Good day all, this weekend I am planning on replacing my 5 Pin Truglo Superslam sight with something a little more versatile, for hunting AND target shooting. When hunting, I never shoot past 50yds but now that I’m shooting target a lot more I would like to have pins for further distances. Basically I am looking at either a 7 fixed pin OR something with fixed pins for hunting AND a floating bottom pin for target. So far I like the Spot Hogg SDP, but would want the rail mount and that gets kinda spendy, I also like the G5 Optik with the 3 fixed and 1 adjustable floating pin, also the Limb Saver Elite; 5 fixed and 1 adjustable floating pin. Anyway I would like to get any input along with pros and cons; on the fixed pin sights vs. fixed with adjustable floating pin.

axcel armortech hd. the pins are bright and fully protected its also fully adjustable and tool less, i just got mine and its the best sight ive ever seen, the local shop told me its the last sight i will ever need to buy and now i see why
:yike: Wow they are proud of those. Nearly $200 for a bow sight. :dunno: I remember when I bought a brand new bow, the Martin Lynx, for $116. It killed 20+ deer and 2 bear.
Personally I like one or two pins. With today's bows you really don't need more than one maybe two pins and your dang near dead on out to 40 yards. Plus you don't get razzled and use the wrong pin. I like to keep it simple..... :twocents:

if you look at that black gold sight you can see where the fibers are exposed in the back, imo its junk, axcel armortech is the only sight i've ever seen where the fibers are 100% protected, and lets be honest theirs a lot of brush around here and broken fibers= your hunt is over. yeah its over 200 bucks, but we all know you get what you pay for! :twocents:
Crap, I didnt know i couldnt shoot without fibers in a site ;)
Ive hunted with black golds in some tough country for several years and never had an issue.
The Axcel sights are sweet (I have their target sight on one of my bows) but they dont offer a hunting sight that will do what i want.

I like my blackgold sight alot, but 2 of the 5 fiber optics did break this year during the late season. It was pretty cold and I rubbed it in some branches on my way down a hill and when I got back I noticed they were broken. Otherwise like I mentioned I like it.

Good sites are now from $150 to $200+, so be prepared to spend that much. I don't want to generalize, so I'm sure that there are a few sites that are less expensive than that and are good, but I'm talking about the majority of them.

So after much review and checking out every site listed here and a about a hundred others (or more), I got a 7 pin Hog Hunter, and I absolutely love it. It was a tough decision between the Armortech and the Hog Hunter, these are both AWESOME sights, but in the end the Hog Hunter won out. Basically I picked the Hog Hunter because it had excellent adjustability, decreasing pin diameter (I like this a LOT) but most of all, the Hog Hunter has nice big sight guard so as I get older and my pins spread out I wont be buying a new sight again. That was the ONLY thing I didn't like about the Armortech, was the very small pin guard, on a 7 pin sight I would like it to be bigger, but as I said it was a VERY tough decision. The Hog Hunter I expect will be the last sight I will ever buy. Anyway thanks to all for the truly excellent information. :hello:
