Title: Looking to do a fishing trip
Post by: Ray on March 01, 2011, 10:18:25 PM
I just want to see if anyone with a boat is willing to take my 4 year old daughter on her first real fishing trip this spring with me. Preferrably somewhere in Snohomish or King County areas as a day trip. I can pay gas. If you have kids it would probably make it better. The objective is to get one fish on the boat or in her hands and hopefully on her fishing pole. Thanks

This fall should be a great time to make this happen. The humpys will be running and the fishing easy. Are intent on a boat trip or would you consider a trip to the river for some casting?

Yeah in the spring want to do a trip in a boat or along a calm lake. My kid still doesn't quite understand the power of moving water, which along rivers is usually swifter in the spring time and she is a little more careless than I would prefer in some situations. We've got a spot to fish in the fall time for the pinks.

Send me a reminder once the weather gets nicer. If you are interested I can take you out to Point Defiance for a day of dogfishing. :) I know it sounds crazy, but the kids love it. You can catch them one after another and they can get fairly big. I take all my nephews out there and and they have way more fun than salmon, trout or halibut fishing. My youngest nephew is the same age and I took him out there last summer. He is still talking about catching sharks.

We have a 19' Arima so it's pretty comfy and the marina is there with restrooms and snacks for the kids. More than happy to take you out if you are interested.

May have a seat open for halibut and salmon if you don't mind going 20-50 miles offshore in a 19'. I wouldn't recomend taking the kids along though it can get pretty wild out there.

I don't want to change the subject but i'd be interested in going offshore but I have my own 21' Glasply that I don't really want to take out there without shadowing someone, I have been several miles offshore in it but don't want to chance going 20-50 miles without having another boat around.

Ray, another thing you might try is going out of Neah Bay or LaPush for some black bass fishin close to the beach, thats always a kid favorite if you pick the right weather day !!

Where do you fish out of? We usually stay at Neah Bay Thursday-Sunday. We have a few spots that are about 3-4 hours to get to, but the last few years they have been surethings. Usually have a 4 person limit in 30-40 minutes with fish between 25-60lb. If the weather is good, we usually head out to blue dot for some big lings to go with the halibut.

I have no issues with you following us out. We use to do the same thing until we got comfortable going out that far. There is usually someone around within view but can be a little nerve wracking when the wind kicks up. My dad and I are usually out for the opener, but really depends on the weather. It's a long drive to not be able to fish.

Keep in touch and I will let you know what our plans are.

All right Rasbo we'll wait until it gets warmer and connect up. Funny, my daughter has a Hello Kitty shirt too. Can't wait. She got her fishing pole two days ago and is already able to cast sometimes.

I believe it becomes a requirement to have a Hello Kitty shirt when you're a 3-4 year old girl. There's a couple of them in our house.
