Other than placing an add in craigs list, and I know you can contact cabelas, but not exactly sure how..
Does anyone know any businesses that would buy an elk mount?
-
You could ask around at the sportsman shops.... :dunno:
I know the pawn shop by my place has a bear mount...(no, it aint one of mine)
-
post it in the classifieds on here....

A lot depends on how big it is, what you are asking, how it looks. You might want to post some pictures. There are a lot of buyers on EBAY that are looking for that kind of decor either for themselves or for clients.

In my experiance it is hard to sell mounts as a whole. Especially with how high shipping costs are for such a big critter. I once shipped a elk mount to the east coast for a customer..... Holy smokes! Better figure a $600.00 bill for shipping give or take. Really depends on the size of the crate . So if the mount has removable horns the smaller the crate can be. If not ...I would definately try to sell it locally first maybee put it in the northwest craigslist's to start. And then put it on Ebay, but if you do Ebay youll want to find out your crating charges and have a trucking company in mind to ship it with. Get some estimates first so you have a good Idea how to list it on ebay. Other than that you can try local Taxidermists also, you never know. Chances are the mount wont be what we want, just the horns. I know one thing I have seen , and I have done some appraisals for people that wanted to sell some mounts. Most are discouraged at the prices I tell them they can realistically sell there mounts for. Post up some pics so we can see what your working with. Hope that gave you a little insight ?? All in all, it is worth what someone is willing to pay.

I will post some pics as soon as I get it Wed.
Its a 400 SCI Typical Bull from Idaho. The rack is real light or blond colored throughout. Sits on a Pedestal. Very similar but bigger than this:

Why the H E double hockey sticks are you selling it?

That is a good question and one I am haggling with myself..
The jist of it is this.. it was for my X wife, it was a bull she got in Idaho.. well I should say, she shot the back leg out and I finished off, butchered and cleaned.. so in many ways its more mine than hers.. it does not remind me of her in anyway, but I dont have the space cleaned out for it yet. there is a huge Box old projection TV there currently.
... Sh*t I should probably just keep it. We will see.

There are many things you could do with it besides just outright selling it.
Loan it to a sporting goods store for display until you get the room for it.
Donate it to a charity fundraiser like the friends of the nra, rmef, pheasants forever, etc.
Trade it to an outfitter in exchange for a hunt.
Lease it to one of the traveling game shows.
You could give it to your ex. Haha

All except the last one my good man..
Nice idea about trading for a hunt! I might do that!
-
Is it a wild bull or a high fenced bull?
Not that it matters much I guess...just curious since you said SCI...that might make a difference.

free range. SCI points. as opposed to the B&C scale.
