Post by: STIKNSTRINGBOW on March 10, 2011, 12:21:37 PM
Just thought I would start the first thread on when they are going to post the results, I am guessing/hoping March 25th we will be able to "back door", just wish I had not drawn last year, don't expect to be drawn again.......
But you never know.....

When do they do the Multi Season Results?

Multi-season results should be in April. The deadline to apply is March 31st.

I didn't even apply for a point for spring bear this year. I'm trying to cut back on how much money I spend with the WDFW this year. I'm sure they won't notice though, unless others do the same.

ya, unless you dont buy a licence/tag at all, your $6 isn't going to be noticed..
even then, they wont miss a couple hundred $$, they spend more on that w/o care.

Yeah, well I also didn't buy the bear/cougar tags when I bought my deer/elk combo, like I normally do. And I'm not buying the small game license. Take that WDFW!   :chuckle:

Hopefully this isn't the year you come around a corner and that cat's standing in the road!  That's the only reason I buy 'em every year, I know the year I don't buy them will be the year I hit the 1/100 chance of bumping into a cougar.  :bash:

Yeah I am thinking March 25th as well. When were we able to see back door results last year?

Don't really care about turkeys. Besides, I've got to cut back somewhere. Money doesn't seem to grow on trees anymore. And, I hope to be spending an additional $180 on the multi-season deer permit, so that will more than make up for the other licenses and tags I don't purchase.    :)

now that is just funny to me, you object to spending money on Spring Bear app/Bear/Cougar/Small Game, yet think paying $180+regular tag and licence for deer is O.K. ?
different strokes......
Good Luck ! (and if you do see those damn Turkeys, please PM me !)

:chuckle:   Can you blame him? There aren't any good units around here to apply for. Lincoln would be alright if the entire GMU is open. But it's not.   :bash:

That doesn't matter.  He just uses drawing the permit as an excuse to live in the woods for 2 months.  He has no intention of killing a Bear.  He just has the option of killing one while he is out there.  :chuckle:

Yeah, yeah...you guys are funny.  :chuckle:

A big part of it is that I have already spent most of the last year in the woods one way or another, either scouting, hunting, trapping, mushrooming or trail caming. I drew a spring permit last year and returned it. I just figured that there are going to be some new hunts in the next year or so and wanted to save what I have.

Plus I am not immune from the economy. Something has to give. My wife and I both currently had/have furlough days and we are both taking a 3% pay cut over the next two years. My recent 5% increase helps, but won't keep us even with last year. Gas prices are skyrocketing same as food, power, etc.

I will still get out closer to home with my cameras and hopefully I can get a chance to go out with a HuntWa member or two.

Last year the permit apps were due on March 12th and they had the results out on the 26th. This year they were due on March 10th so I'm going to guess we will know by Fri the 25th.

Found out today that the CF will not be on the table for spring bear hunts for quite awhile. Basically DNR needs to see significant bear damage before a spring season can be considered. All westside spring bear hunts will continue to be driven by damage, and not be put out as hunting opportunity. Stricktly damage control.

I will have to look I honestly didn't see anything about it.  I glanced though but didn't really read the Spring Bear Section.  I was told which areas to put in for by another Member that I plan to hunt with this spring.

It does show one new eastside hunt with 4 permits for this year.

That is true, but the westside areas will based on damage which means they will go away when the damage goes away. They are also looking to include more timber companies and state lands when possible.

If that is true, this will probably be the last season for Lincoln, as WH only reported damage once during season (although I found plenty, and increasing as the season ended) and that was not in the open area......

The season would still happen for the 3 year cycle. You also have to account for the bears killed by hound hunters and the damage that happened but was not reported. The issues with the Lincoln unit are being considered when opening the new westside units, but the timber companies still have a say.

According to what D. Martorello told me, they were not allowed more than 3 permits, so unless someone  "cheated" or damage not reported (would be the same as not happening, because if they did not report...)

According to the worker selling coffee in the morning at my local 76 station, the hound hunters were hunting near Doty, so outside permit area.
But then again, I don't believe everything I hear.
I just hope that I get another chance to hunt Spring Bear in my spot, before it is no longer available, but hopefully there will be more Cascara this year and I can get one in August...  :dunno:

Don't worry, when I get drawn with my one point I'll let you walk me right up to boo-boo.
we don't want boo boo we will be after yogi.  Although boo boo would make an awesome life size mount in my bathroom.  He could hold the toilet paper.

Not to be a downer, but I heard from a pretty reliable source that spoke WDFG that the results would not be posted until the end of the month.  Hope it is misinformation, but just thought I would pass it along.  Good luck everyone.

This little guy was taken after finding him near his dead mother's carcass. I decided to fill my tag on him rather than let him fend for himself and most likely starve. His name is Pokey (taken with my bow) and he has sensitive feelings so please be kind  :P

He usually sits above my computer (previous picture), but because of his versatile size on occasion I will put him on the floor in the living room. (Occasion = new company coming over.) Most of the time they think it's a dog at first, followed by a visible jump or shake of startlement. ...the wife really love's this.  :IBCOOL:

Now you're just going to feel a little poke...

If anyone is interested, Darren Fuson @ Fusons Taxidermy -509-276-1040- did the mount. He gave me a really good price, $800+ :twocents: , considering full-body bears usually run $2000+ (I think...) Granted he IS a little smaller but the same steps are involved.
