If my wife ever saw these pictures, I'd never be able to shoot a coyote again! :chuckle:
-
Those are cute little buggers. I don't even blink an eye when shooting a coyote but I don't think I could draw down on one of those little guys.
-
I must be pretty cold-hearted because all I see is the hundreds of grouse and pheasants those little guys would eat during there life. I would have no problem with helping out the bird population.
-
Nice pics VV. I love whackin' predators of all kinds, but pups or kittens of any species aren't on my list.
-
We have issues every year with coyotes killing calves. I try to give em a break in the spring when they have pups. But if I catch coyotes messing with cattle, they get a dirt nap.
-
I was out checking hay with my bro in law a couple of years ago ans saw one mousing in the field. hopped out of the truck and let a round loose from the 06 thinking he was 350 yards off or so. I did that once more and my bro said I think he's at 200 yards. So i put the cross hairs Right on him and he folded over... I walked out 200 paces and there was the coyote... I think my range estimation was off cause he was only 15lbs. :chuckle:
-
nice pics! cute little guys!
-
awwwwe looks like 2 pairs of slippers, his & hers one pair size 10.5 wide, and the other size 6 ladies.
-
did the parents see you? Nice pics!
-
This was the third time I had seen them during the day, the folks were out mousing while the kids were napping. I slipped in got the pics and slipped back out nice and quiet. The mom let me get within 50 or 60 feet of her that morning with the tractor. For some reason tractors really don't bother the coyotes. Until you stop. :chuckle:
-
Thats great that you had a oppurtinity like that! Hopefully they stick around long enough for more pictures!
-
snuff them now it is much easier that way.
-
thats some cute pups... Be pretty heartless untill they were old enough to have a sporting chance
-
I hunt Coyotes out of blood lust! :mgun2: For sport i hunt birds on the wing! :twocents:
-
thanks for the pics. but i hate yotes . i have seen bad things happen with them. :twocents:

:yeah:
Same here.

One year ago today I took out 4 pups and one adult male that should have been paying closer attention the the big white truck on the hill. He was sleeping and woke up dead. The little ones should have stayed below deck too!
The rancher wanted them gone and so they are.

He was sleeping and woke up dead.
LOL

The pups are alive and well, won't be touched until November. I'll try to get some more pics, but it gets harder as they get older. I've also got four other dens of pups besides these on my property, got really close to one bunch yesterday not even knowing that den was there. Bad for me though, didn't have the camera.
-
I think I'm in the same boat as most folks on here. I never hesitate to let the lead fly on an adult 'yote but couldn't bring myself to harm the little ones. No sport in it anyway....wait till they get older and develop into something a little more worthy of my effort.
-
they are cuter than hell

If found them after taking out their mom I would probably put them down. Its better than letting them starve out or be ripped apart by another coyote. One of the most important reasons I started hunting predators was to thin them out. It doesnt make much sense for me to let them live so they can kill more game. :dunno:
-
We have lost thousands of dollars in dead calves over the year. + all the deer and small game+birds they eat. I have no love for them, a dead yote is a good yote. That's the only way I like them!
-
Great pics!!!!
I know that I would have killed em. BTW, them pups you don't need to lead as much :chuckle:
-
YA I killed some pups once and I could never do it again .. I did not feel good about it for along time but thats your call ..
-

It's not about sport. It's about all of the calves, fawns, pheasent,geese,ducks,ect... that you save. The main reason I hunt is to help my other hunting. Same reason I hunt bear. The only differance is you have a season and limit on bears.
-
You would shoot as many as you could if you have seen coyotes running out of the corn with Hen phesant in thier mouths. "Clean" farming makes it much easier for them to put a hurt on the game population.
-
I've shot my share of pups over the years, but I prefer hunting them in the fall when they're bigger. The ranchers in my area don't have the problem with coyotes with the fall calvers (September and October),simply because it's still warm. The mid January to mid March calvers have a harder time, but by that time we've got alot of them thinned out. The hardest thing on pheasants around here is the wet cold springs. That takes its biggest toll on the population. Then it's the Hawks, Eagles, and Ravens, then the coyotes. This spring the rodents are so bad around here the coyotes don't have to do much work to get a full meal for themselves and their pups. Besides those rodents have hammered my winter wheat. I'll let them kill off some rodents, then I'll kill off some yotes.
-
I wouldn't kill the pups. I also give the adults a break this time of year- thinking of those starving pups is a sickening feeling for me. I'm pretty hard on coyotes, but I'm no good at orphaning or killing pups.
-
If the goal is predator control, it is very effective this time of year. :twocents:
-
not a pup or cub or fawn killer, cant make it right in my mind

my thoughts exactly...

To some of us....it ain't about sport. It is no sport. To me it's like having a fly swatter. Some may enjoy the act of killing flies, to some of us it's about a bigger picture. There is no sport is killing stray cats at the local vet clinic but it still is done. :twocents:

That is cool!

This is this weekends tribute to coyote blood lust! I wish i could say it was mine, but it was my cousins... Runswithbeer... We were doing a little thinning on the farm this weekend and decided this pup needed a dirt nap. Are they smart? Adults, yes! That's why its better to snuff em out now! My bro in law has been seeing less Pheasants on the farm and more quail each year... I whack every legal predator every chance i get so that i can have a good hunt with my old man and try to preserve good hunting for my bro in laws sons and my daughter, that will old enough for some bird hunting in a few years. There are so many Coyotes in the Basin i don't think you could affect the population even if you could kill every yote you saw.... too many dead cows laying around. :twocents:

If I can continually get this close with a camera, it doesn't leave much for excitement with a weapon, I'll wait till fall.
