I don't have permission to post the pics yet, but it probably won't be long before they end up on MM. Remember the gentleman who scored the monster set of sheds last year.....looks like he did it again. Biggest damn thing I have ever seen. 451 inch (wiht a 40 inch spread) 8x8. Old *censored* managed to survive the govenors tag team and the raffle tag team after him. and guess what.......that 400 inch 7x7 typical is still at his side. Absolutely incredible!!!!!
Sorry for the tease, but I thought I'd at least give you an update.
sorry Jack....not 418.....451
-
I was up bear scouting a couple weeks ago and got to see the 451 bull at a private residence....incredible bull! Even more inpressive when you can put your hands around them.
The guy who found them again seems to be a really nice guy and pretty humble. It was really interesting to listen to the degree of effort that goes into picking up those sheds!
Hope you get the pics up soon.
rubblesPH
-
Somebody paid good money for him I surprised he made it :dunno:
-
I would bet that he doesn't make it another year. Seems that he's getting pretty well patterned and the word is getting out.
Nothing against the auction hunter, but I personally hope that someone from WA gets to put their tag on him - incredible bull.
-
A lot of time and effort went in to finding a 400 bull last year. They knew they were out there but couldn't find em. That's really going to drive the price up now for the governor tag. I think I'll just buy one raffle ticket like last years winner did.
-
This teasing is a bunch of BS, heck just show the pics of the 400 class 7x7, I'd be happy with that.
-
M-ray,
Maybe they're hanging on the Oregon side during the season. Hmmmmm.
-

Well I don't think we'll have to worry about anyone from out of state getting their hands on him... Todd Riechert will buy the governor's tag almost garunteed as he has the past few years now!!
-
Come on Bone dont keep us all in suspense, get permission we want to see that bad boy!
-
I'm working on it. I've got 4 pics. Friendship is more important though, but I hope I get the OK as this bull is incredible. I saw him 3 years ago along withthe 7x7. They have been together since. Two 400 inch bulls standing side by side is something to behold, especially if its NOT high fenced.
-
Incredible, no problem was just given ya a litttle chit, cant wait though.
-
I thought the Governors tag was already purchased for something like $63K. I'll go out and see what I can find.
What I meant was a draw tag holder from WA taking that big boy....sorry for the confusion - Again, nothing against Todd or any other Auction tag holder - I think it is a great source of funding for WA.....would just like to see an avid WA elk hunter/resident with max points put his tag around that horn......especially if I am that person :tung:
-
haha no worries rubbles! I was just clarifying what you were talking about!! and yeah no doubt, I would love to be the one with that tag!! especially because I hunt archery so doing it with a bow would be unbelieveable!!
-
here they are...

very nice bone!! now that they are actually out!! :chuckle: Sucks holdin somethin like that in huh?!

The story I got was that Riechert offered him a mint to guide him to this bull and he wouldn't do it. He turned them down. No matter, its just a matter of time before he gets nailed. What an animal.
-
same story I got bone - although he took him to another one is what I heard for $4000.... NO CLUE HOW TRUE IT IS, SO DON'T QUOTE ME ON IT!! JUST WHAT I HEARD! :dunno:
-
It is for sure archery.......that thing is absolutely amazing, and to have so many after him and he is still kickin it with his buddy. No fences here as the Eastmans would say.
-
No fences here as the Eastmans would say.
:chuckle:
-
Thanks Bone, what an incredible animal, with bulls like that around, the draws are going to get real tough. Does that bull hang in the general area were scott killed his bull this season? Pretty good genetics down there.
-
That an amazing bull. What do you think a bull like that would score last year??? You tink it could of scored 420-425 and grew that much in a year. Or do you think when they get that big the slow slow down a bit.
-
I guess somethings money can't buy.......
The really amazing thing is how many people including my self know the general area the bull lives and he still can't be pimped out when it counts especially with the kind of money being offered for his ass.
I wonder how many man hours were spent looking for him this year?
-
Just waiting for my tag. :P ;)
-
would just like to see an avid WA elk hunter/resident with max points put his tag around that horn
The Raffle tag winner tried for him! is 29 days of hunting avid enough for ya? He was close, never got a good look at him but knew he was in the same area a few times cause he was close to Richert's & his posse he ended up with like a 356 pisscutter!
-
That bull would cost me a lot of money too because I would have to buy a bigger house to put the mount.
-
[The Raffle tag winner tried for him! is 29 days of hunting avid enough for ya? /quote]
Absolutely......congrats to him on the 356 "pisscutter"
-

How many days from September 1st -25th did the raffle winner hunt?
-
Not exactly sure in Sept ... he hunted alot woth his bow and has several on tape including a hand full larger than what he ended up with but all in all by the end of his hunt which was early in December he had hunted 29 days, he had a couple of 10-11 day trips and then a few 3-4 day trips until he harvested.
-
All I can say is WOW!
Pretty cool the guy with the sheds would not sell out......that would be tough with the amount of money being thrown around that bull.
Truly amazing bull.
Leads me to a question about really big bulls and commercialism, I will start a new thread so I wont jack this one.
-
That bull is something else for sure, wow!
-
Hopefully he is a true "stud" and spreading those awesome genes around. Amazing bull for sure. How old does everyone think that bull is??
MS
-
Someone "in the know" should PM me and take me out there to shoot him on the hoof... How great would it be to get amazing pictures of this guy alive and walking. I'd keep my lips sealed...attorney client privilege you know. I could throw in an amazing weekend of entertainment in Walla Walla as I know a bunch of the winemakers and get special treatment...if you know what I mean... ;)
-
He was fully mature 3 years ago, so I would guess AT LEAST 9
-
that thing is as big as they get. That would be crazy to have an opportunity to kill something like that. I am glad that this guy did not sell out. Just proves that you still need something more than money to get a trophy.
-
Oh, I think money can buy you elk like that all day long. Just not that one
-
would just like to see an avid WA elk hunter/resident with max points put his tag around that horn

I think reicherts was 387 mark... no biggy though - I woulda passed on them both!!! :chuckle: And that thing is truley a monster!!
-
here's another picture of the bull....
-
anddd.... here's the smaller of the two...
-
WOW! :o
-
That thing is HUGE :P What an awesome bull, I'm glad the a true sportsman was able to get those sheds!
-
I'm glad you got the picture of the 7 on here. HUGE
-
That second bull sheds , those are older sheds arent they. I have seen pics of that bull when he was bigger than that.
-
Bone -After I sent you that message this morning I kept looking at the file and couldn't get it to work... I was a little pissed and then finally I figured it out after work today and here it is!! :chuckle: That thing is a monster too!
-
That second bull sheds , those are older sheds arent they. I have seen pics of that bull when he was bigger than that.
I thought they were too - I thought reichert killed him this past year and it was 387 and that those sheds were from last year?? The picture I have of the one he killed this year looks very very similar to that set.... I dunno know though, there is more than just one elk out in the woods!?
-
I honestly don't think riechert got the seven that was hanging with the big guy.
-
your probably right bone... stories are stories - either way the one he got was a toad!!
-
I just found it, those smaller sheds would go 393 with a 40 inch inside and were found in 2003. I have a picture from a secret buddy of mine and that bull is bigger than that but had not been seen for a couple years now.
-
at 451, wouldn't that be bigger that skoronski's mossback bull from last year in utah? bigger than any utah bull or any other bull i've ever heard of, except for the farm bulls.
that thing is a pig. not sure what else to say.
-
yeah I think your right jackelope... and in WASHINGTON?! who woulda guessed?! :yike: lol
-
Had anyone ever seen the pictures of the 500 class sheds that guy claimed to have found about 4 years ago? The guy lived in the town of Dusty Wa.
-
-
did he find them in the selway-bitterroot wilderness?
:)
-
I am seriouse about that, the guy sells winches or something and was down at the rocky mountain elk foundation show in Reno and had shown the pics to a few people down there and some video footage. Everyone was talking about it. Just wondered if anyone else herd of it.
-
He claimed he found them in the Blues.
-
Thats the third set of 400 inch antlers I have seen so far this sping from Washington bulls. They are out there fellas.
-
So is bigfoot......... :P
-
and littlefoot :chuckle:
500 inch
-
Its only 49 inches bigger than this bull :chuckle:. I dont beleive it either.
-
All these 400" sets out there we sure seem to suck at killing big bulls around here whats up with that :dunno:
-
Those are a BIG 49 inches though.
-
Speaking of Littlefoot, we need him to come over to this site.
-
i think he has deserted mm too. he said some goodbyes a while back and he hasn't been back in a longgggg time.
-
Its funny thing when the Yakima nation shows up when you post pics of GIANT bulls in a ceeded area....................
-
All these 400" sets out there we sure seem to suck at killing big bulls around here whats up with that :dunno:
haha very well put!!! I guess we need to spend more time in the woods!! :chuckle:
-
I think the toughest thing for most of us is not passing on the small ones... Most of us haven't killed enough elk to satisfy our needs so we wack the first legal one that walks by!!! Including getting a special draw permit - something legal and bigger than anything you've killed before and it's down without a blink of an eye!!
-
the biggest challenge i would say in this state is private land.
-
Well put archery288. There is no way I would let a 300" bull walk with my bow even knowing there are a handfull of 400's out there. Like you said we dont get many opportunities here in this state to take decent bulls every year. There are a few secrets out there but I am speaking in general.
-
Those are some increadible bulls no matter what state your in
-
All these 400" sets out there we sure seem to suck at killing big bulls around here whats up with that
The problem is there arent that many tags given out down there to hunt for them!
-
What an awesome shed! You don't see a bull like that everyday...WOW. Does anyone know what general area those where found?
-
I do but I'm a geezer And I can't remember???? (https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fbestsmileys.com%2Ffingers%2F1.gif&hash=0a970db0c7490e6a70a1607cd14e901dee3caca6) I think it was the Tucannon ... no wait the Dayton mmmm or maybe it was the Wenaha ... Or possibly Blue Creek ... NO I GOT IT! try Lick Creek & Couse or Mountainview ... MMM no I can't remember????
I know I'm a :sas:
-
Mark you never fail to amaze me!! :chuckle: thats a helluva general area there!! only a few hundred miles!! haha
-
:chuckle: How bout "Right between Blue Creek and Couse!" Now thats only a couple hundred mile square!
-
:chuckle: :chuckle:
-
I'll give ya another hint ... It's between Mayview and the Oregon Border! :chuckle:
-
Basically, no offense Funkster, but ask a silly question and you'll get one of them answers. If you knew where he was, would you post it on the internet for the world to see.
I think Private land and no roads will keep the majority of the Yakima nation out, but I don't want to start anything, just a thought.
-
I does not seem to matter where this bull hang out. There is a handfull of people and some pretty good hunters that have tried to harvest him but he always seem to come out on the winning side. This bull is already a legend and doesent even know it :IBCOOL:
-
Yep, thats what makes it cool.
-
By those last pictures I have a feeling I know Where.
-
Here is a little comparison.......I was under the impression they were bigger this year....how in the hell could you tell. Once a bull hits 400, I think you puthte tape away. :)

-
HOLY *censored* BONE!!!! Is that the same bull or a different one??!! :yike:
-
I was under the impression it was the same bull.
-
WOW!! It's a little weird how he split up top though?? usually they carry out the same horn characteristics (for the most part) year to year?!
-
not really matched up very well are they. Funny if there were 4 of them *censored*s running around there.
-
Funny thing is... there probably is!!! And probably even a few more than we think!! Thats always the case!! I know up where we hunt, we shot a 344 bull 2 years ago archery hunting and thought it was the biggest one with the 12 or 13 cows it had, and as the bull was running off we heard another bull bugle turned around and a bigger bull looked identical came in and took the cows away. Went back in there a couple days later and seen two different bulls as big as the one we got and had no clue they were even around!
-
I would think those are two different bulls :dunno: :dunno:

That's cause the big boy isn't allways tending the herd! ;)
-
haha yeah yeah!!! ;)

By those last pictures I have a feeling I know Where.
I think that's his house not where he found them?
-
haha yeah yeah!!!
:sry: you knew that! (https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fbestsmileys.com%2Fdarwin%2F2.gif&hash=e304e9c4d5556e13609fef57c11646c41347af3f)

:chuckle: :chuckle: Thanks Mark, maybe you too someday will learn and grasp all this great knowledge!! :chuckle:
-
these big boys are here more then we know. washington just hides its trophys well for those who are willing to go that extra mile to achieve them.
-

I wasn't to clear on that guys, sorry. What I meant was east or west side, I don't think posting that is gonna hurt this bulls chances do you? Why I asked was to gain info on where big bulls hang and the habit they live in. I have no interest hunting this bull from the sounds of it they have a small army after him and I try very hard to get away from the crowds. Anyways,it still is a awesome bull shed hope I didn't offend anyone by asking.
-
Thats a nasty eastsider Funkster. Pure rocky mountain there. I still cant get over the fact WA has bulls like that running around. Curious what all the big wigs plan on spending on the goveners tag this year with all this publicity? Time to call in the guys with the pretty baby blue shirts. :chuckle:
-
I heard that bull is in the ............
I don't think so :chuckle:
-
I think he has already bought it for something like 64,000. He got one heck of a deal. That would go way more in AZ
-
yeah thats pocket change for that tag up here!!! :chuckle:
-
Yeah, I heard 64 g's too right after I posted the question. I couldn't imagine having that kind of "play" money. I got an empty pit in my stomach after dishing out the cash on my Swaro's. I think the most I would realistically ever pay to go on a "once in a lifetime" hunt, would be ten grand to go hunt in Sonora :dunno:
MS
-
I wouldn't pay that money to hunt elk in Washington but I'm glad someone else did
-
If I had as much money as reichert or some others within our state - I wouldn't bat an eye at spending it to go hunting!! But, as of right now I don't!! haha :chuckle:
-
hope I didn't offend anyone by asking.
funkster no offense taken I was just being a :sas: but in agreement with Bone these animals are not as easy to find as one might think and the locations once found are not given up easily, I know you were just curious but the way you put it the first time isn't going to get you any info! ;)
I hunted him with the raffle tag holder this past year and it was some of the nastiest $hit I'd ever been in, it's alot of hard work that I wouldn't be willing to just give it out to anyone! You'll have to get me drunk and try! :party1:
-
So M-Ray when ya coming down buddy! I got some really good "wiskey" for ya to try :puke:
-
That looks like a bull that i have wanted to hunt in eastern oregon for a long ass time........
unfotunatly im stuck with spikes untill i can draw a branched antler bull tag....
nice freaking horns!
-
Thats got to be two different bulls???? Both awesome for sure..When I win that powerball, Im going to go get me that gov. tag...And try and find me a big ass bull like that.......Those would be tough bull's to get with a bow...Hell there probably herded up in may? With a waiting list longer than the Columbia river...
-
i agree they are different bulls. have to be. last years sheds look like a red stag...this year's set is totally different.
-
Man thats a testament to the country....
-
Man thats a testament to the country....
no kidding!!
-
So I am afraid to say it but does this mean the states spike only rule and draw system is working?
-
Would appear so.
-
maybe too good.
-
Those pictures are definately of two different bulls. Also that first one was actually filmed in a hunting video but obviosly not harvested.
-
So bone are you saying you believe these are the same bull?
-
They look like two different bulls to me. :dunno:
-
Well supposedly they were supposed to be, but they sure don't look like it to me. I believe the one was the one Riechert was after. :dunno: Any of the three are one in a million and they are on the same ridge. :yike:
-
All I can say is??? ... different bulls!
-
I know that if todd can spend that kind of money on a tag, he can definantlly pay me more for my cedar logs. he owns richert shake and shingle in toledo.
-
Talked to one of Tod's buddies Wed, Dan Agnew bought the Wa tag this year. Said they had the 7 point sheds at the auction, a little incentive, or motiveator if you will... Might be a eye opener for old Dan, as he hunts the White Mountain Indian Res annually... Probally a little tougher up here......
-
A friend of mine has hunted with Todd and said that his idea of a hard hunt consists if beginning and ending the day at the Marriott. He has some great bulls but it sounds like he hasnt worked very hard for most of them. He has a nice chunk of land in Lewis County with quite a few nice bulls on it and one hell of a "tree fort" overlooking one of his oat fields.
-
Those are some dandy sheds! I wouldn't mind seeing those bulls in person.
So whats the deal this guy always buys the tag from whoever gets it?
-
The goveners tag is a tag put up for auction and people bid on it and the highest bidder can hunt whenever he or she wants for any elk pretty much within washington!
-
The tag is only the half of it. What about the teams of guys that are hired to help locate and sit on a bull, while you sit back and drink coffee. Now thats hunting. His money though and I am glad he can do it. It would be nice if there were a couple of thos eguys that liked it so that the bids could go higher and even more funds would come in for our wildlife.
-
I was wondering the same thing......how far someone could push them in the bidding before they cried uncle :dunno:
-
As much as time and money I spend on hunting each year, I would be money ahead to just buy the Governor's Tag and hire the army. :chuckle: At least I'd kill a bull each year in a week or less, but that's not my idea of what hunting means to me. I'd love to have the access that the tag gets you, though.
-
Not that it makes any differance, Because any of those bulls are once in my life time bulls.....But just for convesation sake. I was over at a taxidermist buddy of mine ,And there happend to be three Game wardens at his place" He's doing a life size elk decoy for them" two of wich were retired one from Longview the other from Naches..The other "Ken Jount" from wallla walla. Said that bull was 440......?????But Like I said befor I would give my wife and 2 of the 4 of my kids for a shot at one of those.. :'( :'(

Draw odds are crashing daily for our state. Cat is out of the bag, Utards on Monster Muleys found out about all of our 400 inch bulls running around. I was never going to draw it anyway :dunno:
-
Well just from the little info I gathered from this thread I think I might have seen this same bull 2 summers ago. Our jaws hit the floor we we saw him just standing there feeding. Can't be for sure if it is or not but it was memorable!
-

I don't see it having any effect on our draw odds. Lots of things you can whine about in this state, but allowing non-resident access is not one of them. This is the most restrictive state around for NR's. The upfront, non-refundable NR license and tag fee and squaring of points will keep them away. That being said, I bet the Gov. tag starts going through the roof. But since I'm not bidding on it and the proceeds go to the state, I'm all for it!
-
It may not affect the draw odds a bunch but I say why risk it and quit bickering with the boys from utah on MM and let that post go away. nwhunter

no bickering from me, every time I post something I get the nuke button. :)

Interesting thread....Boneaddict...your last sentence sums it up. My son and I have drawn several late whitetail buck permits in the Blues over the past years, and on one of those trips, I believe the late 90's we had the opportunity to watch two absolutely incredible bulls together for over an hour. Snow on the ground, cold and sun out. One was an 8X8 with a 7X7 keeping him company. I've seen big bulls before, but how these guys packed that much head gear and what those antlers must have weighed, was mind simply blowing.
Right at the top of my hunting experiences over the years.....unfortunately did not have the camera with me that morning.....but the images are permanently inscribed on my brain. These bulls were very similar in size to the photos of the 451 sheds....and except for the difference in points....both bulls were nearly identical.
As you said.....something to behold!
-
Anybody find their sheds this year? Or did they get poached/die this winter?
-
If I read the first post correctly, the sheds were found this year.
-
Cool.
-
I know that if todd can spend that kind of money on a tag, he can definantlly pay me more for my cedar logs. he owns richert shake and shingle in toledo.
You ever walked in his office at the mill?
Pretty impressive!
Also saw a picthere seems to be quite a few Todd pics around) of his New Mexico bull from last year.Another amazing animal.
I'm sooooo jealous.
-
Whatever happened to this bull?? Anyone hear anything else on it possibly being poached?? Im sure he hasn't been forgotten about.
MS
-
When I was down at the Portland sportsmans show this spring, there was a booth down there that was showing video footage of this bull. He also stated that it was one of his buddies that found those sheds last year and said he was certain that he will find them again this year. Since the show was in February and the bull hadn't shed yet I dint know wether they were found again this year. That was pretty much there focus point of there booth, a 52 inch flatscreen replaying this video of a 400+ inch monster washington bull. Now that is a lot of publicity, since there are a ton of money slingers that attend that show. I dint know if eastmans knew about the bull before but the had a booth next door to this one.

Everyone knows about this bull by now, he is even famous on MM site. THat is why the gov. tag went for $65,000 this year I am sure. Wherever he is at will be a zoo I am sure this weekend as the gov tag gets the green light on sept 1st. . I would love to see a regular joe washington bowhunter get him if anyone does. nwhunter

I think i have a general idea where they are...

He probably regressed to like 440 this year and isnt even worth watching any more. That is why there are no photos. 440 bulls are a dime a dozen. :chuckle:

might help if you have an Oregon permit for elk right now ;)

Or the watershed tag...don't think the governor's tag holder can go in there...too bad.

I thought Governor tag could go any where?

:yike: WOULD SOMEONE TELL ME IF THIS BULL IS IN THE 169 UNIT? I AM A NICE GUY AND AN AVID HUNTER AND WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SOMEONE LEAD ME TO THIS MONSTER!!
I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO DRAW A RIFLE TAG FOR THE WENAHA EAST UNIT. STARTS OCT
20TH. NEVER BEEN INTO THE WENAHA BUT I LOOKED AT IT LAST SUNDAY FROM THE OREGON BUTTES PEAK. THIS IS NOT THE WAY I WANT TO ACCESS THIS AREA, SO NEXT WEEKEND I AM GOING IN FROM THE TROY AREA TO SCOUT. ANY INFO WOULD BE HELPFUL.
I FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY THAT THE SKYLINE RD ENDS AT TEEPEE, WHICH IS MY WESTERN BORDER OF MY UNIT. AT THIS POINT I THINK I NEED TO HIRE A PACKER. IF ANYONE HAS ANY HELPFUL INFORMATION, IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED. I WOULD EVEN TAKE A 351. MY PERSONAL BEST IS A RAG HORN 5X5 OUT OF MONTANA, AND A SPIKE LAST YEAR FROM THE SULLIVAN LAKE AREA IN NORTH EAST WASH. AND OH YES, I AM FROM SPOKANE AND HAVE BEEN A WASHINGTON RESIDENT ALL MY LIFE.....42 YEARS.
-
I don't believe it is in 169. But if I was you I would hire a packer to get you back in thier. Also there isn't the grouse flatss rd your eastern boundary? try saddle butte trail head or come in from Oregon try 1st and 2nd creek areas. good luck.

You definately need to hire a packer!

Don't worry about this bull or any certain bull. I know a man near Walla Walla who has found somewhere around 10 matching sets of sheds that may go over 400. He said they called in a 380 bull for some kid last year, but the kid couldn't close the deal and went home empty handed. Sounded like the kid didn't quite know what he was doing out there. Just kill one of those and you'll be in good shape!

You could try these guys. Disclaimer: I have no idea if they're a quality outfitter or not--just passing on something I stumbled across while surfing. Best luck.

I asked a lot of question about the bull and no one can give me a answer either way
