upper Nooch valley. This guy takes my mineral block. The pics were a succession of 3 and then 3 minute pause.
the next time the cam triggers and the block is gone.
for two more weeks, the deer still come looking though.
-
#50lb mineral block.
good thing my cam was in a bear/thief lockbox and bolted-cabled to the tree.!!
cam was camoflauged with moss, sticks around the box and tree too.
-
What the F**K, who steals a 50 # mineral block. I thought I'd heard everything, but that takes the cake! Hopefully he hurt his back packing it out.
-
Probably just went and hid it somewhere, I know I wouldn't pack out a 50 lb $10 block of salt!
Good thing you had your cam boxed up and camo'd!
-
I'd be wanting to get a concrete block and cover it with salt/mineral. Or a box...with a badger or a snake in it. It would be too much fun to mess with that guy. He's probably got a spot a couple hundred yards away.
-
I agree with Hoffa this would be a good time to screw with this A-hole. :spank_butt:
-
Whats he packin?
-
That is pretty F'ed up. That guy is no young kid either. Think he would know better. :spank_butt:
-
What a low-life ! Who steals a salt block ? Hope he broke his back or his ankle.
-
In defense of the so called thief. I NO evidence of theft only that that the lick is gone 11 days later.
-
Wow, NOT COOL!
-
AMAZING! Just shows these days people will steal about anything they can get their hands on! If not just for the sake of stealing something!
-
my partners (2) and I searched the area for over an hour, looking to see if the block was moved. Our search covered a circular area for 150 yards.
Bird tripped the cam 9 minutes after this 3 image series of the guy. Block was gone then.
this fella reappeared on another cam down the trail aways.
another game cam 80 yards away was messed with something fierce. We got this guy messing with my partners Reconyx cam from another high viz positioned cam, acting as a security cam overlooking the Reconyx that was messed with. But it remained bolted-cabled to the tree. he was using the branch he wields in my photos to smash at the other cam.
he never reappeared in the other 3 cams after this one day, Feb 9.
we had a total of 5 cams spread out.
Pulled them all today, March 26.
a lil- spike blacktail, two days before. You can see the block then.
-
I have had salt blocks and trophy rock snagged by people too very stupid if anything you would think they would start hunting the same spot instead of taking it? with 50 lbs salt licks only $10 doesnt make sence
-
Hate to say it, but anything left in the woods is fair game for trouble. I wouldn't leave any trail camera in the woods.
-
post the other pics of the guy messing with the cams. Maybe someone will know who it is.

I would guess he already hunts the spot and was pissed to see someone else put an arsenal of game cameras in the area.
-
:yeah:
possible. he may rifle hunt this particular area. Cams were spread out over 600 yards along the treeline, as the crow flies.
We only bowhunt here, usually in treestands and have never spotted another archer in the last 3 years.
-
Its still a shame to have a dick like that in the woods. Let him buy his own salt block
-
You should set up a Burmese tiger pit. It'd be "La la la la, oh another free mineral block..." then "aaahhhhh, splat!" right onto dung dipped bamboo spikes.
On the other hand, moving the gear was probably a better idea.
-
pretty sad that there's people like that out in the woods :twocents:
-
You should hang a note on the camera, saying Smile, we just captured your picture remotely. :chuckle: Then go pull the card and post the pic on here. Likely someone will know who it is.
Even if things are on public ground, vandalism isn't cool, I don't care what it is.
-
Not trying to defend, but was there heavy rain? My salt lick was ruined by rain, and the only thing left was a red stain on the plants.
-

In 3 min? that would be one huge rain storm!! :dunno:
The salt block is the least of the issue. The fact he tried to damage the other cam with his stick would have me pissed!
Kris
-
Those mineral blocks last a long time even in the pouring rain. Post his pics
-
Too bad they don't make cameras with nitro glycerin in them....then the problem would fix itself :chuckle: :chuckle:

They make this. Picture this in a case mounted to a tree. When they remove it they get hit. Or set it up so when they take it home and open it up it gets them.

Guess they stole yours too.
-
to all you *censored*s defending this guy for STEALING dudes salt lick and nockn the *censored* out of his trail cam, GO PISS UP A ROPE, have you guys stole from people in the past? is that why your defending this loser? the dude is straight up caught, guilty as sin, catch him and rip his fingernails out, and then beat him just a bit, thats the problem with this country to MANY bleeding hearts, yeah its only a salt block but its the purpose of the thing as for the trail cams, very expensive and then the time to pu it up, to you who says what is found in the woods is fair game tell me where you hunt so when you leave your pick up i can take what i want or watch you hang your treestand and then i will go take it :twocents: or 20
-
Here is a tip for not getting your salt block taken. Switch to granulated salt and spread on the ground. Kick some dirt over the top of it to make is look natural. No one will know. :twocents:
-
we are assuming is is not on private property, nothing worse that a trespasser, I know 2 people that have had someone put up tree stands on there property, no permission, in a clearly marked fence line, one of them took it down and still has it, supprise no one came forward to claim it, the other one dissapered, im just saying that not knowing all the facts you cant sectulate, if this dude did vandilize the game cameras and steel the salt block on pubic land, my guess is that he is a bunny hugger of the worst kind, file a report with the sherriffs dept. its called hurassment .

nope but that POS salt lick I bought at wholesale for 10 bucks. First and last time I put a salt lick down :twocents: The apples I put down seem to last longer :chuckle:
-
It's all good then. Besides those 50 lbers are load to pack around!!
-
I agree with campmeat
If its out for the public its open for the theft.
Hell what do you expect ?
You can't even leave a locked truck parked on a road somewhere.
a-holes abound
Sucks
-
Stealing a salt lick and breaking into a truck is like apples and oranges. I belive breaking into a truck is a felony. You can use deadly force, stealing a salt lick isn't. Anybody correct me if I'm wrong. I'd still beat the crap out of the salt lick thief and shoot the felon breaking into my truck... :twocents:
-
I would suspect that if someone would steel a salt lick, and damage ones game camera they are not fellow hunters, they will be your anti-hunter, or environmental bunny hugger types, and that is hurrassment folks, report this to the sherriffs dept. its a crime, oh and its not ok to steal someone elses property, were ever it is, come on.
-

+1
May not be 'correct', but I'm w/ you :chuckle:
-
I totally agree its the caliber of aholes I'm refering to, stealing salt ,,messing with a MT bike behind a gate, swiping a game cam, swiping a treestand.
I have been broken into and its a bitch not being able to leave your truck at a gate to hunt, that was my point, totally agree on the as*whoop, if you shoot someone breaking into a truck you're the one they are going to take to jail, may want to re-think that one.
Generally you can only usually deadly force to protect life, not property.
-
I leave nothing of value in my truck. Except wood shovel and tire chains. I would hate to come back to my truck and have that stuff missing. I also stash my mountain bike in the trees when i hunt back on the gated roads, it would take all of my will not to stick an arrow up the persons ass that took it. I would never steal someones stuff. Maybe walk in front of the camera and smile for them. I guess i have a conscience? I don't understand people. Its not right even though its only a salt lick. Seen a few in my hunting area, and even a tree stand above it, i don't touch nothing. To the guy that has the stand with the salt licks in the little meadow in the Taneum. GOOD SPOT
-
I have found at least three salt licks in Taneum. One block with an old wooden tree stand and two rock salt stumps with no visible stands. Maybe I'm on someone's trail cam. At least I wasn't scratching myself at the time.
-
Hate to say it, but anything left in the woods is fair game for trouble. I wouldn't leave any trail camera in the woods.
Where would you use it / leave it then? :chuckle: :chuckle:
-

Oh man... Everytime I think I'm on camera out in the woods, I scratch and sniff. Pee too! Right next to the salt block! :chuckle:

I use one on my private property right here at the house. Problem solved.

Nice place!

Now if you were to ask an Attorney. This guy could not be proven guilty. The camera caught him in the vicinity, but not in the act.
But I am not an attorney--------so I say guilty!
I think Campmeat took it. He showed a pic of it at his house :chuckle:
-
I'm guilty. Caught in the act. Caught with my pants down................. :o :o :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
I think the facts are "IF" he is the one that took it he would have some big time explaining to do. Got no room for people that do this kinda *censored*, If it ain't yours leave it the hell alone.
But by the LAW BOOK, if he did take it, it is not theft.... its public property?
I would sure wanna find his ass and ask him face to face just what the F*** his was thinkin.......... :bash: :bash:

you believe that you can use "deadly force" on someone breaking into a vehicle??? unless you are sitting in the vehicle that is being broke in to and believe your life is in danger yes....otherwise i hope you like your girlfriend nammed "bubba", being confined in a 6 x 10 foot concrete room for 23 hours a day with a psychotic cellie and showering for 5 minutes daily with 20 2 legged preadators waiting for you to drop the soap....if this doesn't sound appealing i'd reccommend calling 911 or your insurance company....wasn't your pair of swarovski's in there?? just kidding on the last line....i don't advocate insureance fraud
-
I don't care what internet lawyers think. It's my stuff and the criminal will have to deal with the consequences. Too many people give criminals rights. As far as I'm concerned criminals don't have any rights when they're breaking into a $30,000 truck or your house, raping a women, child molesters etc. I have NO sympathy for criminals, period.

working in the criminal justice system for the last 10 years i have no sympathy for criminals either....just saying if you act like a criminal (i.e. using deadly force on someone breaking into an empty vehicle) you're gonna get prosecuted like one. Breaking into someone's home or raping a woman or child molestation are different situations all together and need to be treated as such. what I was commenting on was the quote of using deadly force on someone breaking into your truck. Don't get me wrong---I'm no internet lawyer just someone who wants you to realize that the use of deadly force does have lawful limitations....I don't want to see the "good guys" end up where I'm at. There's a reason they keep wild animals in cages--two and four legged
-
How can protecting your property be considered " if you act like a criminal you're going to be prosecuted like one ? " I'm not the criminal. That's the problem with society today, the honest citizen doesn't have any rights. This state needs the " Castle Law. "

its real easy....you can't kill someone for just breaking into your truck...you can't use deadly force when protecting PROPERTY...if you do you're gonna get prosecuted....now if you're in, on or around the property that is being criminalized and you feel iminate life threatening danger by all means use what ever force is necessary to protect YOURSELF...not your property...I feel your pain brother as far as criminals vandalizing/breaking into your truck but you need to be aware that using deadly force to protect only "property" is gonna land you in prison. The honest citizen does have rights when it comes to SELF DEFENSE, or the defense of other PEOPLE (unfortunately that's about all we have) but not when using deadly force to protect PROPERTY. Not trying to get into an argument with you about what's right or wrong (cuz i feel just as frustrated as you do) i just want you to be aware of what the consequences are before you feel the need to use "deadly force" on a property crime

Ok, I was scared for my life when he was breaking into my truck! so I killed the some@#$%h! Remember if your in that situation, You were scared for your life.

Sure are allot of us that think alike.

Well said Capone ;)
-
Brew is 100% correct. End result is, if you shoot someone, (unless there was an obvious iminate threat to yourself or others) you are going to jail and going to be charged with Homicide. It's up to a Judge/Jury to decide whether you were justified or not. Seen it a few times here. Guy sits in jail for a year or longer going back and forth to court before being acquited and released. Long time to be away from your family. :twocents:

See, this kind of crap is what gets under my skin. Chances are your not going to shoot some arse for breaking into your truck, maybe pull a shotgun and scare the piss out of him and hold him hostage until the cops come. But just the same, this attitude is why so many anti-gun activist are out there trying to take away our rights. Because people make these stupid choices then try and defend themeselves with an this type of attitude. This may work in some cases, depending on the judge, jury and defense lawyer but like someone else said...do you really want to take that chance and spend all that time away from your family, racking up all those legal bills and lose your job.. over what? Your truck?? Thats why you have insurance, I would hope.
My truck has been broken into twice in the past two years, the first nothing taken the thief was scared off by the alarm. The second time, my fault I left the truck unlocked. They got two GPS units and a small amount of cash. Now I have security cameras, four of them watching the front of my house. Oh yea, got my GPS unit back(one at least) *censored* tried to sell it at a local pawn shop after it was reported stolen. They got the *censored* on video trying to pawn it. That was my justice.
-
I was just saying if you had to shoot somebody you'd better say that you were scared for your life. I dought I would kill someone for breaking into my truck, but you can bet I would be armed when I walk up on them and if they gave me a reason- like threaten me in anyway- yes I might just put them in the ground. And I don't care what the anti's think about how I would protect my valuable's, no matter what you do or how you react they will still want you to lose your gun rights. And that's not going to happen.
-
One more good reason to leave an airsoft toy gun laying on the front seat of your truck.... 8)
Get out of jail free card...
-
I think the bottom line here is don't be stupid. You don't shoot at anyone unless your life is actually in danger. This isn't the old west. If you do then you are no smarter than the idiot that decided to break into the truck. We want to keep our right to own and bear arms, use your heads.

You remember that hand gun that you bought at the yard sale several years ago and decided you didn't really need it after all and it has been sitting in your safe for the last 5 years. Makes a good drop gun doesn't it????
When he drew his gun I reacted faster....

This is a touchy subject! Meth heads wont stop! When is it going to be enough? I definatly wish it was, the old west! .20 of lead would save alot of money now days!

am I missing something here??? when did we become a society of people committing felonious, life altering crimes(manslaughter/murder) for someone-meth head or not-breaking into a truck??? what the hell are you thinking?? Hey I've got a great idea....why don't i leave a written account of how i'm gonna kill someone who's committing a property crime against me and plant evidence to make my actions justified?!!? Do you not think that law enforcement and WDFW monitor this site and God forbid if something similar to this ever happened to you it could be used against you in a court of law?!!? I'm no victim's advocate but just realize everything you type out on this site may be an admission of guilt. I feel your pain as far as having crimes committed against you but please think before you respond

I personaly am not going to put myself in a situation where I have to live with myself everyday knowing I took someones life for something as petty as a vehicle prowl or stealing a frickn block of salt.
-
Over the weekend tweekers stole the stereo out of my neighbor's jeep. I've seen the padlock on my shed angled up like someone was trying to pick it. Haven't put my trail cam out anywhere, so I think I'll put it out to see who's snooping around at night. Might catch some 2-legged varmints!
-
Come on, he stole 8 bucks worth of salt. Gotta be heavy, don't see a pack on him. Sucky
