lot of actions I've bedded.
Timney makes a replacment trigger that is a drop in with no mods needed.
I dont realy dislike 77's but I'd buy a vanguard over a rugger 77.
