Title: making a video of your hunt by yourself.
Post by: MIKEXRAY on February 27, 2011, 06:57:23 AM: My bowhunts last season were awesome & I had a lot of experiences I wish I had on video. I went snowmobiling and one of the riders had a small helmet camera & I was wondering if anyone is using a system like that for videoing your hunt. It was a very small camera / battery pack, goes out plenty far and only cost a couple of hundred dollars. Also looked easy to operate. It would easily clip to the side of your ball cap. If you have a model or pictures of your setup I would appreciate it. The hands free, small enough to pack, lots of memory are all the features I am intersted in. Thanks for any info. Mike

I had a small bear see my elk decoy @ 30 yards, he hunched up & started hopping around and hissing like a cat. Quite the show. He backed off to 50 yards & with his front feet on a log he was pushing down on the log & huffing at the elk trying to get it to leave I guess. It was a 30 minute show that I would love to have on video.

It is pretty easy to operate. One button to get it going. The only thing is it doesn't have a viewer. So just point to the direction you want to shoot. Also it is a fix focal point. You can't zoom. The quality is pretty good for a POV (point of view) camera. If you use the waterproof housing, the sound will be blocked out. Costco has a package deal for the same price. Mainly, just more mounts. Post by: gotshot on February 27, 2011, 07:09:28 AM: My son has a GOPRO camera that he makes his snowboarding and wakeboarding videos with. You see them advertised on tv. The are about 300 bucks and come with a waterproof case, and gear to attatch to helmets or poles or whatever. They also produce HD videos. I don't know how much they can hold, but I am sure you could get some pretty big memory cards. That would be my choice right now.

Post by: smartazz171 on February 27, 2011, 06:05:14 PM: I have a stealth cam Epic camera. It worked real well while I shot my bow. Bass pro shops had it on sale online for under $100. It came with a waterproof case, a suspension piece, and a couple starps for different mounting. They have a new HD one also. Moultrie also has one, just don't know anything about it. Check Cabelas also. Just remember there are systems that allow you to attach cameras to your bow. But in Washington you can't have anything electronic attached to your bow.

My friends helmet cam was about the round size of a cigar & 4 inches long, plugged into a cigarette pack size box in his pack. It had an SD card in the box & stored a lot of video.
