Great pics. I sure hope looking and reading can get me through until April!

LOL...I always have a hard time.  IT is a great time of year to get in shape!  I usually lose 15-25 lbs hunting turkeys!  No comment Wacenturian!  LOL

Here is a pic of turkeys in the NE.   The reason they are in the truck (off the ground) is for two reasons, first because they are hungry and second, they are getting off the ground where the rattlers' wont get them.

Yelp don't forget pick up turds and throw them off the road.. :hello: Step on all the tracks you find.. ;)

Other westside tactic tips not necessarily for turkey season.

Cut down all the elk rubs, don't smoosh the bear sh*t, hide all the chantrells and if you squeal you must do it really hard due to the brush too!   :chuckle:

Sorry I start getting a little jiggy.. the closer it gets to spring! :)

My best call for those easterns is the squealer call. I put two of them in my mouth and squeal has loud as i can. I also have a gobbler shaker going at the same time. It sounds like one big party those gobblers cant stand it.

Nice technique.  I am going to pitch Eddie Salter at HS Strut to come up with a new design. It will look something like the Snort-wheeze caller..I am thinking the "Shaking Squealer"???.. Remember the "CROWL"  (I bought one)!  You never know!  :chuckle:  I bet you slamming a car door may work too???

Madmax, is the lack of birds in the Methow valley the reason for the lab :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: Great looking bird and dog.

one from the 2010 rodeo!

I should post our turkey leg star pic from last season! :chuckle: I'm getting antsy. Picked up some new mouth reeds the other day since Stickslinger always steals mine :chuckle: That smokin aces pic is awesome. I'll remember to bring more Highlife this year. You'll have to root around to find another cig butt since none of us smoke though.

NO, don't throw it! its more of a hammering motion.
It is a little known fact that if you get turkeys in thick enough brush they cant take flight. I for one can outrun a turkey, so in thick brush it is GAME OVER! :chuckle:

My hunting partner, the first year he wen turkey hunting with us shot one and had to chase it down. I think he was planning on the hammering motion but even though flight was not possible, it was out running him til he put another round in it. He came in that night with a great story and a bird missing a lot of feathers :chuckle:.

What you really have to do is go for the full out open field tackle and really wrap them up so you don't come up with a handful of feathers ;) just make sure you tuck the wings or they will beat the everloving crap out of you  ;)

Hey..  I resemble this comment..  Yes the hammer motion was the thought but after running for a hundred yards and not gaining on him and getting closer to the edge of the property, I let him have another.  Not positive but I think a Turkey's top running speed is around 20-22 mph so if someone can run an un-wounded bird down they are a fast SOB.  :chuckle:

A little bit from all over our area here I guess..
We hunt them some up by my parents but they dont get the flock numbers up that high that they do in the low lands.
