found a killer deal on a used one from 2003. story is the guy just stopped hunting. its a ready to shoot package deal, sight, release, arrows...
anybody have experiance with this bow?
more importantly, what are the things to look for when buying a used bow? i figure buy a used bow and learn on that before upgrading to something of more quality later

I think the most important thing is if the bow fits you. You are not going to be able to shoot a bow well if its 2 inch long or short on the draw length.

The magnatec had a short riser that will give ya fits on shots past 40yds. Harder to hold a short riser bow steady. If its super cheap, like less than $150. Go for it and plan on upgrading. I had one and it shot well for me, but I can tell you that the bows today are in a whole different league from that one.
As far as what to look for. Make sure there are no cracks in the limbs. The cams are leaning hard one way or the other. The strings are a wear item and most likely will need replaced unless the previous owner has done so recently.
Good luck

ya guys think 250 for the entire set up is a little much?
ive shot a new pse stinger and that bow fits great... but this is 1/2 the cost...

Seems high to me. Check archerytalk.com classifides. Tons of good deals on there. Feel free to ask if you see something you are interested in and want some input.

What type of sight and all the other extras are on it?

yeah its hard to say if its a good deal if we don't know what comes with it.

If it's all 2003 or older stuff I wouldn't pay more than $150 or so.

I have that bow and it's worked good for me. Make sure it's in good condition before you buy it. Take it in and have it looked at if your not sure what to look for.
