Title: Slick Trick vs Griz Trick
Post by: sakoshooter on March 13, 2011, 11:32:51 PM
Any opinions? Slick Trick, Slick Trick Magnum, Razor Trick and Grizz Trick. All are 4 blade broadheads. Anyone shoot any of them? I'm really looking at either the 100gr Magnum or the 100gr Grizz and I'm leaning toward the Grizz.

I have been shooting 100 grain slick trick standards for a few years. They fly just like my feild tips, cut a nice hole and are a strong broadhead. :twocents:

i have shot both of the broadheads. didnt have good luck with the grizzly tricks they didnt fly good i dont know if it was that i didnt tune them right or what. i switched back to the slick trick mags and they flew like my field points. i have used them for the last 2 years and love them

I shot the standards last year shot great for me.  I also got my dad a dozen mags and those are shooting great also.  I have not shot the griz tricks

I got the grizztricks flying good out of my set-up. You should see the devastating mark they leave in my target. I haven't shot anything with a heartbeat with them but I want to really really bad. I have seen some pics and they do devastating damage. :yike:

I have shot both the standard and the mags and the both flew like my field points.  I have considered the grizz tricks sevedral times but why spend the $$$ when I have something that flys good already.

I'm shooting NAP 100gr Thunderheads now and they fly great and have a proven track record but I like the idea of a 4th blade. I have shot the Slick Trick standards and they fly just like my Thunderheads. All shoot the same point of impact as my field points.
Most of my bow kills were done wtih Bear Razorheads and Magnus fixed blades in the late 60's and 70's. In fact, I was a field tester for Magnus in the early 70's for their 4 fixed blade design. Great head that isn't made any more. I lean toward a large cutting area. I continued target shooting over the years but mostly gun hunted with a few scattered bow hunts thrown in here and there. Bow hunted last year for elk and am very much looking forward to bowhunting elk again this year. Too damn bad we can't do both.

i shot both the magnums and standards and love how they fly, but hate the blade straight. shot a two pt deer with the magnums and the blades crushed against the ferrule. shot the cow elk with the standards and the same thing. both animals died immediately though! the griz dont fly as good but cut a massive hole in a coyote, i mean like a 3" hole. that dog ran about 25-30yds and did one of those nose plants. only problem is the tip it bends pretty easy.

Heres what a slick trick looks like after shooting it into a cinder block.  The second video is strait to the point.

Good video. I like the end where it says "No barrels or fruit were hurt in the making of this video". Funny.
I've never liked the idea of a fold up broadhead and that video just confirmed my thoughts. Thanx for posting Colokumelk.

Thamks Sako.  Those were the two videos that cemented my decision to get the slick trick.  I shoot the 125 grain Magnums, and I LOVE THEM!!!  Can't wait to take them elk hunting this year.

From everyone's comments on here, I think I'll write off the Grizz Tricks and go with the Magnums but probably the 100gr heads.

I used the ST standards this past season for the first time ever. Shot a 5x6 Roosevelt. Arrow went through the elk, 15 yards up the hill and lodged 20" into the bank. One of the blades on the head was slightly bent over, but I didn't care as I never reuse broadheads, and if I did, I would buy new replacement blades.

The elk went 18 yards. In fact, the elk turned and ran up the hill and made it about 8 feet past the arrow.

I have never tried the other Slick Tricks, not sure I want to but probably owe it to myself to do so.
