try red-ball "Bama Socks" they are blue over-socks but you can wear them ALL day and they wick away sweat and keep feet dry..... not advertising or anything but they work. i found out about them when i was comercial fishing, and wearing xtra tuffs up to 40 hours a time. the blue bama socks are soaked at the end of the day, but your socks are as dry as they were when you put them on. i dont know how it works but it just does... they are under 10$ a pair.
find em at any comercial fishing supply like LFS or even online
helps if you score the elastic so they dont dig into your feet too badly

I'll have to try them. I lived in my xtra tuffs and hip waders in Alaska and at a couple other jobs and my feet were always wet from sweat. It was almost a why bother to wear boots? I will get some and see how they do around the farm. Thanks!

wow! thanks for letting us all know! those would be pretty sweet to have

I should try that as well. One thing I have noticed too if your feet sweat alot is to get the spray type antiperspirant and spray it on your feet before you put your socks on. It will help keep them from sweating too much. :twocents:

hey jeepster do you have a link to a website they are on? where did you get yours?

I want to make sure I get this right. You put on a pair of wicking socks over your bare feet. Then you pull over the wicking socks a pair of Bama socks. The Bama socks apparently hold the water? Just curious.
Another question. What if I have room for only one pair of socks in my boots (regular hunting boots)? Would the Bama socks perform better than a good wicking sock? Thoughts?

I found the following websites when googling bama socks:

thanks Curly!

Interesting. I like to wear my muck boots quite a bit but can only wear them in the winter because sweating is always an issue.
-
Do they make underwear as well? :chuckle:

I was painting hatcheries up in Juneau AK a few years back and its true. We lived in Xtra Tuffs and those little blue slip ons for days at a time.. I lost them somewhere, thanks for the thread. Reminds me i have to pick up another pair :)

OK You will think I am full of chit, but this is what I do. IT WORKS!
I researched this problem called hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), pits, feet, hands etc. Some have it worse than others.
A common ingredient in antipersperant is alluminum right. So I talked a doc into giving me a prescription for 20% aluminum chloride, I fill it at a local pharmacy. There is a name brand Drysol, but I don't know the strength.
Dab a cotton ball in it rub it over the bottom of my feet/toes and a little up the sides. Well I even went one step further and wrap my feet in saran wrap then some cotton socks. I do this at bedtime and sleep with this on. Shower in the morning and rinse the stuff off. I will do this for 2-3 nights in a row. My feet won't sweat for several weeks. I haven't tried it on my hands or pits.
Next time you guys are at the Dr. office, ask if you can get a prescription. Then you can wear whatever socks you want.

I got to question if there are any side effects. It is a natural process of your boy to sweat to get rid of heat maybe not as much sweat as you produce but is there any side effects to doing this?

It made me crazy enough to spend all this time on HuntWa :chuckle:
Seriously. I have wondered about side effects, but haven't noticed any problems other than general wt gain and a little bigger gut.
NOTHING we do is without some side effect. I just have not encountered any YET!

I can't use antiperspirant if it has aluminum in it. I guess I'm sensitive or allergic to aluminum......it makes my skin get all irritated and red.
-
Aluminum has also been linked to Alzheimer's.

Im doomed... :yike:

it doesnt matter what shoes i wear my feet sweat so bad that everyday even just sitting at my desk when i come home my socks are soaked. It sucks. I think there is a surgery option but havent looked into it yet. I'm ready to though.

Whitey your not suppose to snort the aluminum!!
I would think you could go to your physician and he could hook you up with a pill to cut down on the sweating dirty24d

Thats the first thing I'm doing at my next dr.'s appt., i've put it off and put it off for years , hell 12 years. It's time to make a change.

aluminum....??****glances at beer can***** huh who knew? :dunno:
yeah i got my bamas at swedes net sales in anacortes, if you take a right at the first light commin down the bridge (right by the chevy dealer) and and then take a left, go about 1/2 mile down the road you will see it, if the shop is closed, just knock on the door (but not after 5 old Swede gets cranky) but yeah they are great.
only problem i had with em is i usually have to wear good insoles, and there isnt always room for thick socks, bamas, and insoles but its a fair trade off.

Years back I read an article in an Army magazine about research at Natick, the Army's cold weather lab. They found using Antiperspirant on sweaty feet worked and after extended use the feet tested sweated less...
