Cool droptine on that buck WSU.....Great bucks in this thread!Missed two shots at that buck about 20 minutes after it got light enough to shoot. :'( 30 minutes or so later it walks in front of my dad and he doesn't miss. He gives me a lot of crap about missing that buck. Ended up getting a little 4x3 around 5 or 6 that night.

I may be wrong, but if my memory is correct that buck grossed in the 190's. ONe of its extra eye guards broke off shortly before Shane killed him, had that not happened I believe it would have grossed just over 200"

Very nice bucks! Crowns, what gun you shooting?
In the picture, a Winchester M70 .270. I had a custom thumbhole stock made that weighs like 14oz and has a limbsaver svl pad. Had a muzzle break put on it. Its topped with a leupold vari-x 3-9x40. Older rifle and scope with some history and some newer modifications. Super light gun, flat shooting and absolutely NO kick for the weight. Its my baby. Thanks for noticing her. Haha.

Miles your Dad's buck has a blonde cap, Muleys are usually Brunettes. Unusually cool.
He did have a lot of blonde coloring. His legs and hind quarters also had the blonde coloring. Here's a few more photos where you can see the coloration. The blonde does seem to blend in well with all the dead grass around him.

He hadn't actually rubbed off all his velvet, so they were really white, with strips of velvet all over them (shining in the sun those white antlers looked a LOT bigger than they actually were). When he dropped he twisted his head around and landed on it, squirting blood all over them.

Yeah, I tried that. I had the "Think about what this will do to the kids" talk with him. Just take the standard speech, and every time you would use the word "kids", replace it with "mule deer"....

Not joking, I knew he was down and the shot was a little back anyway. It was cold, really cold so the deer was fine. With that being said I have to say it was not the most productive day of teaching. I wish I could find pics of one of my other bucks I got in 2004, almost as big as this guy, wider and taller points but only a 5x7 :chuckle: Lots and lots of time in the field!

BEARS!!! Its my go to bear gun now. I'm in the process of looking for a 1-4x20 leupold for it. I'm shooting 430gr. Buffalo Boars at 1980fps out of it. Great gun, thank you!

I guess since I was not there it sounded better than it probable was but I had new emails everyday with pics of really nice bucks. One of my favorite spots produced a nice 8x8 this year :bash: :'( I'll be back down :chuckle:

Whacker how do you like advantage taxidery? Nice buck by the way!I think they do better work than my prior taxidermist, which has a good reputation and does a lot of work. They have a great deal of pride in the work they put out. They keep an open mind and I am pleased thus far. I have had them do this buck and 3 european mounts, so nothing extremely challenging yet. I keep looking for a bob kitty as I like some of the stuff they have done with cats.
