What part of Calif is the ranch in? What is the breakdown on the hunting lic and tag? Reason I ask is as a non-resident disabled vet I can get the hunting lic at the resident price, so I would only need a non-resident pig tag. How is Oct timeframe for hunting them? I usually head down and run bears for a few days in Oct, might have to add a few more days for a pig! Thanks
-
The ranch in a 1.5hrs north of sacramento just off of I5. The non resident pig tag is $68.61 and the hunting license is 148.78. Thats great you get a reduced rate license. Pig hunting can be done any time with us. We could get you on some hogs even in october. :IBCOOL:
I will post up some pics here in a little bit of some of the boars and rams. Been super busy but wanted to get this up.
-
Archery Gear?

Any weapon! bow/rifle/pistol they are all good with us :IBCOOL:
-
Here are some pictures for you guys :IBCOOL: Sorry his software does not match up with mine very well. So they are a bit grainy, but you will get a idea of the hogs and quality we offer.
-
Are the prices for one hog?
-
Yes price is per one hog. You can add on additonal hogs as well.
-
How big is the property?
-
1000's of acres free range and the preserve hunt is on 750 acres.
-
Can we use dogs and a knife instead of a firearm? lol.. j/k but also seriously curious..
And how does wild hog taste compared with farm raised?
-
My non-resident california hunting license is $6.44. :IBCOOL: $75.05 for a pig tag and hunting lic.....CA here I come!

My non-resident california hunting license is $6.44. :IBCOOL:
Dude thats pretty sweet!!
-
Wild boar can be very tasty! Depends a lot on the way the animal is taken care of in the field. The smaller the hog the better the eating as well  The big boars are best for sausage in my mind. But alright any way you want to eat them.
We are not running any dog hunts right now. But dirty24d we can still give it a go :chuckle: Maybe jump out of a tree, or take them on like in the movie predator :chuckle:

Sounds interesting. Are the pics of the pigs from the regular Hog hunt or the Monster Hog hunt?
Just so I understand, one hog (what size?) and a ram for $1175?
Is there a guide or are the hunters on their own? Is the ranch ok with kids, that have passed hunters ed, to hunt? Any age issues?
Thanks
-
No age issue as long as they can get the Cali license. Or they can hunt the preserve area. The ranch is very kid friendly!
There will be a guide.
Most of those pictures are of normal sized hogs, that are included in the cost of that hunt. There is only 2 of those pics that are preserve hunts. You are looking 200-250lbs on avg for the hog that is included.
So that size hog"225p"avg + a ram for the $1175.00
I will post up some pics of just the monster boars, here in a few. They are monster most times 350+ pounds with the biggest cutters around.
-
Here are some of the monster boars :IBCOOL:
-
Those are some monsters! I love seeing huge pigs.
What about lodging? Is there a place to stay on site or is there a hotel close?
-
1.5 hrs north of Sac. Sounds like my old stomping grounds. Lots of pigs west side of I-5. Lake, Colusa and Yolo counties. Lots of pigs.

Want some bacon? Here's your chance! Groups of 5-6 hunters get 50.00 off on the hog hunts :IBCOOL: And will be the only ones on the whole ranch :IBCOOL:

Will you have any room at the end of May? I will probably be down in Burney, CA sometime from the middle of May to the end of May picking up a new puppy.
-
I don't think so. He is pretty booked full untill july. I can maybe get you in with another group. If they are not big enough to take up the whole ranch. I am going when he has a full camp and helping out. Then my play time will start :IBCOOL: When it gets a little closer and you know a date for sure, let me know machias and I will see if I can work my magic for ya :IBCOOL:

No goats hunt advertised here :dunno: Don't know what you are asking.
-
Probably means sheep.
Ive been trying to buy a Mouflan or Corsican cape and set of horns for some display mount, might as well go kill one myself ...... hmmmm.
-
Problem is Chuckles they probably won't respond to a bugle, LMAO. :P
-
Wana Bet :chuckle:
-
We could get you set up bud. Not bad for 750.00  The corsican is easy the mouflan is harder because a lot of states have axed alot of wild/exotics like oregon did a few years ago. There is still some hyrids around and I can get you on one in oregon  Or you can go to cali

Other sheep that are bred with the mouflan= hybrid. There are lot of diffrent sheep that can be bred to eachother. The oregon dalls and texas dalls are nice sheep. You want a hair sheep like the painted desert, texas dall, corsican, etc
Hey carp what are people doing for processing of the meat, are there places that do it there?
A lot of the hunts are 2-3 days hunts most people just pack them into ice chests. dry ice is great for this  Take a big icechest and you will be set. We are working on getting a hanging cooler in down there but its not up yet.
-
How much do them little sheep weight , 100 pounds live maybee? So about 25 pounds of meat? Am I close ?
-
Depends on the breed. The mature rams of most breeds will be around 125-150. Some of the smaller breeds like the soay or jacobs are smaller 80-100lbs.
-
Come on Charlie just go shoot a few already. :chuckle: You know you want to.
-
Here is a link to a members hunt on here

-
My uncle and grandparents have places in palm springs. I have played the la quinta course!!! Small world sometimes.
-
I think it was the Palmer course that had the rams came down out of the mountains. My friend took me down to see his grandparents who live on TPC Stadium. It is a small world!
-

200.00+ on the hogs is not to bad. He is still under what most of the outfitters are running right now.
-
this sounds like a fun time, i'll have to show my buddies and see if we can make something happen in the future. i've been to texas and seen some corsican ram hunts go for around $1200...and that's basically one day and just for the animal... so if you toss in the lodging factor the prices aren't too bad. I have also seen cheaper but the rams were only around 4 years old and were not to their potential they should be. any certain reason for the price increase? just curious and i respect if you choose not to say.
-
Just really the demand and what the current prices are for these hunts. He has been cheap for a long time and now he is getting up to where he should be with current prices from other outfitters.
You can see many different types of rams on the hunt. Black,dall,corcian,painted,4 horn, sand and a few others at times.
Even at 240.00 more his hunt is still one of the best you can find out there. I would not be selling them and sending my clients down there if it wasn't a great hunt. I know what he is making each year and its not been what he should be for the amount of time he spends hunting and guiding. This will help him in the long run and he will still stay busy. He has many return customers every year just like myself, I hunt every year down there and will be heading back down in april again.
-
understandable and good to hear he's staying busy. sounds like he's got a good operation going on down there, the variety of rams available is really appealing. also northern california is much closer than texas haha. i'm glad i found this, i'll see if i can get any interests in going with my buddies.
and those hunts may be cheaper too, until you experience both it's hard to tell if one is better than the other. i would hope for paying more you're guaranteed a better animal to harvest. i know in texas some pig/hog hunts were only $125...but you only got about a 100-125lb animal. where i'd rather pay more for something larger and more worth while. especially if you're traveling for it. how you're treated while being on someone's property and stay for the hunt is also a huge factor. friendliness and hospitality go a long way.
-
That great send me there info I am always looking for hunts. I know about 3 that are cheaper but most people don't like the quality of pink pigs and the size of the hunting area.
I would love to know if they are hunting russians and the size of there hunting areas. So feel free to send me the info so I can see for myself and not have to take anyones word.
I know that all the ones that do the trade shows with me are 750-1200.
-

That is indeed the case. Cheaper is not always better for sure. It's about quality I can send anyone who wants to go shoot a pink pig a ranch down there that sells them for 450.00. I know one person on here that went down there and couldn't even shoot one because they were pets. For the quality of operations and other outfitters that I myself have hunted with and not just seen there booth at a trade show ;) I know my outfitter is right with or cheaper then other outfitters offering the kind of hunt that he has.
-
You mean the ISE show? Sure have. I hope you showed your military card you should have got in for free
My buddy lives in Sacramento  His home show and he was there was well. I do trade shows as part of my living and know the current markets, I am sure way better then most
A ranch that is already limiting you on what kind of pigs you can shoot at certain prices already throws up a flag for me. Spend your money and let me know what kind of hunt it was. Doesn't sound like a hunt I would send my clients on.
SO anyways back to my ad
-
Carpsniperg2 your inbox is full-tried to PM you.
In order to hunt a ram does one only need to purchase a nonresident hunting license? Not seeing any tags that really fit the bill on the CA DFG's website. Not too interested in a hog however I'm quite sure my interest would be peaked upon seeing them!
-
No need for the tags for the ram's we supply them. Some of are hog hunts you need tags and others we provide tags for you.
-
so is a hunting license even required for the rams then? also since they're on private land does that change things? i know in texas if it's a private enclosed ranch they can basically have their own rules...i know that's a different state but i'm just curious.
-
No the rams do not have licenses. They have a landowner tag and since it is private they set there own guidelines. They still have to follow some cali rules like no hunting at night and etc.
-
Time to bring this up again. Have some opening still threw out the year. I also have a booking for myself later in the year. I can take 3-4 members with me or set you up on you own trip. Current hog hunts are 950.00 and ram hunts are 950.00 as well. I can do a combo for both at 1500.00 right now as well!!!!
