how is it so addicting??
-
I hunt turkey for a couple reasons.
1. It's another season to get out and hunt
2. It's damn fun being able to get completely camo'd out
3. Not everyone does it, so it's not like deer season and everyone and their mother is out
4. It is addicting! There is nothing like locating and calling a turkey.

:yeah:

ive done it some back in arkansas. killed two, and that was enough for me. im too heavily 'invested" in elk, bear and deer. hunting cost enough as it is. i dont want to hunt for something im not hyped up totally for.
-
I enjoy it because its something to hunt when there is not much going on. I've been turkey hunting with some buddies the last 3 years and i really look forward to those turkey trips.
-
I think I have killed about 9 of them, without really ever hunting them. I occasionally would carry the bow around while out shedding, that is my real passion, and call a bucnh of birds in just as I was hiking. So, I don't really turkey hunt, have never been bit by the bug, but yes, I have sort of.

Chris,
Have you ever hunted turkeys? I guess I'm just addicted to hunting period.
-
Hunted the fame gobblers when I was 15 and loved it. I hunt and fish so much that come turkey time I usually don't have the money to go. Have been trying for a couple of years to get out, but just haven't made it. I'm not sure if the wife could handle another hunting season. I start hunting in august and go through the seasons and end with waterfowling, which I just started a couple years ago. One day I'll get out there. The boy will probably push me when he's done with hunters ed. He loves watching the hunting shows when they're hunting turkeys.

My wife got me started this year with Turkey. It was the first thing open after she passed her class and since we have propert in the NE corner and see them there often, she pushed me into it. She was more fanatical than I was. She bought decoys, and blinds, chairs, and numerous calls!
Now she has her sights on deer and is chomping at the bit for that. She is not wanting to hunt bear for some reason.
-
Oh my wife hunts deer and is itching to go, but as far as hunting anything else nodda. She says the rest is for me. She don't care about how much time I spend hunting it's the money factor. She Still doesn't understand why I need all things I got and why every year I need to buy this or that. It's funny cause I say the same about her horses, she never rides.LOLOLO :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
Well since she already buys a hunting lisc might as well have her buy a special permit for goat, sheep, moose to up your chances of someone in your family getting drawn.
-
Yeah I should. Once the boy gets through his class, maybe she'll want to get out more. If she wants to spend time with us LOLOLOLO :chuckle: :chuckle:

Yes...
It is super challenging to call in a big tom and as such very rewarding when you do it. Other than perhaps bugling in a bull I can't think of many things that get me so pumped. I've killed a fair number of toms and I still get super excited when one's gobbling at me and closing the distance.
If they could smell ya I'm not sure you'd ever kill em....
-
i try to get out and hunt for whatever season is open.
i hate sittin at home!
-
Yes.
Because it is there.

Shot a boat load of them when I was a kid and just lost interest. Havent shot one for quite a while.
