Some of my friends and I are going camping/fishing at the Quincy Lakes next week. We leave Tuesday night and stay till Sunday morning. I was wondering how the fishing over there has been lately? I usually look at the lake reviews on WashingtonLakes.com but the last time I checked the latest reviews were about three weeks old, so I was hoping to find something a little more recent. We usually fish Burke and hike down and fish Dusty with the fly poles. This year the plan is to hit up all the lakes that we can when over there. Any tips or advice would be helpful. Thanks

we usually go in early April so there isn't as many out. I think we've seen 5 in the last 4 years. Some of us bring horses, dogs and kids so going in April is safer snake wise :twocents:

It is really pretty over there. My friend caught a trout down at Dusty that had to be close to 5 pounds. Maybe my 20 inch rainbow look tiny. I'll post some pictures from over there later on tonight.

last time I went down to Dusty I think was August, must have got lucky cause no snakes! I did see one in Chelan though last sept, a BIGun. not that it's related...
do you guys really eat rattlers? I hadn't thought about blasting them for the rattle though, could be a cool trophy. wondering about the risk of poison if though on the teeth, does that ever dry out or go away?
-
Shovel or knife, cut the head off. I wouldn't be playing around with their teeth, there would definitely be some residual poison.
Sure do eat 'em, just another white meat.

Cool maybe I'll have to give that a try. going to have to head over to the Quincy lakes meself I think.

Got back from the Quincy lakes yesterday afternoon. Left Enumclaw 10 Wednesday morning and got there at 1. After getting the tents up and having lunch we hit Burke for a few hours that night. My buddy caught 1 about 10 inches. Fished another spot on Burke Thursday morning. I ended up catching a decent size trout after about 10 minutes of having my line in the water. We hit up Dusty that after noon. Both me and my buddy caught 4 on our fly poles. The next day 3 of us went out on Quincey in the boat. Ended up catching 11 between the 3 of us about 3 1/2 hours. Kept a few but mainly did catch and release. Went on a horse ride instead of fishing Saturday (we go with a group of back country horsemen) Got up Sunday morning tore down the tents, loaded everything in the truck, picked up around camp and hit the road bout 10. Overall it was a good trip. Some friends that live over on Vashon weren't able to make it so that was a bummer. The weather was good, Saturday was about perfect. Didn't see any rattle snakes this year. Only bad part was on Friday night I tripped on a rock and landed bad on my ankle (alcohol may have been involved :chuckle:) It's swollen and bruised pretty good. I got some pictures of some of the fish we caught and some of the surrounding country I will put on here later on tonight

Glad you had a great trip! Sounds like fun. I take the wife and kids out there a few times each year. Always a good time!

Here are some of the pictures from the trip. Sorry about the quality they are cell phone pics. I'll try to figure out how to resize them after I finish doing chores and dinner

2 friends of ours were doing that this year and they were doing pretty good. They would get about 5 or 6 (catch and release) a piece in a couple of hours of fishing.
