Took a drive on sunday to get my dad out of the house and went to the feed station. Not as many elk I thought (or have been there in the past) would have been there but there was also not much snow. I heard the head count was 650 or so.
We stopped by the sheep feed area and had just about as many elk in it as sheep, but not single big ram :'(
Talked with a guy there that was a "lurker" on this site, i believe his name was Greg (sorry if i got your name wrong, I am terrible with names) and shown me some pic of some dandy BT that he and his family has taken. I hope he joins up and shares them, I would love to see them on a bigger screen then a cell phone
Took some pic thought I would share with you all.

Makes you kinda wonder how she lost her lower leg :dunno:
-
Is this the same Elk??
-
Never mind :chuckle: I see now that the one I took has a tag in her ear :chuckle:
-
there was a bunch of sheep if you went up 410 hyway a little. we saw 40 0r 50 on saturday. a couple of nice 3/4 and full curl rams.
-
this group was feeding just above him.
-
Cool pics! Thanks for sharing.
-
Thanks Gasman. Were there any sheep in the sheep feeding area?
-
We went over a New Year's. Saw the 3 1/2 legged cow. There was also a decent bull that looked like half of his front hoof was bent up towards his leg, he was hobbling around.
At the sheep feeding station there was a decent bull and a cow elk, the were the only elk there. There were quite a few sheep and rams. I got a pic similar to Boneaddicts of 3 sets of sheep nuts. Tonite if I remember I pull the pics off the camera and post them up.

That bull has made it to the feeding station for the last 3 years if it is the same one. I saw him this year there to.

nice photos.. thanks for sharing! I stopped in today to stretch my legs on my way to Chelan.. there were still a decent number of animals down but they're definitely filtering out! I keep wondering if that old whitened bull will make it back up the hill... anyone know which one I'm talking about? He hobbles or lays around... big old bases but regressing.. I think he's a 4 by 3 now. Any photos of him? I should have taken some this evening... might be his last season.

Is this the same Elk??

Is this the bull? This one had the bad hoof. It was his left side. the hoof was bent up he is a hobbler. I didn't get a pic of his foot
-
Gosh, I only saw him today.. you'd think I'd be able to identify him better! :chuckle: I think that's the one I was thinking of... he looks a little more robust in your photo than he did the last two times I've stopped in on him. Today all the other animals spooked at a dog barking in a rig but he didn't even bother to get up or even open his eyes... then again if it is the same one maybe he's just tired of standing around on that hoof!

OK, I need some help, I'm confuse-ed :dunno:. How many elk feeding stations are there on the East side and what would be the closest one to Leavenworth :dunno: I've tried running through the WDFW site and can't make heads or tails from it. Oak Creek is the only real info I see, and that's down by Yak/ Nachese, , correct?

Closets one to you would be Joe watt canyon near thorp. Next one would be oak creek in yakima. If you need directions let me know.

I have never been to Joe Watt but know Oak creek is the most popular for visitors and easily accessed off hwy 12.
