Title: Best bow under $500.00
Post by: washingtonmuley on May 11, 2011, 04:30:28 PM

I am seriously considering this one.  Every review I have seen has been great.  You could probably get a better bow if you didnt want a package.

Bare bow? Or a kit? I shoot Mathews but have heard great things about the Hoyt Rampage. And I think it's in that price range.

Bowtech Outlaw 499.99. Mission X3 299.99. Bowtech Razors Edge 329.99.

All very good bows and all under 500.00. Both of the Bowtechs are fully equipped also. I would just change the sights. Best of luck finding one that works for you. :twocents:

I think your best bet for a bow under 500 would be to find a good used one that is a couple years old.

I got a 2010 Martin Pantera off eBay a couple months ago for about $275. It was from a bow shop and was a demo model. I see the same seller still has quite a few Martins up for auction. One of the Pantera's is a new 2010 model with all the accessories included (Trophy Taker rest, Copper John sight, peep, and quiver) for $482 and free shipping. Seems like a great deal...

I have been on there for the last day. Without having a bow shop in my area to shoot some bows I can not figure out which one I want. So many bows to choose from. There seems to be some good deals on that site.

Absolutely before to buy anything you need to find out  exactly what you are looking for , then watch closely and you can find a good deal , i bought my Z7 last year all black brand new in a box for $715 when every where else it was something betwin $825-$900

I just bought a Bowtech Assassin and absolutely love it.  Their RAK package is pretty good for a newbie like myself.  My friend just got a Martin Firecat 360 and he is really jealous of how much quieter, smoother and faster the Bowtech is for the same price.  It's a great bow, for $599 in my opinion although I am limited on what I have shot.  I am extremely happy, if you can't tell.

PM me if you have any other questions

I have seen and read reviews on both and have been impressed with both. I have shot the same bow for quite sometime and I am looking for something more modern.

If $579 fits your budget, that Alpine Fireball is a really smooth, fast and quiet bow.  I considered it but ended up getting a great deal on a Bowtech Invasion.  The Alpine was my second choice.

If I had $500 to spend id pick up a 2010 pse. Archerytalk will probably be your best bet. The pse bowmadness is an awesome bow for the price. Last time I was down at xxxarchery. That's what Cory was shooting. He can shoot any bow he wants. Should say something about that bow. He let me shoot his and it was way nicer than I expected for the price. I personally shoot an axe 6 and I bet you could find a used one in your range.

The 2010 used Maxxis 35 I purchased on Ebay!  If you ask enough questions and are diligent with your bidding you can get some very good deals on line. I would also keep an eye on the archery talk forums.

I have been all over archery talk and was going to pull the trigger on a 2010 bowtech assasin but owner would only do money order and I was not comfortable with that.I am going to try to shoot the assasin this weekend and compare to the limbsaver I have coming up.

I have bought alot of things from AT and have never had any problems you can talk to the person that has something for sale on the phone and find out anything you need to no before you buy.I was sceptical about sending money at first but like i said ive never had a problem.and ive got alot of very good deals.I would stay away from the limbsaver because they have no resale value people just dont like them

I've been waiting for 25 years to hunt a Dall ram and this year it finally comes true.  Working in the archery industry I am blessed with the ability to shoot anything I want.  I have seven of todays top bows hanging in the trophy room.  Since the ATA show I have been shooting them all trying to make up my mind which I will be taking.  I liked the Invasion CPX best until I got a Bear Assault ($549.95 MSRP) for a good friend.  In setting it up for him I found I shot it better than my aging eyes can see.  Not sure how that's possible but true.  So I had the guys at Bear send me one for myself.  Nothing fancy, no blistering speed, a little louder than the Invasion and single cam which I usually don't like.  But, I am REALLY liking where the arrows are falling - Wow!  Absolutely No Question it is the bow I will be shooting up north.  Invasion ($899.95 MSRP) will be my backup.

I'm not sure what the pro-shops are selling this bow for as most are under the MSRP.  I would expect it will be very close to $500.00.  I would recommend strongly that you try one out at your local Bear dealer.  Very best BANG for the buck in my humble opinion.

Few weeks ago I traded my Z7 for HCA speed pro 10 and I love it, its 345fps 7in. BH  33 ATA and adjustable DL
very smooth and quiet, I think you can get that one around $500 not brand new but close to that condition.

Im not sure about this RADSAV guy..not liking the best bow to ever have graced his bow press...and choosing the OTHER bow. But i too would follow his advice on the bear..ive shot it and agree its a pretty sweet ride for the price point.

PS RAD SAV.....the Invasion is here....yah boy.

Whatever becky! Its too bad you traded out your ultra sonic cleaner...you could have used to to clean off the BEAR crap from your hands...LOL. :puke:

Nah, the mathews thing I deserve...I should of stopped shotting their bows after the switchback or maybe the switchback XT...the drenalin and the DXT were just too well...crappy!  Ok, I may have managed to stick some good critters with em, but still, I cannot wait to see what the INVASION does for me. I was once lost, but now I see..haha.  :rockin: :rockin: :rockin:

You'll have to change your name I take it!  PSE'em sounds a little unsanitary though :o.

Better to be a PSE guy with a little money than a Hoyt guy with no money.

The best bow for the money and I do mean the best is the G-5 Hammer. Its under 500  bucks and it is one tough bow. I have been shooting bows over 30 years and have used a lot of them. Hoyt,BowTech,Diamond,Jennings,Clear Water to name a few. The Hammer bow shoots up their with the best of them. It is well under 500 bucks.
