has anyone ever had this muzzy tag and what do you think. This isnt the rut tag but there is
some huge bucks hiding out there.I have been put in for the desert unit tag for several years.
No luck maybe this year.

look at the deer hunting forum. there is a desert tag topic there. its for rifle thou but good picks

From what I've heard it's a lock for a 140-150ish buck, but finding much bigger than that can be tough. :dunno:

What I have seen taken there and the horrible draw odds..not even close worth putting in for...this state and its hunters have made this tag out like your putting in for the Henrys,Pauns or the strip. I would rather put some scouting in and hunt OTC than there..I figure I have better chance of taking a bigger buck than what is being taken there

My buddy drew the rifle tag 2 years ago and scouted it to death. He saw a couple 160-170 bucks in the summer. But come hunting season he said he couldn't find anything bigger than 150. Said he saw a few everyday in the 150's. He ended up killing one the last day of the season that scored 153 if I remember right. He told me he wishes he would not have put in for the unit.

Very rarely do people shoot what I consider big bucks in that unit or what people have made it out to be..biggest joke of a LE tag in the state!! I see bigger bucks in OTC units during hunting seasons than what I see tagged there on a regular basis..thin wired horned 24-26" bucks is the normal..U can go hunt in MT in the general units and take better quality bucks every year than this place. I see people post pics of these bucks and laugh and think how long did u wait and money spent on permits year after year with 3,000 apps for the measly amount of tags and this is whats being tagged? No thanks ..there are far better areas around here that if were managed the way "desert" is that would far better hunting and habitat

The desert would have some bruisers if we could keep the poaching under control. 150 to 160 class bucks are pretty easy to come by out there. It would be a fun hunt with lots of deer, but anything 170 plus would be tough to come by. :twocents:

It would be fun but not on the top of my list. The first 170 I saw would be in trouble. There will be one near 190 typical out there next year right 509er. You suck.

He will be poached before next season.
Desert will continue going downhill with the constant poaching.

I dont know about the rest of you but a 150 buck anywhere in washington
is a shooter for me.With the new system I only apply for a desert quality buck
tag but I can still get other deer tag without losing my quality buck points.Maybe
someday I will get a chance at one of those little 150 bucks.

I always put desert as my first pick! Why wouldn't anyone? That unit is AWESOME! Loaded with deer and lots of trophy bucks.

in my eyes a 150 buck in a unit with the odds and hype this one gets is funny. Not a trophy mule deer in my eyes and for those draw odds..u better be hunting some bruiser bucks.U can accomplish this in OTC units in the high country with hard work and scouting.
