So last Friday morning my wife wakes me up to tell me that our tax return has come through the bank finally ;D
I called Surplus Ammo and Arms in Lakewood just to see if they had any sp101's. Just my luck they had three. Two new ones and one used one. I jump in the car and drive down there and their prices were right where they should be on the 2 new ones, so I asked to see the used one. I was quite surprised when they brought out a 10 year old sp101 with all the original papers and box. It did not even appear to have been fired much at all. Infact there was only a little powder residue on one of the cylinders. And there price was only $380 :IBCOOL: I bought that for my wife, it never hurts to make the woman happy.
You would think that my gun deal luck had just been used up, but not so. The next day at the Puyallup WAC gunshow I found a S&W 629 CLASSIC, 44mag, 6 1/2 inch barrel with a shoulder rig, two speed loaders, and 110 rounds of ammo. And what you might ask did I have to pay for this very nice revolver? $600 out the door. :IBCOOL:
I wish I could afford weekends like that all the time.

2 good deals, doesn't happen too often. The ruger is a great gun!

My wife picked out the Ruger about 8 months ago as the gun she wanted next. It is a great thing when an opportunity comes up and you have the funds to jump on it. As for the S&W, who does not want to have a 44mag. Especially while hiking and hunting in bear country.
-
Yea so you can just piss the bear off!!
-
Great deal on that Ruger!!! I had no clue those guys carried used guns too!

:dunno: a .44 mag will kill a bear as good as anything :dunno:
-
You will not be let down with both of those. I own both of them. I've had the 629 for over 20 years.
-
A good deal at a WAC gunshow?
Unbelievable.
I thought they were museums... :dunno:
Congrats.
-
Maybe the bears you hunt..
-
lol, whatever. didn't know we had bullet proof bears in this state.
-
Ohh thats right some people only hunt this state, so I guess your always fine then.

If your confident in your shooting it doesn't matter what state you are in.
-
Ohh yea your 100% right Josh I completely forgot about that. My bad I was totally wrong on that statement. :bash:
-
Get yourself a Hogue grip for them. You'll thank yourself later.

I seem to recall a bit of a stink over a particular grizzly that got taken down in a park with a 45acp not too long ago...
The link is bad, I couldn't find one that was still good.

Backpacker shoots, kills grizzly in Alaska park
Associated Press
Last update: May 31, 2010 - 11:14 AM
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A backpacker shot and killed a grizzly bear with his handgun in Alaska's Denali National Park, officials said.
A man and woman reported that they were hiking Friday evening when the bear emerged from trailside brush and charged the woman, park spokeswoman Kris Fister said in a statement.
The man fired nine rounds from his .45 caliber, semiautomatic pistol at the animal, which then stopped and walked into the brush.
The two reported the shooting to rangers, who restricted access to the Igloo Canyon area for fear that the bear was wounded and dangerous.
On Saturday, rangers found the dead bear about 100 feet from the shooting site.
Park officials are determining the justification for the shooting. It's legal to carry firearms in that area of the park but illegal to discharge them.
Rangers said it was the first known instance of a grizzly bear being shot by a visitor in the wilderness portion of Denali, formerly called Mount McKinley National Park.

Was the 101 in .357?
I have looked at it, feels good. Almost pulled the trigger on buying it (pun intended)
I have also seen it in .327
-
Yes the sp101 is in .357mag. I think that we will restrict her .38spcls for a little while though.
-
It's really a great gun. I couldn't tell much difference between the .38+P and the .357. What barrel length did you get?
-
3 inch barrel

That's what I got. If you have trouble finding a holster for it, let me know. I ordered a custom leather, fits great but takes a while.
