Buy your bear tag. Then buy the special application. Then you have to submit the special application.

Step one: Buy Tag.

2: Online you can buy your app.

3: Then , in the upper left corner of the hunting section (I think) there is the tab for submitting the app. Make your 4 selections and call it good.

Good luck man.

You left out two steps: (4) get drawn, and (5) go hunt!  :chuckle:

What probably confused you was the Cougar/Bear licence,

I have question also. If there are only 2 areas you really want to hunt, do you have to make 4 choices? I want to stay on the west side of I-5 and know Copalis and Lincoln really well as far as access and such.

If there are only 2 you are interested in then yes you could put in for only 2 if you wanted. I only put in for 1.

Dont apply for Lincoln !!  :chuckle:
Access is not as easy as it sounds, weekdays after 3:00, weekends all day, and open area is only where WH allows, and no DNR, not entire unit  :bash:
I was drawn last year, so hope only 74 others apply...  ;)

Ya its tough as far as the access but I know the area pretty good and its that or Copalis. Copalis is my first choice. Spend much more time there and see lots of Bears! Never Bear hunted before but I got this 300 sitting collecting dust since I changed to Bow. And its a great reason to get out in the woods and do some hunting mid year to break up the long wait. Plus Id love a rug if I did get lucky enough to get one.

If you do manage to draw Lincoln, and I dont, let me know....
I will be turkey hunting there, and know where one was playing hide and, well hide, from me last year.
Got some good pics on my trail camera, and had one come in behind me while I was calling.

so for someone that wants a good bear rug is it better to spring hunt or fall hunt for bear? Why does everyone want the spring hunt? Just confuzed on what's the difference between the 2 seasons.

I am no expert, but it is my understanding that the coat is best either later in the fall as the winter coat comes in, or early in the spring, before it gets rubbed out/off.
I think the main reason spring seems popular is it is limited, permit only, you dont have to apply for fall

Rayonier will charge $100 again this year for an Access Permit to Rayonier lands for the Copalis spring bear hunt.

You had to apply by 3/10/2011, it's over now.
