I was watching a couple youtube hunts in anticipation for the permit draws... I know its a long way away :chuckle: Anyhow these guys in the video put in the effort and I admire that but they hunt the whole time with no Hunter Orange. :dunno:

It never showed them "hunting" without hunter orange, it only showed them after the shots. Wonder how it would hold up. They probably took it off for the camera stuff.
-
Is it washington? Not required in all states. (cant watch the vid :bash: :bash:)
-
No I threw up the other videos so you can see the whole documented trip. They were in wa. I believe they said pasayten.
-
Good thing all hunters are out there to keep all others on the straight and narrow.
-
My opinion is that orange should be a personal choice. It amazes me that the state can actually tell us what color our clothing has to be. There are other highly visible colors that would be just as safe, or safer, than orange. Why can't we wear those colors? I would never turn someone in for not wearing orange.
-
Why did you e-mail the department of fish and wildlife?
-
Why did you e-mail the department of fish and wildlife?
because everyone is lookin for the 10 pts or maybe X is worried about there safety :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
really.... a email..... did you tell your teacher and your mom and dad to?
-
If you watch video #4 they are doing nothing but hunting. Its all a safety thing. I am not the orange police....but I will always wear mine so other people know where I am at all times. I do not wish to be shot and would prefer that while hunting a modern season ALL people wear theirs so I can see them too. Really....does it give you that much of an edge at hundreds of yards away to be in camo?.....I think not.
-

:yeah: I agree but i would hate for some sucker to watch the video, know when the seasons are and not know that orange is required. Nope didnt tell mommy and daddy because they could careless :chuckle:

:yeah:
Orange isn't required in Idaho and they do just fine. I still wear my orange when I hunt there though. :dunno:
-
I did not wear my orange in Idaho for two days......and I just didnt feel right. So the rest of the week I wore it.
-
sorry to offend but!
we all know it is a question of safety, BUT they are busting their humps in the high country hunting where they may or may not see another hunter the whole trip. (not saying it is right) but if they don't have it on oh well. but to email game dept to try to bust someone (for hunter orange of all things) to gain points for yourself than that is BS, especially where they are. it isn't like they are shooting from truck driving down the road or busting fences on private property to gain access.. (THAT WOULD BE A FOR SURE CALL IT IN) but ORANGE?
i love cruising thru the posts and seeing all the great pics but this get out of hand.. people want to point fingers and try to find a problem or a law that has been broken to explain why someone tagged or caught something and was successful.
HELL IT ISN'T LIKE THEY HAD A FLASHLIGHT ON THEIR BOW!!! :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
Why email WDFW then, there is nothin to be gained unless you are lookin for bonus pts. You are not contacting everyone that watched the video and tellin them that it is a law?
-
Who cares what other people think.Don't you have anything better to do than play safety officer?
-
It could be an August bear hunt also. Not required for that.
-
It could be an August bear hunt also. Not required for that.
If thats the case they did poach a deer :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
Geez, how did we hunt for hundreds of years before orange?
-
What happened to the original post that said I emailed the WDFW.
-
:peep: I don't know if i should just go crawl under a rock! I wanted to post the video because these guys did put in the effort. Its the exact same way i love to hunt. I removed the email thing because there is no reason to catch this much flack. Really. :stirthepot:
-
Not wearing hunting orange isn't even a criminal offense, its a civil infraction (just like a parking ticket). No need to email WDFW. Most officers wouldn't even write a ticket for it.
-
It could be an August bear hunt also. Not required for that.
They mentioned the date and intention.
If you don't follow all the regs (or at least the obvious ones), and then put video all over the internet--then you can basically expect someone to eventually question you.
-
When I saw the one dudes outfits, I wasn't sure that I was watching a hunting video, thought it might be brokeback mountain :yike:
-
Assuming the guy emailed WDFW to gain points doesn't make any sense. They're not poaching. Points are for turning in a poacher once they get convicted. Not for emailed WDFW about some dude you don't know who's not wearing orange on an internet video. I agree, probably not something I would choose to do(the email) but I doubt he's doing it to gain points.
:twocents:
-
No biggie on the orange. I'm now wondering about the use of the two way radios used to lead the one hunter in on the deer to make the kill. Is that legal? :dunno:
-
Since when is taking radios and using them to keep tabs on eachother and the game illegal? Come on!
Is orange even required in the early buck hunts? Honestly if you can't tell the difference between a human and a buck cause they aren't orange you shouldn't shoot!
Do you have a trash bag in your vehicle? I emailed the state patrol you criminal you! Lol
-

Yes orange is required for any deer or elk modern firearm hunt.
-
Since this thread has to do with wearing orange, I thought I might ask:
Why is there hunters that "scope" other hunters that are wearing the required orange then? I know I read some threads on here saying that people got scoped by others.
That's one thing that I don't get. :dunno:
(Not trying to start anything or hijack this thread.)

I dont even bring my rifle up until I am sure what I am looking at. I however have had shots go over my head(at an animal) and shots ricochette VERY close to me. All of which they said they did not see me....and I was even wearing orange. I am very aware of my surroundings. It is hard to see someone all camo'd up sitting behind a stump at a couple hundred yards away. Its all about safety! For everyone! Big deal! Wear the orange!
And yes I do have a garbage bag in my car at all times.
-
Geez, how did we hunt for hundreds of years before orange?
:yeah:Orange should be a personal choice.. But if the WDFW says we have to wear it i guess we have to. But no one likes a nark for the little things. Its almost like the seat belt law, if you don't want to wear a seat belt you shouldn't have to.
-
if i worried about everyone else and what they do i would have no time to mind my own business like i like doing.
who cares if they dont have orange on. its their own descision. the law is stupid.
if i wanted to wear clothes like the new red green show i should be able to. Worked fine for a hundred years.
-
Even though its the law and it is a safety thing I believe it should be a persons choice.
-
I understand it's a safety thing but snitch on them for something important, there are more important things for wdfw officials to spend their time on.
-

amen. :yeah:
-
I would not snitch on them for that....but I would call them some choice names in my head! :chuckle:
-
I'm in favor of hunter orange. In every state where it has become required, shooting incidents have decreased. I've had deer walk within 10 feet of me while I'm wearing orange, so I don't believe it hurts my hunting.
Statistically, hunting is very safe and part of that is due to hunter orange.
Whenever anyone is shot, every hunter gets a black eye in the eyes of the public.
-
cool videos
-
But Bob, why orange? Why can't we have choices? How about fluorescent green or yellow? Or hot pink? :yike:
I don't think a pink hunter would get mistaken for a deer, elk, or bear.
-
I for one would not turn in anyone for not wearing orange, yes it is the law but so is going 70. Who the heck drives the speed limit. you could argue this for days on end and get no where..
I hate the fact that I have to wear this bright orange crap, mayebe it will save my life one day but I highly doubt it. Might get me killed if anything, to the guy who scoped me a few years back, I hope you're head still hurts. :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
cool videos
:yeah: These guys bust their hump!
Im sure wdfw has more important thing to do like trying to find ways to raise more revenue! :chuckle:
-
HEY!! WE'RE MISSING THE MAIN POLINT HERE!!! LOOK AT VIDEO #3 AT 3:42. YOU'LL SEE TO THE LEST,... A BOW.. AND HALF OF A FLASHLIGHT!!!!! :bdid: :bdid: :yike: :yike:
CALL NOW!!!! 10 POINTS!!!! :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :bash: :bash: :chuckle: :chuckle:
:chuckle: :chuckle:
I LOVE THE SMILEYS ON THIS SITE.
OH, AND YOU CAN ALSO SEE A UFO FLY BY ON VIDEO #5 AT 2:78.
LOL :IBCOOL: :chuckle:

I don't think a pink hunter would get mistaken for a deer, elk, or bear.
I don't know this for a fact, but I believe there have been several studies that indicate orange is safer than any other color for hunters. You don't see too many highway workers wearing pink, do you? :chuckle:
-

TODAY OUR TAX DOLLARS PAID SEVERAL WDFW EMPLOYEES TO SIT AND WATCH HUNTING VIDEOS!!!

:chuckle: Thats probably a good thing if a Olympian desk jockey gets to see wildlife every now and then.
Some people need to lighten up. Please. Will these guys get fined? probably not. Why because its inconsequential. So why report it? I dont know. But i am getting them a lot more hits. And everyones feedback seems to be positive... at least toward them :chuckle:
-
bump... :chuckle: :chuckle:
that'll teach you to stir the pot pre season! :hello:
-
Has anyone watched the last video?? The one dude makes a 300+ yard shot on a deer that is questionably legal. Nice 2 point, but maybe not a 3. No way could the guy tell that it had the little 3 points at that distance.
-
That might kind of depend on their optics. Throughout the video it looked like they had good gear (looked like some good binos), so I'd assume their optics are capable. I use a 6-24x50 scope for high hunt such that I can determine if legal or not from a long distance. Have to leave the spotting scope behind due to space/weight considerations.
-
Yea those 3inch eye guards were hard to see! They spotted the thing and stalked it. Not like it was a crack shot deal! Some people need to get away from the comp and lace up their boots for a little while!!!
-
He said the buck he shot was with a group of 5 bucks and this was the biggest one?
-

Not the first buck, watch the 5th video at the end. No eyeguards on that one bro.
-
Get a freakin life internet nanny....
-
who is the internet nanny!??! :stirthepot: :chuckle:
-
Nice Bucks!!! Glad to see the vids
Should we be happy the govt imposed a dress code...
-
I could give two *censored*'s about the orange, I was inspired by the video to get off my ass and start exercising for the up coming season. Nice job getting up in the mountains guys, I was drooling.
-
heck I wouldnt shoot ya in a bear or deer suit, but as we all have learned in the past, there are a certain amount of retards out there that are more concerned with getting and shooting, than looking and being positve about backgrounds and so on...Im always reminded of my little sister on these type of topics...ol motor mouth, nobody was safe if she saw what ya was doing....
-
this is gotta be one of the funniest threads i have seen on this site, really if you need someone to have there hunter orange on so you dont shoot them PLEASE stay the hell out of the woods PLEASE... IMO hunter orange is one of the dumbest rules but whatever, i like my old red flannel jacket, but i have been told that you gotta wear hunter orange so people can see you, holy crap if they cant see that red flannel jacket then they shouldnt be allowed to hunt, i feel safer when people cant see me, cause you know damn good and well if they can see you they are probably scoping you at the same time, and the dude must have been joking about sending an email to rat them out, if its true, GET A LIFE, you shouldnt tattle tale sonny, what a great time those guys had up there, i hope they used the hunter orange for butt wipe :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
i hope they used the hunter orange for butt wipe :chuckle: :chuckle:
:yeah:

I wouldn't turn them in but it is still a rule. They can agree with it or disagree with it but they should still comply. I worry about the person that is willing to break a rule because they disagree with it or because they consider it minor. Where does it end? I see no problem with pointing it out. I am no saint by any means and could be considered a hypocrit on this when it comes to other issues like speeding for example but not fish and game laws.
-
5 years ago if you showed up to a germany hunt with hunter orange on you would be laughed out of there. But these days its mandatory. I dont think hunters are shot any less often. but everyone feels warm and cozy about it now. lol.
I wouldnt go out of my way to turn a guy in as he would never be caught without getting his information. If i happened to hike near the guy i would say something polite just as i would say something polite to a gamey about it if i happened to hike near one.
-
Sure the rules say you must wear it.. but its the principle of the matter.. I wont allow my government to tell me what I can and cannot wear :hello:
-
If the whole safety thing is the big issue,,, should the government tell girls to not dress in sexy clothing while in public because they might be raped?
-
Hunter orange is for *censored*ies - with rifles!!!!! OK, just kidding. But seriously, archers are the only true hunters. I think we all know that. It's common knowledge. A Fact. OK, I'm ready for the barrage, and maybe a stray bullet or two. I can duck. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

i resemble that remark :chuckle:

Looks like those stud hunters pulled their YouTube videos ... it's a damn shame.

If they are from WA they are probably on this site and witnessed the remarks and chaos created in this thread regarding their hunter orange.. Good effort on their behalf for putting in the time and miles to get in the backcountry and bivy out - nicely done! Takes some determination to hunt that way and many aren't willing to put forth that type of effort. Should they have been wearing orange, yes, but at least they got it done and connected on a couple bucks on a hard earned hunt.
-
Once again.. if those guys are on here. NICE DEER! Way to get it done
-
It takes a lot of effort to hunt the wilderness, it was cool to see that they were successful. Congrats guys! Post the videos and dot say where you were next time.
-
Nice Video.. Been a long time scene i have done that beautiful country.. Good Memories. Some people need to start worrying about themselves.. They where just not wearing the orange. If something happened bad it would have been there fault. They weren't poaching or any thing like that.. BIG FREAKING DEAL
-
I'm damn near pissed off that they had to pull their videos from our flack. It took me 2.5 hours to load up those videos where I'm at and i missed half of one because they got yanked. They are the best damn videos i've seen as far as real guys getting out and doing some real hunting in one of the most beautiful places in the world as far as i'm concerned. When they panned accross the mountains it almost makes me cry honestly. I cant beleive that some nit picking now prevents me from watching it all over again. Not to mention they drug along the cameraman so they could bring us that footage and devoted that amazing video series to their buddy who died in the parwan province a little way from where i'm at.
Its sad guys, real sad. I hope they post them up again.

Gotta agree ... the video documentary of their hunt would rank with the best! What an awesome hunt!

i hope the naysayer whiney tatle talers are happy, YA RATTED OUT SOME REAL HARDCORE CRIMINALS, CONGRATS :hello:

:yeah: I would much rather watch a hard earned hunt like that than any of the hunting shows on tv. Those guys busted their butt and tagged some nice deer. Congrats to them. Not many have what it takes to pull off a hunt like that.
-
Jeez... seriously, not wearing hunter orange :dunno: Is this the site where the guys jump in and whine when a guy don't have his hunter orange on in his "after the kill" pic too?
It's threads like these that help me understand how Obama got elected... :bdid: :yeah:
