So I am trying to find a place that has savage firearms in stock on the west side between Seattle and Mt. Vernon. Does sports authority carry them, or anyone know a place that does?
I am looking for this particular gun - savage axis xp,

Thanks!

Wholesale in Federal way had some so I would imagine the one up North would too. I picked mine up a Dicks, nice shootin gun for the $$. Heavy trigger though but I lightened mine up for about $4.00.

Try : Federal Way Discount Guns in Federal Way. Mo has been there for years and should still be there. He was last year.

I believe sportco carries savage as well. Why not look up some phone numbers of sporting good stores and calling them to see what they have in stock?
-
Big 5? :dunno:
-
Try going to savages webpage and going to the dealer locator link and type in your zip code and find out what dealers have them, their distance away from you, and the page will have their phone numbers and addresses. :dunno: :twocents:

Alright I looked at their website and got some places, also called some sports authorities. One store has a 223 in stock, I may just go ahead and get that one. After all a 223 is a tried and true coyote gun.
Thanks for the help!

I think every Walmart that sells guns has Savages in stock.
-
I vaguely remember something about Big5/Sports Authority carrying the Axis rifles
-
Well i am now a proud owner of the savage axis xp model chambered in 223 rem! Caught the last one at the everett sports authority!

Congrats on the new purchase! If it came with a knock off scope I'd upgrade that right off the bat though. Just looked at the cheaperthandirt.com post you put up about this rifle and granted you didn't buy it from there, but when they don't even name the brand of scope it comes with... replace it with a leupold... or your optic of choice :P

Ha, it came with a Bushnell 3-9x40. I plan on limiting to 200 yards or so. Should work ok, but if not ill start saving for a better scope. Thanks again guys, she is a beauty, can't wait to get to the range!

You should have a look at the Bushnell banner scopes for a replacement, the one that comes on package rifles is only good for a bonking fish. Even the $50 range of Bushnell scopes are head and shoulders above the one that ships with a package. It's too bad that there isn't a range of scopes offered on these packages, I think most folks who shoot much always end up replacing these.
Did you get the camo or the black rifle? I've been eyeballing a camo one in .243 Win.

I got it in the basic black stock. I like it, its comfortable, and I like how the front of the stock is ergonomically fit for your fingers. Free floated barrel too. I wanted the 243 but they didn't have one so I just snagged the 223. I also looked at the remington 770 which was the same price (but in 243), and I didn't like it as much as the axis, it felt heavy and bulky.

I know exactly what you mean, I actually like the Axis synthetic stock better than the standard Savage one! Be glad you got the Axis over the 770, those things are junk!

I just bought the axis in .308, but no scope. I put a Nikon 3x9 on it that I had extra. Walmart in stock

Lots of info on here for Savages.

With a little work you can change barrels & calibers your self.

Savage Axis .223 4 shot group at 100, yeah I pulled one! I changed out the scope it came with to a Redfield 4-12 x 40
-
Nice group! Looks good! Quick question for you, will a .22lr bore brush do the job in the 223? I can't find a 223 brush anywhere!
-
Yes a .22 will work. How's the trigger on your gun? When I picked mine up I bet it was at least 7 pounds, nice and crisp but really heavy.
-
If you want here's a link to a cheap trigger adjustment. Worked great for me and easy to do yourself.
