Heading out in the morning. Hopefully will have some pics of the nephews birds come Monday. Good luck to everyone else.

We are headed out this morning as well :IBCOOL:, long drive and what looks to be less than great turkey hunting weather :(. Hopefully all goes well for everyone heading out, we got the right gear and hopefully the right attitudes and two BIG bags of victory M&Ms :chuckle:, I just hope they stay victory M&Ms and do not turn into wet/misery M&Ms ;). Good luck and be safe, and bring on the pictures!

We only get Sunday to hunt. Good luck to all! :hello:

We will be giving them hell in the morning. The weather finally got nice today down here. I think it is the first time I have seen the sun in 6 months. My 7 year old is jacked to kill one so hopefully we find a bird or two. Good luck to everyone.

Good luck to all the youth hunters this weekend. Enjoy your time afield with your mentors! Safety first!

Good luck to all. Can't wait to see the pics.

Good luck to you youths in the morning :hunter: Most of all have fun :)

No youth hunt for us this year. Although Cody wanted to hunt we couldn't fit it into the schedule.,.. Opening weekend is a different story.
-
I hope there were some successful hunters out there. The only turkeys I saw were on private property. Did not hear a thing.. Oh I did manage to get stuck and have a tree rip my front fender off..

Went at it hard this weekend with the 7 y/o. Great day on Saturday, birds gobbled all day. Had a shot at about 0700 and missed. Had another Tom work his way in to about 10 ft behind us and put and run. Today. The birds were definetly in a different mood, gobbled alot first thing and then shut up all day. 13 hours of no responses at many places was too long for dad.. She wanted to stay out and get the tom "she missed" but, Ide had enough. Back at er again in a few weeks.

We got two to come in. He missed the first and biggest at 10 yards, but nailed this one at 15. Definitely was not an easy hunt this year. Did see lots of birds, just not real responsive yet.

Had a chance to take my younger brother out this weekend, had some good luck and bad luck at times. First morning barely left the truck going out blind ran into several birds and brought them within 20 yards on a line. They started to slowly work away when his shot went high :bash:, can't blame him though we all miss at times but it did set him up for a few jokes the rest of the weekend. Then today we ran into a nice long beard but from where he was sitting he couldn't see him and I could see him plain as day in full strut, but i guess that's why its called hunting and not killing. The best part is that he had a blast and so did I, and I think I've got him hooked on chasin gobblers!

Great looking bird JKEEN! Way to go.
We had a great time, but no shots fired :(. Kids did real good, weather was tough. Saw plenty of birds even got a few to work a bit but nothing real good. Fortunately my kids have been a round a "hunter" for a long time that only every now and then is a "shooter" so I think they knew it was not a done deal :chuckle:. They both are willing to go again so I call it a success :IBCOOL:. We had a great member from this site offer us access that with a little different weather would have been amazing. It all worked out and we will be back if the invite still stands for later this year (sports allowing :bash:) or next spring.
Congrats to all folks who took kids afield. WE know where the success really lies!

took the boys over to the deer park area and had a blast with them. tough turkey hunting conditions, cold rainy with some snow, hail and some sunshine but hunted hard all day saturday and saw quite a few birds but none hit the dirt. planning on making it back over during the reg season to hopefully try to get them on some more birds.

Parents had a couple youths on there property this weekend. 1 kid got a shot at one and from what the dad said he knocked it down but it got up and took off. The other kid and his dad had some come in but got hung up about 50 yards out. We could here the birds gobblin from the house.

Took my son to ewa for his first youth hunt. We treed a couple of toms on Friday night but they were on a ridge we couldn't get to. They ended up moving to the farm on the other side. We hunted several areas and saw large groups of birds all on private property, weather was tough as mentioned. He was more positive than I was the whole weekend. He is hooked and is gearing up for regular season which makes for a new hunting buddy.
