very interesting read ;) high lights that really caught my eye

Until all of the provisions of the
Washington wolf policy expressed in this chapter are met, wolves are
unprotected in Washington wherever they are found on state or private
land.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 10. Issuing a citation or arresting a person
for taking a wolf on state or private property or possessing a wolf
carcass or any parts of a wolf taken on state or private property is
prohibited.

Post by: bigtex on January 16, 2011, 06:44:39 PM: It won't pass. There are numerous bills like this every year that try to make more of a statement then actually getting passed. Wolves are currently under the direct management of USFWS in this state, WDFW is simply a subordinate manager of them.

Won't happen. WDFW Enforcement is under an agreement with USFWS that they must enforce federal USFWS laws. WDFW also has an agreement with NMFS/NOAA. If they break the agreement WDFW will lose federal authority as well as $ that USFWS provides to WDFW to provide for the enforcement.

There are a few different bills that are coming up soon that removes wolves from being federaly protected. Something like this is a very good idea if that happens.

I know you are right here in Washington, but how does the current program in Idaho effect Wolf management there?

Can someone on this site please post names and email addresses to send our elected officials our thoughts on this topic? I want to voice my concerns to the right people. I've followed this wolf debate on here as well as on the general thread page. Seems to me that all the time spent posting and replying on here would be better spent letting the policy makers know how we as a group feel and vote which might at least give us a chance to be heard, myself included. I ask because I just do not know where to look for the names to send letters to. Give me the names and I'll do it. What about the rest of you?
