A buddy of mine and a fine bowyer asked if I would like him to build "my" bow for those guys that would like one....since I've basically quit building professionally. I knew Kirk was a great bowyer and have shot several of his models and have loved them. I said, "If you can build one that looks and shoots just like mine, heck yeah man"... I dont have any big following, but there are a few guys that "planned" on buying one of my bows and waited just a little too long to find my doors closed when they decided to order!
Anyhow, Kirk built a copy of my bow and sent it to me (he owns one of my Hawks, so he used it as a model)... If I got a little amnesia and didn't remember every bow I've ever built, I would NOT know I didn't build this bow. It looks and shoots just like my bows. It "might" send an arrow a tad faster than mine, but thats a close call. I didn't run it through a chronograph...
Anyhow, here are some pics. Big Foot bow on left, mine on right. The target is a 20 yard series of shots and matches the best shooting I've ever done. And that is with a bow I had only shot 40 -50 arrows out of!! :o
If you are looking to get a good longbow or recurve, I couldn't recommend a better guy or bowyer... he's getting better every day too....

Kinda cool, he put a silk veneer under the clear glass....sort of endless opportunities there! He did say it was a Major pain the butt though!! :chuckle:

Check out his work at: www.bigfootbows.com (http://www.bigfootbows.com) And I have NO financial connection with Kirk, he's just a good guy I've met and could help out a feller archer with putting a good bow in their hands!!

Well if you endorse his work, that is good enough for me. :hello:
-
Looks sweet! Do you get to keep the bow he built? :)
-
well I know for a fact they shoot nice  gonna put an arrow in a bear with one of your bows this year if all goes right
-
Wow! Those are nice! And really bang for buck there really a decent deal when ya think about what ya get into a compound. I could have bought almost 3 of those.
I'm actually scared to try one cause if I like it Ill have a bunch of cams and cables lying around. Lol
-
I dont get to keep it! It is for sale as a matter of fact and it is a shooting sob.....

Let me echo Ernies kind words about Kirk's bows, I ordered a Sasquatch Longbow and recurve (both takedowns) for Bigfoot bows. Somewhere on here you will find my post about my new bow... it has a link to Kirk testing the bow before he shipped it... both of those bows are amazing. Not only are they fast, smooth draiwing and no hand shock... they are works of art. Just can't wait for the rehab on my shoulder to allow me to shoot them more... still limited to shooting 40# or less... hope to be able to start shooting 50#'s comfortably by summer.

I have known Kirk for about 4 years now and he builds a helluva bow. I have had the pleasure of being able to shoot many of his bows from when he started till now. They have only gotten better. They are fast and quiet. I didn't get a chance to shoot the bow Ernie was talking about but I am sure it performs up there with the rest of his.
I have been fortunate to have owned one of Ernies bows and got to shoot a couple others. Ernie builds a great bow himself. Only way I can tell the difference is the grip is slightly different. Cool review Ernie.

I will say that the bows you got from Kirk are awesome. I got a chance to shoot them before he shipped them out to you. They shoots as good as they look ;) Can't remember I may have built the strings that are on them. I only think that because I was out delivering strings to him so he could ship some bows out.
If you make it over to Moses Lake for the Rock shoot bring them along and show them off. I am going to lean on Kirk to come up to the shoot. I will be there stop by and say hi at the Bull Mtn Archery tent.

When one makes a style of bow, is there some form of patent that is in place, and in order for someone else to make that bow they need permission, just curious? or is it more a matter of common courtesy?
Do you sell your limb presses/jigs to another builder?
By the way----Nice looking bows.
-
Not many bowyers have patents...there are a few. This was a courtesy deal by Kirk and he had been developing a similar bow for a couple years. He and I just thought it would help out some disgruntled Sapphire fans.... ;)
You are still on my list Quad... I just have to get caught up before I can build yours!!!
