I was wondering if anyone has shot or had their kid shoot a weatherby vanguard 243 for the youth. I just bought one for my son since he just passed his hunters safety course and what sold me on it was the fact that the gun grows with him instead of replacing the stock. I love the fact of the spacers in the butt stock, what do you guys think? Any suggestions on a good type of ammo for a real same boy for the 243.

My dad has howa youth 243 which doesnt like heavier the 85gr bullets. It shoots the 80gr sierra's in factory federal box pretty well its under 1moa the hand loads we tried to group with the 90-95gr bullets just wouldnt do any less the 1.5-2" groups, but you can put those rounds in my mossberg youth and it one holes three rounds :dunno:. I think the twist rate is the key in the grouping of the heavy bullets. I do like the action of the howa/weatherby and have a vanguard .338 win that has never missed a beat.

My dad has the vanguard youth and it shoots about an inch I think he's shooting 100 grain Sp but I could be wrong. It's a very nice little rifle.
