Title: Skagit visit.
Post by: NWTFhunter on March 28, 2011, 04:42:15 PM: On my last trip to Skagit, I couldnt resist going and seeing my friends. It didnt take long at all to find them. Talked with a local guy who writes for the paper there, and he said they are going to manage them at 6. Kinda disapointing.

I love the pic of the one perched on the peak. I kept hearing him but didnt know where he was until I moved up the road a little.

H2o, the city councle voted to maintain a population of 6 birds. Yes they just whacked a few of them not long ago. There were about 20 from what I hear through the vine.

Post by: Smokepole on March 28, 2011, 11:21:42 PM: Thanks. I was belly crawling on the wet street. People thought I was nuts, but I like to get low so the camera is at their eye level. Jeez, if I knew they were gonna whack some I would have tatered a couple for supper.

I'm not sure how many I saw... seems like it was 6 or 8, but all I got proof of is four.

NWTF, the camera I used was a canon eos 350d rebel. But the main thing is the lens. These shots were taken with a Canon 70-200 F4L. It's a little slow, but man when the light is o.k. it takes some sharp pictures. I bought a Canon 50D & haven't used it much yet. When the weather gets better I sure will. It's an awesome camera.
