Just curious if anyone has a Mathew DXT or has ever shot one. I'm thinking about purchasing one. I looked at it yesterday and it felt great but I didn't shoot it so any info would be nice.
-
I have shot it a couple different times... Pretty smoot and fast! Thing I didn't like was it's almost too short! The string angle is too great so your peep has to be huge in order to match your ring on the front sight! Made for 28" draw lenghts or less... and mine is only 27 and I still struggle with it a little bit. I have shot Mathews for the past 6 years and think they are great bows don't get me wrong, but, there is a certain point in which a bow is just to small. just my :twocents:
-
I was wondering about that too. Seems even at 28" draw that the string angle was steep. did not shoot it though, so it is an opinion based on no real frame of reference, just drawing it back.
It is a nice light package though.

What are your guy's favorite mathews bow? I liked the dxt when I saw it but I know some people like the Adrenalin.
-
The drenalin is a nice bow for sure! My favorite bow that Mathews made was the regular Switchback! Smoothest and quietest bow they made IMO...
-
My favorite Mathews was the MQ1. Not truly sure they have made any earth shattering improvements over that bow.
-
My favorite would be the one I don't have...........
So, that would be all of them. :tung:
Still a Hoyt shooter for now.
-
I went into Van Winckles today again and looked at the Mathews Dxt and Adrenalin. However the guy recomended the Martin Fire Cat to me. Which sounds great to because my bow is a Martin. So does anyone have any experience with the Fire cat.
-
I shot the DXT and the Drenalin side by side at V W's and stuck with the Drenalin. It had better balance for me. Basically the same bow, the DXT was so short it was harder to keep steady. Tell John you want to shoot them all and pick the one that feels best to you.

I have a SW XT and my dad has a MQ1. I think they are both great bows. I know Mathews had some issues with their first productions drenalin's with the limbs. I'm assuming they have fixed it, but they didn't keep producing the drenalin for very long. Not to sure about the DXT. Im skeptical on the super thin limb design, but Im sure they are great bows, as long as they dont come with a apple anywhere on em ;)

I have shot 3 or 4 thousand arrows with my Drenalin with no problems. Maybe I got a good one.
-
I went to riverside archery yesterday and shot the fire cat, dxt, and the katera. My favorite was by far the dxt.

I did not miss the dig regarding my Hoyt! :P
Just sold it today, now in the market for a new bow. Going to look at the DXT again, but really like the FireCat or the Moab. Guess I will go the Van Winkles or the Nock Pont and shoot them all and see who wins.

Bought the DXT 2 months ago and love it. My back up is Switchback and love it too. Can't go wrong with any Mathews.
-
I bought the drenalin and love it. Im 6' 6'' and have a 31'' draw the dren goes to 31 but again the acute angle of the string does bugger your peep a little. Then they came out with the drenalin ld (long draw) it was 7'' longer giving you a little more room. Wait a while and see if the dxt comes in a ld. You cannot go wrong with any mathews.

i want one but they are way to much $$$$$ for me.

I agree. I've finally outgrown my Ignition and waiting for my DXT. Hopefully, it will be here tomorrow. The majority of our group shoots Mathews. Of course, the husband had to get an 82nd Airborne for 3D, but will still use his Switchback for hunting. :chuckle: We'll see!

Does he go by the name of P-rick?! :dunno:

I have two Mathews, Drenalin and MQ1. Used MQ1 many years with no problems purchased the Drenalin in Jan or Feb 07. I have had no problems yet with the Drenalin. I heard the rumors on the lims but never did see any picks or confirmed evidence of broken limbs.
I have not heard good or bad on the DXT.
-
I hve 2 Mathews also, the good ol'Z-max and a Switchback-XT. Never shot the new bows, dont want to either. Still making payment on my XT, I think I had to get a 60 month loan for it :chuckle:
-
I shot the Katera, dxt and drenaline last week and purchased the drenaline. The dxt was to short for me and actually felt like a toy. The katera was no where near as smooth. Also I have a hoyt and didn't feel like as much as an upgrade. I'm picking up my new mathews in an hour and am very excited.
-
Congratulations MIKE! I liked the Mathews too, but like I said, Katera fit me better. Draw is not as smooth as yours. Glad you got it all sorted out! Think I will buy a new one after the season as well!

I went out and bought the DXT a few weeks ago. I love it. I have been going to the Machias 3D shoot the last couple of weeks and the bow shoots great, couldn't ask for more.
