Title: Lee turret press - Ram question
Post by: BlackRidge on March 22, 2011, 01:16:58 PM
Hey guys,

Picked up a new turret press and noticed the Ram's slot is situated in about the 7 o'clock position. Compared to my classic breech lock press which had it at the 6 o'clock position, it just seemed... off

Can anyone help to confirm that this is indeed the position it should be in?  The folks at Lee haven't returned my email yet

Thanks

I just bought the same press.  Mine is the same way.  I'm sure there's a reason, but I couldn't figure it out.  A couple hundred rounds have gone through with no problem, so I figure 20k more should be no problem.  But I just don't know where the logic is for the offset.

Thanks for the reply

Just got off the phone with the Lee folk and found thats the way it was intended to be... oddly enough..

Haha as long as it works I suppose, thanks Todd

Now if I could only figure out how to collect/dispose of my spent primers w/ this thing  :chuckle:

I ended up putting a 10x13 baking pan on the floor below where most of the primers seem to hit.  A few still miss on random bounces, but most make it into the pan.

I wasent sure what you guys were talking about at first and I have 2 of the 1000's. I fashioned some cardboard boxes that hang underneath. The ones that were missing the pan hated the vacuum cleaner.

I have a lee press that I use only for pulling bullets out of cases. It actually has a clear plastic tube that channels spent primers into a garbage can or receptacle of your choice.

Yea, the classic breach style I started with has one of those clear tubes too, worked great. But this new turret press seems to just kick the spent primers out of the ram and into these weird holes in the bottom of the base, and or spit them out onto the floor.

The ones that go through the base hole(s) just end up sitting there because of how you have to mount it, lol. I feel like I'm reverse engineering this thing to figure out what they were thinking....
