Having problems shooting my new z7. For some reason my shots are on target and then im shooting to the left. Moved my sight. Feel like i am in a shooting rut. What are some ideas that you use when your in a rut. Getting frustated

Add some fun and interesting challenges and distract yourself from trying to be spot on perfect. grab a buddy and invent a game. Then you can laugh off the stress and make it fun again. Some times I get lost in the technical side of shooting and get in that funk too.

When that happens to me, I go string up my '57 "Cub" and shoot 10 left handed, then 10 right handed, repeat until I get feeling better about my shooting, but then my sights are all in my head, so adjusting them requires concentrating on form, and release.....

Are you getting tired and torquing the bow by chance?

Torqueing (Sp?) the bow is probably the culprit. Get an aftermarket handle and get rid of the stupid Matthews grip - the Focus or something like on torqueless.com. I have an Outback with a torqueless grip and it's really good and I put a Focus on my Z7 and it's much better than the original.
Also, I just took my Z7 in to a guy that "supertunes" and my wheel was out of alignment. I just got it back on Saturday and the guy said that my wheel was pretty far off - you can't get them to shoot consistently without getting that fixed. I haven't shot it yet (I was out of the country and picked it up on my way home from the airport) to find out if it makes a difference, though.
However, hand torque is my first guess...

opps :chuckle: dam phone! My phone is goofy once I hit the backspace it does not auto correct the words.
Oh and blame the bow that always helps :chuckle: I always start shooting to the right when I get tired. I start "torqueing :chuckle:" the bow.

ALWAYS blame the bow. :chuckle: There is NO WAY that I would ever miss on my own. The dozens of broken arrows in my garbage can over the years have all been a result of equipment malfunction. And that's, of course, manufacturer's defects not from any lack of maintenance on my part. No way that would happen, either.
Blame someone/something else. That's what everybody does these days. Under no circumstances should you take responsibility for anything. :chuckle:
That being said, it's probably torque. Really, the Matthews grips don't fit my hand at all and it made a big difference to me to replace it.

:chuckle: The best thing I have found to so when I am wanting to check my groups and work on stuff. Is to shoot about 6 arrows then put the bow down and wait awhile to shoot somemore. When a guy gets tired the groups can turn to crap and make a guy start changing things that don't need to be changed.

Your grip may be inconsistent. This is one of the things I found to cause me too shoot consistent groups to the left.
Do you have a kisser? You may be gettin "too far"(to much pressure on your face) into your string or kisser if you have one. That is the other thing that will cause me to shoot consistent groups to the left when I know my bow is on.
I'm right handed.

Check to make sure everything's tight - sights, limbs, nock point, rest, stabilizer. Is Anything getting in the way of the fletching? Are there black marks showing up on the fletchings?
Something else that throws me off is target anxiety if there's something behind my target that's killing my arrows, like rocks or such.

I shoot a DXT and had simmulair problems. Part of it was I was just shooting to many arrows without a break. But I went to a focus grip and my groups have improved alot. I have also heard the tourqless grips are nice.

i know when i get in a shooting rut it is typically just my confidence in my shot that is the culprit. try shooting from ten or twenty yards till you are consistently hitting your spots and then move out from there.

Yea change it up a little. Try taking your girlfriend out there and put an apple on her head and shoot it off. But don't tell you wife as she will most certainly just try to ruin your fun!!

Actually, your wife might want to witness that. If you pull off the shot successfully, then all fun will certainly be ruined, though.

Well things are doing great. Bought a new sight and grip. Things are coming together. Shot today at the TSC and shot very well if i do say so my self. only shot to 30 yards but groups good N Tight. Thanks everyone for your responses.
