Haha I wear them on my lanyard ;)

Nice shoot. You don't want to wear the collars on your lanyard unless you want to look like Flavor Flav. Besides they will crack and fall off. The guys that have the plastic taurus bands will wear those.

Ya from what ive seen there kinda rare. I have been watching those 2 for 4 years and they finally decided to come into the field that we were hunting today. We had lost track of them for a year.
-
A few years back we had 14 with collars come into our decoys and stand there and look at us. Unfortunately the goose didn't open until 8:00 and they were all RED collars. Three of the birds were double banded. I was going to shoot my one double banded dusky for the year and my buddy talked me out of it. They finally flew off and the next group that came in I shot two western and my buddy dropped a dusky. I gave him a pile of crap for it.

Oh man that sucks! that must have been hard to watch them just sit there.

That is cool. I hope to get a band and mount it someday.

When I was in college, oh so many moons ago, I had a part time job for the Department of Ecology making those bands for geese all around the country and in Canada. I got a few letters from really happy hunters. One old guy wrote how he appreciated all the hard work we did for the geese and his chances to get one hunting. It was pretty nice.
If you guys see those neck bands, you can report them even if they are not harvested. They actually provide the biologists more info than a leg band since they can be reported multiple times.
Nice shooting!
