I'll post on behalf of my old man. It is no giant but it is his first. He worked hard and earned it. I am quite proud of him.

my biggest. 9/1/2010
-
Well... Biggest is a relative word. :P. My biggest deer over all is a muley. But as far as Muleys go he isn't big at all. What I consider my Best deer is the blacktail I got this year. So I decided to put my best up one from each species. None of them are anything special, but I love every single animal I kill. :P :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
My two Blacktails from the Pysht area up near Joyce. Not sure which one is larger, but the big, heavy, wide 2x3 is the most memorable to me.
Whenever I come up with capes I plan on getting them mounted.

The Muley in the middle is my biggest WA buck. General rifle season, 2003.
-
My largest to date:
I know huntings hard sometimes and you wanna fill your tag and I'm not trying to put you down but killing a fawn especially a fawn so young it still has its spots just makes me sick.
-
Um, I am gonna speculate that it was a joke, when was the last time anyone saw a fawn that brightly spotted during a season?
-

Missed two shots at that buck about 20 minutes after it got light enough to shoot. :'( 30 minutes or so later it walks in front of my dad and he doesn't miss. He gives me a lot of crap about missing that buck. Ended up getting a little 4x3 around 5 or 6 that night.

I may be wrong, but if my memory is correct that buck grossed in the 190's. ONe of its extra eye guards broke off shortly before Shane killed him, had that not happened I believe it would have grossed just over 200"
-
that is correct... u cant see from that pic but the left side has 9 pts and the otherside has 7 and the busted split brow

Very nice bucks! Crowns, what gun you shooting?
In the picture, a Winchester M70 .270. I had a custom thumbhole stock made that weighs like 14oz and has a limbsaver svl pad. Had a muzzle break put on it. Its topped with a leupold vari-x 3-9x40. Older rifle and scope with some history and some newer modifications. Super light gun, flat shooting and absolutely NO kick for the weight. Its my baby. Thanks for noticing her. Haha.

He did have a lot of blonde coloring. His legs and hind quarters also had the blonde coloring. Here's a few more photos where you can see the coloration. The blonde does seem to blend in well with all the dead grass around him.
-
Some great washington deer congrats every one

Here is mine from this last season and my buddies from a couple of years ago

Yes, it was a very literal "dirt nap". 105 yards, broke both front shoulders. Died right where he was standing. Fresh till too... :chuckle:

Why are his antlers so black :dunno:
-
Why are his antlers so black :dunno:
He hadn't actually rubbed off all his velvet, so they were really white, with strips of velvet all over them (shining in the sun those white antlers looked a LOT bigger than they actually were). When he dropped he twisted his head around and landed on it, squirting blood all over them.

I'd go with me next year too if I still had permission to hunt that same ranch. :'(The guy I hunted with went through a divorce and the land was in her family, not his.
Damn him. She wasn't that bad... he could have at least held out for a couple more years with her... :bash: :bash:

Yeah, I tried that. I had the "Think about what this will do to the kids" talk with him. Just take the standard speech, and every time you would use the word "kids", replace it with "mule deer"....
didn't work...:chuckle: :chuckle:
-
OK I have to get in on it, this is from 2004 sorry it looks so bad it got left out side :bash:

That's a stud 400! :tup:You can fix that bleaching with some Minwax woodstain and steel wool... :twocents:

Haven't got to it :bash: :bash: you should see it in person it's really bad a$$! and it didn't cost me a round ;) Watched a guy lose it and give up and then found it the next day and tagged it  ( after I realized the guy was not even going to go back in a look for it) IDIOT! But don't tell some of my buddies , I have a hellof a story that goes with it :chuckle: :chuckle:

Got this guy chasing a doe before work one morning. I had to leave him all day and go back and look for him after work.(I was already late) My hunting partner (who is holding him) and I found him just after dark. Talk about going from feeling sick to on top of the world. He has a 23" inside spread, shot at under 30 yards trotting, hit back of liver. I had seen him twice since August.

Not joking, I knew he was down and the shot was a little back anyway. It was cold, really cold so the deer was fine. With that being said I have to say it was not the most productive day of teaching. I wish I could find pics of one of my other bucks I got in 2004, almost as big as this guy, wider and taller points but only a 5x7 :chuckle: Lots and lots of time in the field!
-

BEARS!!! Its my go to bear gun now. I'm in the process of looking for a 1-4x20 leupold for it. I'm shooting 430gr. Buffalo Boars at 1980fps out of it. Great gun, thank you!
-
Well im glad i sold it to someone who would make good use of it(hope you kill a monster grizz or kodiak with it). So did any of your buds kill any good wt this year?

:bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: I would say it was the best whitetail year in a decade! All my buddies got big bucks, all 135" plus a couple upwards of 170". Some real hogs, and one nice non typical. I guess since I was not there it sounded better than it probable was but I had new emails everyday with pics of really nice bucks. One of my favorite spots produced a nice 8x8 this year :bash: :'( I'll be back down :chuckle:

-
Whacker how do you like advantage taxidery? Nice buck by the way!
I think they do better work than my prior taxidermist, which has a good reputation and does a lot of work. They have a great deal of pride in the work they put out. They keep an open mind and I am pleased thus far. I have had them do this buck and 3 european mounts, so nothing extremely challenging yet. I keep looking for a bob kitty as I like some of the stuff they have done with cats.
-
Yeah I really like their work im really good friends with all the hubbards. I have done a couple of their European mounts for them, but they do take a lot of pride in their work thats for sure!

I've posed these before, but will again. First 2 are Blacktail/Mulie crosses. 2nd is my best Whitetail. Last one was my Dad's last hunt. Means a lot to me, even though the buck was Joe Average.

Bowhunter45-
Those are some damn nice BT's! Wow. That first one has to score up there in the P&Y books? Great mass.
Were you hunting that particular deer or just the general area knowing a buck was in there?
-
Well it sure takes alot of patients ..being from Pennsylvania I thought I could just sit and wait for blacktail .... well kinda if you are looking at alot of country .. but all the nice ones I have gotten were in the Rut and persistance has always been the key .. find the sign and pound it until you get him....I flat out love blacktail hunting and I always bragged up the whitetail but to take big blacktail is a league all by itself...I have been fortunate to live in an area where I killed some dandy animals within miles of my house including my biggest bull which scores 349 1/8 pope & young and finally a cougar that was off the chart for being within 1 mile from my house ...just pounding the brush and never giving up .......
-
