Just wondering how many of us are heading into the woods that weekend, and who's going to give it a week or two befor heading out!
-
In a way I am doing both. I have located a couple of mature Eastern gobblers roosts. I am going to hunt hard from Fri 04/15 through Wed 04/19 and try to harvest the bigger of the two. Thu 04/21 I'm rolling to the Klickitat and will spend at least a week trying to put the habeous grabbous of a pair of Merriam longbeards.

waiting for the second weekend
-
I;m going on the opener, got some birds marked out. Hope the snow will melt alittle

Why would you not go out? It's always going to be better than stayin home.
-
me+4 will be out in Pend Oreille County.
-
I will be heading out on the 15th I hope.
-
Heading out either Thursday night, April 14 or having to wait til the monring of the opener. Klickitat County here we come. Set up three ground blinds two weeks ago so the birds would get used to them. Tons of long beards including a double bearded old boy. Hoping he is the one!
-
I"ll be out there for sure. Been watching gobblers struttin for weeks! It's driving me nuts.
-
Im heading out on Thursday and will be there for the weekend. Good Luck to everyone!
-
heading out wednesday the 13 through the following wednesday. hope to get my first turkey this year spent over 11 days in the woods last year and all i got was a tick bite. lets hope its a better season. gonna put in my time.

I think I know what it feels like to be a heroin junkie looking for a fix. The only thing keeping me from the opener will be an avalanche that closes the pass.
Otherwise, gobblers be warned...
But no matter what happens, I'd like to thank this forum for being so gracious in sharing your knowledge.
My first gobbler is your gobbler.
-
I will be heading toward Klickitat Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday......have to then wait until the following weekend to go out again. Or maybe I can find an Eastern on the West side after work during the week......now that would be awesome!

Tree planting at Mt. St. Helens on the 16th, so probably not until the 23rd. There are still some volunteer spots open for the planting if anyone wants to help restore the eroded elk habitat there. We have 5000 trees to plant with about 20-25 people. This is approved habitat restoration for Master Hunter hours. More info at http://wildelk.org/default.asp (http://wildelk.org/default.asp)

As of this time today, the weather forecast for opening weekend: Highs low 40's, lows mid to low 20's with chance of snow.

I'm taking my coworker over to Chewelah on the opener, he got me my elk last year. So I told him I would take him and his girlfriend turkey hunting. We will leave the coast after work and drive all night and set up in the morning on the 15th. He really wants his girl to get a bird. I will do my best to make it happen. :IBCOOL:

Good Luck All! Planning on hunting the NE the first couple days of the season and also back over on the third weekend. Sounds like the opener will be a bit sluggish with the cold weather. :dunno:

Hey guys. New to the site. I've been turkey hunting in Maine, but this will be my first solo trip and my first time hunting in Washington. Be up in the Colville area on the 15th for the opener. This will also be my first time hunting on public land. Should be very exciting! Good luck everybody. It's been a long winter and I just can't wait to get my sights on a bird!

-
Yes , I am taking my son to an area we saw birds last year on the 15 TH . I went there scouting on march 28TH but we didn 't see any turkeys or hear anything . Still pretty sure the birds are around .
-
Well, if the government shuts down, there will be lots of people with time on their hands that will be out turkey hunting.
-
Man I wish! It appears to be yuet another year that I won't get to learn the turkey thing :bash: :bash: :'(
-
I will be out all of the weekends! :IBCOOL:
Yelp, after you get your 2 turkeys in the first 30 minutes, what are going to do then?
Do you substitute blanks in your buddies guns, so you can help them get their turkeys on future weekends?
:dunno:

Well we will have 16 guys in camp..thats a lot of tags to fill! :yike: Anyways..I have a bet going with turkey slayer..highest scoring bird (nwtf) loser mounts winners fan! So I may have to be picky. I also have several weekends reserved for a couple stevens county hunts and I will be taking the wife again..she is excited. Oh and second weekend is Easter and I will have to at least be there foe sunrise service and dinner! :chuckle:
-
Have to fix my first post...
Nope.
Plans fell through.
Havn't told Cody yet. Still trying to find a place to go. Might not tell him till next week.
-
Yelp,
I cook for 2 days prior to Easter. It is a big occasion that has been going on for more than a century. Recipes are a century or more old.
Unfortunately I am the last in family that knows them. Kids are not interested to learn them. One receipe I start at 7am and am not
finished until 5pm. I guess the instruction that starts with beat 50 eggs for one hour is a little dauting.

My plan was to go over the 14th and stay thru the 19th as needed, but Congress hasn't passed their budget yet and I have been deemed essential DOD personnel. What the means is my leave will be cancelled and I'll have to be at work until they get their act togetner.
