I shoot a trad bow, and while checking the 2011 vegas scores, I saw that there was a "recurve" class (winning score: 296), and a "barebow" class (winning score: 289), not noticing any "Traditional" class. I'm assuming that the "Recurve" class is Olympic recurves... idk. Just trying to find out what scores the worlds top tradmen are shooting, and don't know what the name of the class is...

Vegas does not have a "Traditional class", the recurve class is OLY bows and the Barebow is predominately compounds, but Alan Eagleton who finished 3rd, shoots an NFAA traditional legal recurve in that class at Vegas. He is currently one of the best "trad" shooters in the Adult Male class of the NFAA, he has won Redding several times, the NFAA Outdoor NAtionals 2 times in a row etc... including just setting the FITA indoor record last month. SHooting 270's+ on the Vegas face with Trad gear is pretty impressive, especially at a large venue like Vegas. I know he is averaging in the 280's on the Blue Face right now also. The WSAA just held their State Blue Face indoor championships, I won the Senior Male Trad class shooting a 244 (yuck) and a 260. The adult class I have not seen the finals yet since it is shot in 4 different locals throughout the State, but there was a 269 in the lead after day 1. SO that should give you some ideas of what people are shooting. ALso, go her eto see WSAA records and results....

Do you know what gear Eagleton is shooting Ren? Man...that is some good shooting for sure, especially in competition... just for the record Tradman... that 260 that NWWA shot is a tough score to beat also. I've shot hundreds of 300 rounds and with trad gear I think my highest score is 267...with a sighted recurve I shot a 275... 240-250 is more the norm...

Alan Eagleton shoots a Spigarrelli 25" riser with MK-1440 korean long limbs. I shot with him at the NFAA Outdoor Nationals last year on the range, he is in the adult class so I didn't get to shoot in the event with him. For Vegas I am not sure but he told me he was shooting 2712's with 300 gr tips earlier this year. If you look at some of the NFAA records and results you can see he seems to be way ahead of his competition. My average in our league and practice has been running high 250's and low 260's in the "trad" class, with a full OLY setup I am shooting right at 280. I will be heading to Louisville for the NFAA indoor nationals March 26/27, giving me a chanse to shoot against the same guys who I did in the NFAA Outdoor nationals last summer. I figure the more big tourney experience I can get will make me a better archer. Besides I love the pressure. LOL Currently I am shooting a Bernardini 25" Luxor riser with 32# PSE X-Pression long limbs for indoor and shooting full length Fatboy 500 spine shafts with 150 Gr tips.

You are shooting that bare??
With that bare, are your scores much better than with your longbow?
When I'm working at it, I can stay in the upper 240's to mid 250s with my LB... Ive never shot a real "oly" riser like the spig, but would like to!

I am shooting that for everything right now as its the only thing I can shoot any amount with my shoulder. My scores with the longbow were in the 240's pretty consistently and a few into the 250's last year. I think with more time and practice I can get consistently into the high 260's with the ILF bow. One reason is I can draw and hold it since it is such a light weight. I do know that my form is much better since shooting the light weight. I do pull the Hawk out and am able to shoot about 5 ends without to much problem, but after that I start to have form collapses still. With the hawk I am averaging 22 for each end so if I was able to shoot it comfortably for a complete round I would probably be 240-250 with it. I can tell you that I am shooting 5 days a week right now and have improved my scores dramatically since December. My best with the OLY rig, stabs sight etc... is 285, so my scores don't really jump too much with that. The amazing thing is the performance I get out of a 32# ILF rig, I have not chrono'd it but not much of a drop off in speed would be my guess. I have made a lot of changes over the past few months, added a 2nd anchor point, so now I have my index finger at the corner of my mouth and the thumb index finger gap on my jaw, much more repeatable. I am concentrating on indoor right now and that is affecting my 3d scores...LOL Right after Louisville I will start getting ready to go to Redding, big jump from 20 yards indoors to out to 101 yards there.

Are you shooting lighter arrows with the Fita? Fita rigs shoot "about" the same speed as my LB's if not a touch slower "generally speaking"... With 9 gpp they are all in that 178-190 fps range while with ligher, 6 gpp arrows you are definitely moving into the 210+ range... nice and FLAT!!
I'll have to pick up a fita rig someday just for kicks...

For indoor I am shooting 406 grains total arrow weight. For outdoors I will be shooting just under 300 grain arrows. I am switching to ACE's (570 spine) for field/3D/Safari shoots.
