decided to try some new shot this year and went out and patterned it before the opener. i was using kent 3" #6's last year and this is what the new heavy shots did for me this year. i was very impressed by the grouping at such a distance. i used a 100 foot tape to get a accurate measurement and was using shooting sticks for this purpose. i have a benelli supernova and a ported carlson choke. the heavy shots area mix of # 4 , 5 ,6 in 3" the top is actually the 45 yard shot.

Looks like a great Pattern. No gaps and pretty evenly spread shot. May get worried if the bird gets close.

Looks like a great pattern. I've dumped birds at 50 yds, but you need to know that your load will reach out and make a clean kill. Good job.

You brought up a great point. I never miss a bird at 40 yards, but have missed a couple at 10-12. I tell everyone to check this yardage also. Your pattern can be so tight that it's easy to miss if you are not dead on that neck.

good job Ben .. i used to watch these guys miss on T.V and laugh my butt off . but I bought me a turkey choke and the pattern is the same as yours and one morning I called this bird in from about 1/2 mile gobbling mad and I let him get to about 15 yrds and and when I shot the gobbler was still gobbling I shoot again the gobbler is still gobbling I missed twice at 15 yrds and I let him walk off gobbling because he definately deserved to live.... So no more turkey chokes for me and if you do have one I recommend shooting as soon as the bird hits that 30 yd mark because these patterns are mean and you best SQUEEZE the trigger instead of jerking like most people do when shooting a shotgun...

I need to get out and pattern the two 3" loads I just found. I do know at 25yds my 23/4 6's put almost all the pellets in a 3.5" area they just dont pattern good enough at 40yds for me to take a shot at a stuborn bird.

Yeah I like 3 in. with 2 OZ of #5 winchester ..they seriously hurt things including coyotes ...

Nice pattern.
Where did you find the target?

got the targets at bobs in kelso on the way back form a horrible springer fishing trip. they have them online too like everything else . they are cool though peel and stick and easy to see the kill shots.
