PITTSBURGH -- No guns or weapons were swiped from vendor booths at the weekend’s National Rifle Association convention in downtown Pittsburgh, but two sets of elk antlers were.
Police said two men stole the antlers, which are worth more than $500,000. A vendor reported the crime Sunday evening.
Security cameras captured Stephen Lee and Curtis Felts each walking off with a set of antlers, police said. Investigators are now checking to see if the actual theft was caught on camera.
The victim is a 56-year-old professional elk hunter from Idaho.
Lee, 44, and Felts, 49, both of Maryland, are being held in Allegheny County Jail.

How do they determine the value of the antlers? Especially at that amount. I know in other states, antlers, especially on shoulder mounts go for quite a bit of money....but that was usually in the 5-20K range. One of the biggest buyers was restaurants that have the hunting theme. I don't see it much in Washington, but some states the decor pulls in more customers than the food.

I'd like to hear more about this story. The antlers were supposedly left on the floor while they were dismantling the convention and forklifts cruising around? If these were worth so much money who in the world is gonna leave these things alone.
