Title: Weapon of choice?
Post by: Abolt338 on April 27, 2008, 07:44:11 PM: What's your go-to weapon for chasing black bears?

As my name hints, I usually carry an Abolt .338, but I sometimes opt for a Super Redhawk in .44 when I'm hunting tight/thick areas. I would love to get into archery some day.

Try Canada.
I used to have video for a swivel tree stand that had two bear kills over bait with spears. One of the "hunters" was Patrick Swayze's nemesis in the movie Road House.

Post by: shag on June 21, 2008, 07:29:27 AM: I have a 300wsm but would use any .30 cal or bigger. Not cause bear are hard to kill just leaves a bigger hole. Their hair can soak up alot of blood.

The new 338 federal would be a great one!! Similiar to the 30-06 balistically and in recoil, but a bigger diameter!!!!
