If you are really desperate. Sometimes there are people on Craigslist selling birds (pigeons, pheasants, etc.). Just need too look. I would not necessarily say what you are doing with them though. But I would call up a bunch of the hunting clubs that do releases or pay to play. They will usually sell you birds.

Type in Doves, Pheasants, Pigeons, Birds, etc. I bet you get some hits.

Hey man, I've got about 12 Quail I was going to release on my parents property, not sure if it's what you're looking for but you're welcome to have them if it helps the training. I hatch em, raise em' and let them go. My kids get a kick out of helping me. Let me know if you you can use them.

Hey Jason- Birds are hard to come by right now. Try hooking up with Bryant and Cindy. They are close to you and I'm sure they'd help you out with a couple birds to get him used to pigeons. PG

It is funny how many folks want birds this time of year. I have raised gamebirds for 10+ years and when a guy has birds no one wants them. Then when there are not many available people always want them. I would have birds every spring if it were worth it, it just is not. Everyone wants birds in the spring but no one wants to pay for them. People do not realize how much food and TIME a few hundred birds eat over the winter. It would amaze most folks. My food bill averages $6-8k each year and that is just food, not power, pen supplies, incubators, brooders, feeders, waterers, and time. I am a hobbyist not a commercial outfit. I put the chukars under lights in January and started hatching a few chickens and all the chukar eggs I can, my power bill went from $165 to $295 each month for the last three months! Folks will like to have those chukars that are full grown and flying great in June/July yet they do not want to pay for a added expense I put in to get them. I am sorry I do not have birds right now, but I am glad I did not have to feed them all winter as well.
Look for a pigeon breeder or a good place to trap them. If guys want birds this time of year a plan needs to be made in the summer/fall the year prior :twocents:.
