I AM JUST CURIOUS ABOUT WHAT METHOD PEOPLE USE, AND I AM BORED AS HELL, CANT WAIT FOR DEER SEASON AND ITS A LONG WAY OFF :'( :'(
-
It might help if you specified what kind of game?
-
His opening question says this only pertains to deer hunting.
-
For Deer I'll jump around from one FFTH spot to another hike in and glass, ML season gives me the opportunity to do this where I hunt, it wouldn't work for Modern in the same areas, way to crowded. For elk, walk out the back door of the cabin and go.
-
I jump from spots to spot and I do it during modern but it isnt really a issue because the area I hunt in isnt crowded. I like certain spots in the am and others in the pm. The areas i jump around are probably all within a 5 mile radius.

Wake up early, and hike in. Spend all day still hunting/hiking/glassing, then hike out at dark. On day four, usually it's time for an easier day, but on day 5 it's back to the regularly scheduled program.
This year will be a little different. I'm staying in and cutting out a whole bunch of time and energy spent hiking in and out each day.

thats what i have been doing i am packed in a few miles and stay the last week and all of extended buck, i will tell you this it has made huntn alot more fun and enjoyable. i dont know why but i see a ton of game being packed way in there, maybe because i am more relaxed and aint wore the hell out from hiking my ass off before it gets light.

Usually from a elevated ground blind.
-
Spot and Stalk High country mule deer.
-
Mornings and evenings I travel on. . . . wait for it, wait for it. . . ROADS! To get from vantage point to vantage point and class the crap out of an area. If there are hidden pockets I'll move around to get to where I can see into them. Come mid day I'll hit the brush and depending on the weather, still hunt or push it. The hunting style is the same, whether I'm riding my mountain bike into one of my many spots, or driving the pickup into others.
All that said, I am looking into doing a high hunt this fall so long as I can get the time away from my job and don't draw my BT rut tag.

Definatly roadhunt 8)
-
Road hunt, ATV hunt from my house...it's the only way. LMAO.
-
A hybrid of two choices. Hunt from sun up to sun down ANd jump from spot to spot..
-
If theres good sighn and im seeing animals i will stay in one spot all day. But if the action is slow i will find somewhere thats not.
-
i prefer to walk a ridge line, glass a canyon, walk to the next canyon, glass there... and so on...
-
Road huntings my preffered style :chuckle:
Im a big still hunter its always worked good for me over here on the west side. I havnt built up the confidence or patience in my glassing to sit on a spot all day I dont know what the deal is but I can spot deer with my bare eyes at 300 yards but I cant see *censored* with my binoculars for some reason :dunno: So I typically trudge on all day and just keep moving, I see a good amount of animals doing this but it wears me out quick.

we are hunters not computer experts, i just learned how to use this damn thing :puke:

I picked option 2, the pick a spot and stay there sun up to sun down. Sometimes ill switch between two or three spots, but that's far from moving around all day.
Please use question marks (?) to denote questions. Also, if you haven't heard, using all caps is akin to SHOUTING. ;)

You're going to have your hands full if you plan to start pointing out punctuation issues!
I picked move from spot to spot, but it really depends on where I am hunting. At times, I hunt all day in the same area.

You still didn't use any punctuation!

Whatever method I feel will produce my best odds.

Mostly road hunt during the day with a few small 1-2 mile hikes mixed in. Sitting at "the spot" like a statue at first light and after the road hunting sitting again into dark.

it would be cool if we could add our success rates to the poll as well. I voted jump from spot to spot.

I also don't have an answer for you because I don't have a style of hunt yet. Last season was my first year.
-
Road hunt...Ain't that why they made them??

Do what I was trained to do, track ;).
-
I picked hunt one spot from dawn till dark. What I really do, is still hunt a 2 sqare mile area from dawn till dark. I hunt the same area every day of the season ( except when I'm working).
-
I usually jump spot to spot. I try every year to sit in one spot all day but i get bored easily. Figure why sit here all day if i walk over there maybe somethings bedded. Or i might find a few missed sheds while moving.
-
Why is there no "Spot & Stalk" option? Or a "Still Hunt" option? The choices appear to be mostly road hunter options unless you hike to a tree stand.
-
When bow hunting I get in my treestand at least an hour before daylight and stay until about 9:30-10:00, then still hunt until around 1:30-2:00 and it is back into the treestand until it is too dark to see my feet. My honey hole is about an hour to 1 1/2 hour hike in depnding on snow and half the night to drag something out due to the thick brush.
-
We usually find us a spot to be sitting when daylight hits and stay there for a few hours. Then I will slowly hike around a bit to see if I can scare something up. There are days when we will move from one spot to the other in a vehicle and happen to run in to some deer. I'm not afraid to say I've shot a couple of deer doing that. But there is nothing like sitting in a nice spot where you can glass a hillside at daybreak. Nothing in the world like it.

well said, as i have also waited in a spot till daylight many a time, and shivered so hard that it made my back ache :chuckle:and thats with all the new gear and such, its only fitting that we suffer a bit to play the game, i would have it no other way

I prefer to hike in the dark for an hour or so to an area that looked nice to me prior to the season. I let the land dictate where I go when it gets light out. I like to sit and glass a nice area then go get a different view of the same area. If nothing hits my eye I move on. I'm what you call an A.D.D. hunter.
-
A.D.D. = after Dumb Deer? :chuckle:

i do the same thing, except i dont hike anymore i now have a spot way the hell in gone in there where i have a camp set up, that way i can sleep a little longer and can still get up have a hot cup of coffee or a diet coke, and i will wait till day light and then just see where the day takes me.

LOL, no, attention deficit disorder. The deer I try to hunt are usually to smart for me.

that would fall under the " hunt one spot daylight to dark" option
