On my last trip to Skagit, I couldnt resist going and seeing my friends. It didnt take long at all to find them. Talked with a local guy who writes for the paper there, and he said they are going to manage them at 6. Kinda disapointing.

LaConner?
-
Looks like the ones I see in LaConner.
-
Yes, that would be LaConner.
I love the pic of the one perched on the peak. I kept hearing him but didnt know where he was until I moved up the road a little.
-
I got some pics of the same flock. Little ol' lady showed up with a feed sack & started giving them scratch. Shucks, I was just getting ready to club one and throw it in the roaster. :P

A guy shot one a few years back and the town was up in arms. I think the DFW just reduced the population recently. They town voted to have them removed.

Those are some great pics Smoke.
H2o, the city councle voted to maintain a population of 6 birds. Yes they just whacked a few of them not long ago. There were about 20 from what I hear through the vine.
-
A couple more.

Thanks. I was belly crawling on the wet street. People thought I was nuts, but I like to get low so the camera is at their eye level. Jeez, if I knew they were gonna whack some I would have tatered a couple for supper.
I'm not sure how many I saw... seems like it was 6 or 8, but all I got proof of is four.

What ever happened to the Big Lake birds? I haven't seen any up that way for a while. I remember they were trying to get huntable populations up there about ten years ago.
-
What camera are you using ? THose are great shots !
I dont know about that other flock... maybe someone else might.
-
Oh man, this is really cool to me. Turkeys in the neighborhood. Awesome. I remember the times ya had to drive out into the back 40 of nowhere to see turkeys. Nice!!!
-
Wish we had some turkey hunting around here.
NWTF, the camera I used was a canon eos 350d rebel. But the main thing is the lens. These shots were taken with a Canon 70-200 F4L. It's a little slow, but man when the light is o.k. it takes some sharp pictures. I bought a Canon 50D & haven't used it much yet. When the weather gets better I sure will. It's an awesome camera.
